The Cryptek edition is the same price as the BA 'special edition' ($165) on the GW website that plus the image describing it the 'most vaunted' of all editions suggests to me that it is special in the sense that it has a few more pages of random stuff.

Also, I suppose this goes against the rumor that the Necron codex (120 pgs) will be roughly the size of the SM codex (176 pgs).

BA 117pgs
DEldar 112 pgs
DAngels 104 pgs
AM 104 pgs
SW 104 pgs

It looks completely inline size-wise with the latest codices.
It makes me a little worried though.
The necron codex could have explored major sects within the NECRON faction (i.e. CTan, Cryptek/Canoptek, Destroyers, Flayers as well as the Necrons proper along with any dynasties).
To get all of that done in the same pages as the BAs where they have only Death company, Tacs and HQs suggests there may not be much depth to some or most of the sects.
50 pages less than SM codex might suggest that the codex will focus on Dynasties details and just tweak the other units.

Making a 'Cryptek Edition' suggests that they will have some expanded focus in the new codex. That's consistent with the rumors.

Dark Eldar got 6 combat drugs cards.
Space wolves got 7 physic abilities cards.
The Blood Angels got sanguinary discipline physic cards.
In those cases, the special cards were added because it was expected that they would be routinely used by their respective players as part of normal play.

Hmmm, a Necron codex where CTan are expected to be fielded as routinely used as physic powers suggests that the shards have been completely reworked (Yeah!! Thank you GW!!)

The best part is we have confirmation that the codex is almost here.

DE had drug cards, i think they just need to have 6 big cards in there. Probly just reminders as to what the powers you took are doing.

Looks like Necrons are getting psychic-esque powers by the looks of the data cards. "C'tan cards"?
What if we have to cast the T. C'tans abilities? Would that balance him out more, make it more palatable for the mainstream?

Doesn't have to be, could also mean it's just easier to keep track of them.
The Blood Angel cards specifically said it were Psychic abilities.
One more thing: If it were random Psychic powers they would have 7, for the Primaris.

This also confirms that Crypteks won't be Psykers I guess?

Oh wow. That's dumb. Really dumb. Thank god you get a plastic Overlord with the CCB/AB. Every Necron Player has 2+ Overlords already.
I have around 8 (Over) lords.

Okay, what's The Tomb Awakened and why does it cost £115?

As for the Zarathusa clampack: I'll probably buy it, four of my... I think I have about nine? Lords only really differ in what arms they have so I could use the improved diversity amongst generic court members.

With any luck it comes with at least some wargear options.

Probably a formation or collection.

I'm also definitely going to buy the Lord, I can never have enough diversity in looks.

Kits come out before the codex, right? So if we're seeing the codex, that means no kits. Bummer.

It depends. If its a three-week release with 3+ new kits, they devote a week before the Codex to a new kit or two. Week 2 is always the Codex + plus a kit. Then week three is another kit.

So, if its a two week release, we could get one kit + codex this week, and then something else next week.

It varies, but they'd probably front load with something more exciting than a leader model they already have about five or six variants of (even if only one isn't finecast and a lot of them are specific named Overlords, it's still a lot of Lord/Overlord models) if they actually had anything more exciting.

Hopefully some information over the next few days then.

Im guessing there will also be reboxes for the new sized bases, much like the blood angels with the death company and sanguinary guard.

We don't have much in the way of Jump Infantry that would make proper use of those.

Well TBF the Blood Angels Tacs also got the new base size, so I could see them reboxing our infantry boxes to include them.

However I can also see them not doing that as that's basically every non-vehicle kit.

Are preorders going to be this friday or next?

. Well since the BA tactical marines were released on 32mm... And the Necron Warriors have already been pictured on 32mm your point is?

Ah, that's silly. Not much reason to box Tacticals on a jump infantry base.

I was under the impression that all troops were being moved to 32 mm bases eventually.

GW said that the 32mm bases were just done because the designers thought it looked cooler for larger infantry models (like Space Marines). Whether that's actually the case or not is debatable (they could just be saying that) but they are correct, Space Marines look much better on 32mm bases (as do the wide-legged Necron Warriors).

Sure, just give them twenty years and they'll get right on that.

Anyhow, guess we just need to try to get on with our lives for a few days until more pages leak. Seems a little weird to me that you'd only upload the preorders box if you had an early copy of White Dwarf.

Since I do not need anymore Overlord figures like the new clamshell I will use the money I save to help fund the deluxe Codex.
My metal Deceiver that I painted to look like the Joker is ready to be used as my "improved" C'tan piece!
Data Cards will be needed.

Tomb Awakened is the only real unknown. Will there be some ultra cool and/or unique pieces or a unit of rebased Warriors, the new OL, and a bunch of stuff I already have? Alternately, perhaps a bunch of Praetorians that now cost 30? My personal preference is for something not worth picking up followed by an uber Destroyer rebox.

I assume that the tomb awakens thing is a supplement with some more formations and stuff like that one space wolf book.

$28! TWENTY EIGHT DOLLARS!!!?.!?!?! For one monopose HQ with no options? For much cheaper you can get a SM or CSM commander with oodles of great extra bits. But those kits are from before the single SPRUE character phase, which I used to think was great, but at these prices NO GOD-DANG THANK YOU.

Haha, this makes me giggle a bit more than perhaps it should. We can all agree with the ridiculous price, but that is in line (and priced in between) the Marine, Dark Eldar and other monopose sprue packs. (clampacks?)

And for everyone speculating about the the Cryptek Edition, the recent Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard Edition is likely the best compare point.

Same price at $165 - Art prints and a painting guide in a unique hardback cover and case. But we shall see!

Tomb Awakens has to be a formation/new battle force at that price.

I was thinking something more in line with stuff like the Tyranid Swarm type bundles.

Speaking of, wasn't the Mephrit Dynasty Bundle released in December 2014? Why would they release a product right before the new Necron codex and not have the new Warrior bases if changing base size is something GW is intending to do?

Only potential new kit for a week two would possibly be new Destroyers, which would likely be a recut rather than a brand new unit/model. But I doubt it.

Nah. This'll be another "Diet Codex" like the few before it, with a reduction of options, some formations and some overbalancing of some powerful units (even if they're not powerful in 7th, because GW writing has a serious amount of lag).
