That walker pic looks like a battlewagon turret. Or like it would work well as one.

Comparing to the size of the Ranger on top, honestly it looks huge. I bet it would be too big for the Battlewagon turret. It's my belief that that model is the Onager, and it is the model that is close to a Knight in size. We'll see soon I'm sure. There was no pic of it in this week's White Dwarf, so that pic is technically from next week, that got leaked very early.

So yeah, space Arnies without the fleshsuit. The sneakiest they can be is not shooting on sight and waiting to get in an optimal position.
Like the Terminator.

Well, I see your point about both being unstoppable, relentless, single-minded machine with only one purpose in life, killing their target. But from the Terminator, I get a vibe of an unstoppable, unstoppable monster (which would fit something from the Mechanicum), while I get more a tracker/hunter vibe. Looking for your tracks, patiently waiting up studying your habits to set up the perfect trap and all that. The kind of things the Terminator would never ever have the patience to do.
Maybe it is because of them using sniper rifles and having Move through cover, or about the line about them stalking their target over decades. I just have troubles imagining the Terminator going on for decades without either killing his target or getting destroyed. But of course YMMV.

I said that when the pic first leaked. looks like the turret from a Battlewagon on the legs of a Defiler. Not an inspiring design IMO, but I hope I'm wrong.

Against vehicles, they count as str 4 and roll 2d6 for Armor pen rolls, which should average you a total result of 11, and a max result of 16, enough to actually pen a Land Raider. AP 3 means on a to-wound of 4+ it can cause a Space Marine some issues, and the Sniper Rule gives it Precision Shots, so a 6 to-hit you will get to allocate the wound, if you make the wound roll.

I realise it can can pen vehicles, but compared to most other AT special weapons, it's pretty poor (especially compared to the arc rifles in the same unit, which cost 10pts less). Aaaaaand it costs 25pts...

in an AT role, compare it to a lascannon

it has longer range, is less likely to glance or pen, and has less AP so it is less likely to explode. And it costs more.

Lascannons are the basic long range AT everything should be compared to, but even they are not great.

Now it comes on a unit that is relentless, so it can move and shoot but still

I don't really see it as an anti armor unit. if you wanna kill tanks use arc rifles.

This. I see the Transbalerific Aquanoty as being more for sniping out special weapons from other units. The trouble is, wounding on a 4+ against things, I don't see it being very effective even in that role, since you need those 6's for the Precision Shots to really count.

Also, the rangers have precision shots on their basic guns, so even then it's kinda redundant. And considering that the main purpose of precision shots is sniping out specialists in infantry squads and that infantry squads rarely have a toughness of higher than 4, the sniper rule won't make any difference. You're paying 25pts for 60""(which you probably won't need) and AP3...

you guys are making me reconsider my 3 arquebus loadout but I don't want my rangers to depend on a transport...would have been nice to have infiltrate or galvanic rifles to be 36" range

btw can the ranger alpha keep his galvanic rifle? even if he takes melee weapons...?

he can keep the rifle, but then he wouldnt get +1 attack for having a CCW and Pistol, because he wouldnt have a pistol.

He's not surviving in close combat anyway, even with a 4+ with 6+ FNP, so why not give him better shots? Just load him with the Omnispex and watch Tau, IG, DE, Tyranids, and Orks cry a lot.

Well there is one unit I know that the rangers will kill decently well, Tyranid Warriors. Other than that *shrug*. They are AP4 bolters, they have that going for them. The Vanguard will annihilate swarm units like little tyranids with a good roll.

AP4 range 30 bolters whose "sergeant" model can get a -1 to enemy cover. That's pretty damn good. It's like halfway between Tau and Marines and I kinda love it.

Necron warriors, eldar, scouts, there are plenty of targets for ap 4.

I am excited to see the possibilities.. for me its just the sheer number of shots that would really help my armies.

Edit: Also rapidfire 15 puts you outside most units reliable charge ranges.

just about every army but "space marine varients" are gonna be Armor 4 or worse. saying AP 4 is worthless is nuts. SMs are supposed to be heavy infantry with good armor. AP3 + should simply not be avaliable as a "basic troop gun"

Indeed, half the reason people bemoan marine units these days is how prevalent AP3/2/1 is, and that the points for a 3+ really don't get you very far. The less bladestorm and its ilk the better.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

+1, This. Imagine if Marines where 4+ in their saves. Then look at their stats, offensive firepower, etc and their points. Because in the current AP 1-3 rich meta, marines might as well be 4+... which makes them so not worth their points.
