Shield Bro I feel a little odd about - I actually wish there had been more world building or background on the bad guys - maybe next eps will give that? Honestly aside from the poor townsfolk I don't give a flying turd about the kingdom and religious order that the heroes have ostensibly been summoned to protect given how they have treated SheildBro himself...
That's kind of the point, the world is harsh and hateful, just like the real world.

Sure, sure, but so far all of that harsh and hatred is directed at ShieldBro at an almost comical level vs. the other summoned heroes who are just having a lark and everyone just totally kisses their rear ends in the Kingdom. I mean thats fine, certainly its there to make you root for the MC all the more, but at times it seems over the top...
Did you not watch the last few episodes? The ones showing a collapsed nation to the north, starving refugees, all because of the Bow hero's idiocy? Great lark there!

I get where he's come from though. Bow Bro never really gets in trouble for his gak. Neither does Spear bro or Sword bro and for most of their time in the plot they constantly end up making more trouble than they resolve, yet most of the in-universe populace seems to give them more props, credit, and respect. None of them ever really get called to task for fething up all the time, not even when the plot largely moves past them and they become irrelevant.

It is a weakness of the series early plot imo, and I really hope the anime manages to get into some of the later arcs cause they're much better with much lest wangst.

I can tell you that the reason the shield hero is treated poorly, while the others are not, has already been hinted at, and does get explained (most likely by the end of the season if my guess is correct)

So apparently Type-Moon has pulled a Gainax, where they've been making so much money over the past few years *stares at Fate/Grand Order* that their own accounting department gave up on keeping track of all of it and just started shoveling the money into bank accounts to be sorted later.

Except they never got around to the sorting and the Japanese IRS has come knocking for its money XD Actually kind of a tragedy, cause the head that's gone up on the chopping block is one of the guys who really made the company's abnormal corporate culture work, and I'm worried they'll never find a suitable replacement in the pretty straight lace Japanese business market.

Yikes. Even the yakuza have the sense to pay their taxes....

Definitely something to keep an eye on, if only so we get the third Heaven's Feel movie.

Speaking only from what I've heard on fan sites, this is apparently a common problem in the manga/anime industry. Especially among smaller production houses the people involved are often not the most business minded and they run afoul of technicalities and minor mistakes that become big problems once their franchise starts pulling in $20 billion a year.

But surely at least someone would have the sense to say "Hey, we have a lot of money now and we don't know how to sort this out. We should hire an accountant! And hey, its not like we cant afford it!"

So I binge-watched my way through the first season of Code Geass for the first time while ill. Why are people so sympathetic towards Lelouch while hating on what's-his-face-in-the-Lancelot? Like, the only reason reform from within the Britannian system didn't work was because Lelouch messed up Euphie by mistake. Am I missing something or have I just come across a strange part of the fandom?

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Side effect of being the protagonist to an extent. Both characters have sympathetic backgrounds, but LeLouch is the "hero" of the story while Suzaku mostly just gets in his way. You can easily reverse that statement and the same could be true but Suzaku isn't the primary POV or who the audience is encouraged to root for. At the same time, I feel like the narrative acknowledges LeLouch's faults, and the character himself tries to grow from them or at least make up for them (often not in the best ways) so there's a solid character arc to him throughout the series. Suzaku kind of goes from being a wangsty kid who killed his dad to a wangsty kid who wants to kill his best friend because his girlfriend got messed up by accident and kind of stays that way right up until the end of the series.

Also involved are events of season 2, where Suzaku kind of goes... full douche. You never go full douche.

EDIT: It also probably doesn't help that, given plot reveals later in the series, reforming the Empire in way Suzaku wanted to was ultimately a moot point.

Lelouch still has his flaws and while he may be someone who thinks he's a chess master, he is not an awesome warrior or has things go off without a hitch. He stays true to his ideals and works towards that end goal he so desires, even if the road he takes is a pretty messed up one with a lot of bodies along the way.

Suzaku is one of those "Honour before reason" types to a fault. Which makes the geass put on him all the more delicious. He pays for this all in the end though with his "death" and the second geass placed on him.

I liked neither of them much, always liked large ham Gottwald and Kallen more.

Also! OPM season 2 going live later today, aw yiss!

I'm rather pleased to discover today that Record of Lodoss War got a big re-release on Blueray/DVD combo with HD of some parts and generally good quality on the rest!

Now I just need to get that and some kind of blue-ray playing software for my computer (darn you MS why can't you just put it into WMP like you have for DVD's!!!)

Whilst very true, I had to fix your link because there's some swearing in there.

And OPMs2 kicked off yesterday, taking it nice and slow by finally giving us the story behind KING, the strongest man on earth.

OPMs2 seems to be lower quality, I mean it's only the first episode, but the fight scene felt rushed and didn't look as good as previous fight scenes imo.

That being said, this season is in for a wild ride.

OPM sadly has the problem every great first season has, the second rarely lives up to the expectations and hype of the original.

Just watched the new OPM, saw some slight animation differences but overall thought it was solid, looking forward to more.

Yeah, I follow the Youtube anime community a bit and they where all Freaking out over how bad the trailer was.
I didnt like this episode, but that was more because it felt like a prologue rather than an actual episode.
But I love Saitama, his relaxed attitude with king was great.

Shieldbro continues to be a reverse Slime in having a somewhat lacklustre adaptation with better source material (opposed to Slime's lacklustre source material with a better adaptation). Still enjoying it though.

Watched Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san because MEMES and it's silly and enjoyable.

So watched OPM S2:E2. After two episodes in, the series as defiantly taken a step back from season 1 particularly with some of the fight detail and the humor is "off". It's a shame that they couldn't bring back Shingo Natsume as director and instead handed it off to Chikara Sakurai whose biggest credits to date appear to be his stint on the Naruto TV series and a couple of Naruto Shippuden movies.

ITs fight are not up to par, but I always think second season never live up to first. First seasons always have the things going for them, nothing to live up to, nothing to compare it too.
But I find the humor still good.I love Saitamas weird confidence, where he knows he can take everyone in a fight and likely win, but never outright says it or really believes it.
Also Fubaki is kinda nice, I like the idea of a female counterpart of Genos, Higher ranked that Saitama, but learning from him.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I just realized something. The majority of Western Isekai is in LITERATURE.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, the entire Ring of Fire series, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland... John Carter of Mars, and even things like Tarzan and Don Quixote could be argued as Isekai as well. You could even argue The Time Machine.

In a way, a lot of Western Isekai works feature time travel or time manipulation in one way or another, which I think is interesting.

Whats somewhat ironic is Mob Psycho 100 season 2 IMHO was just a good and at times better than season 1 and there have been several series that did imrpove after season 1. Though granted, OPM season 1 did set the bar high, but if Mob Psycho could pull it off, why not OPM which argueably is bigger and more popular. I can't help but think given the studio and director doing OPM season 2 that they went with the B team and it shows.

As for other shows this season here are some of my early favorites;

Fruits Basket (reverse harem?)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (best shounen of the season?)
Cinderella Nine (more cute girls doing cute things, but with Baseball!)
Kono Oto Tomare! (I'm a sucker for music focused redemption stories)
Fairy Gone (charcter designs look awesome and world setting seems original)
