Thanks for the advice people it’s much appreciated, going to add code geass and beast and boy to my next order.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Finally got round to watching a few episodes of Vampire Princess Miyu. Its one of those I heard about back in the late 90s but only had so much money to spend on anime, which was quite expensive at the time. For light horror it was quite good, and the episode with the disappearing women in the subway was worthy of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Oh yeah! Little Witch Academia, both the two movies and the series, are fantastic.

Kill la Kill is another from Trigger, and thought some don't like it as much, it's filled with ridiculous anime goodness.

Same thing with Darling in the Franxx- another Trigger piece, but with a bit more of a subdued storyline (though the action is still crazy).

I would suggest Land of the Lustrous (Hiseki no ... something), which is on Prime. It's 3D anime done very right.

Rooster Teeth has done some Western 'anime' works which may or may not interest you, such as RWBY and GenLock.

Gotta second My Hero Academia- it's sort of the animated version of that "For everything you do, there's an Asian that does it better" for the Superhero genre, and I can see it replacing Bleach as one of the Big Three, as it's looking like it's going to have very good longevity.

Fate/Zero is also fantastic- it's a prequel to Fate/Stay Night, and I think is overall better for not having to stick to the light-novel stories.

There's all the Isekai stuff ('from another world' that is).

Sword Art Online is VERY divisive. Either you love it, and think it's a classic of science-fiction anime, or you HATE it and believe it should be scrubbed from the annals of the internet. I think it's fantastic, personally, though there are some weak portions. Do your research on this one, the shows get a little tangled.

Grimgar: a Fantasy of Ash is phenomenal. Technically isekai, but it watches more like a gritty drama of survival and pain.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is a fun one- there's a few 'I was Reincarnated' type series- this one is, I think, the first and most fleshed out, the others sorta copy the idea with greater or lesser success.

Overlord is pretty good. I think it meanders a bit too much, but many like it a lot.

Going back a little, there's some Magical Girl stuff to look at.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha is a fantastic series- it's essentially a magical Gundam series disguised with cute little girls in frilly dresses, and where the 'Befriending' meme came from if you've seen that around.

Madoka Magicka, as said before.

Pretty Cure- the various series are apparently pretty awesome on the action front, while again being cute little girls on the face of things.

Hrm... There's the varous Moe stuffs-

Symphony Euphonium I've heard was good

I got a friend who loves "Girls Last Tour".

Girlz und Panzer is well liked.

And then there's the BEST shows- not strictly Anime, but still perhaps some of the best animation to ever come out in serialized format:

Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Avatar: Legend of Korra (opinions are divided on this one, mostly because executive meddling screwed up their production schedule).

These shows are baller. The Bomb. fantastich. Muy Bien. AtLA itself is just... wow.

Watch it, if you watch nothing else.

There's also Voltron:Legendary Defender, and The Dragon Prince, which are being made by essentially splinters of the AtLA and LoK crews, who bring that high quality to these shows as well. Though The Dragon Prince has some issues with odd framerate choices in the first season.

I was about to say "how could you forget that one!"

You can try this site https://www.livechart.me/ . You can browse through all the anime seasons by year and sort by popularity and then pick a few that fit your tastes. I'll add a few series that I like (all in alphabetical order, generally with good production values, there may be some repeats but I tired to not post stuff that I remember from other posts):

* 3-gatsu no Lion: Superb drama/slice of life about a professional shogi player (Japanese chess) and the people around him.
* A Place Further than the Universe: Adventure series about a bunch of girls who want to go to Antarctica for various reasons (so much better than this description).
*Demi-chan wa Kataritai: About the everyday (school) life of demi-humans and the challenges they encounter.
*Haikyuu: Sports anime about volleyball. One of my favourite series. You don't even need to be interested in volleyball (or sports) to like this one.
*Hakumei to Mikochi: Fantasy Iyashikei about tiny people living in a forest. When you need something soothing.
* Hinamatsuri: Technically it's a (Sci-Fi) comedy but it's so much more. Really great, you should know if it's for you after the first episode. I can't really explain it.
* Houseki no Kuni: Living (humanoid form) gems, and the youngest one is looking for something to do. Also really good, also hard to explain.
* Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru: Sports anime about long distance running. Great ensemble cast of characters.
* Kobayashi-san Chi no Maidragon: Slice of life comedy about an office worker and her maid (dragon), also touches on the concept of what a family is. The only downside is a character that shows up later: Lucoa (but she's bearable because there's enough of all the other, good stuff)
* Made in Abyss: Great adventure series but also with some harsh moments
* Mob Psycho 100: Don't get dissuaded by the unique art style. It's one of the best.
* Re:CREATORS: For some reason fictional characters end up in the real world and all the issues that entails
* Sakura Quest: Slice of life about young adults working on revitalising a region. It's has comedy but also realistic stuff about trying to do your best in a job you never really wanted, and how different generations (young/old) collide and where they can find common ground. May take a bit to get into but it's also really good.
* Yuru Camp△: Another Iyashikei, this one about camping. It's pure bliss, there's no significant story but if you need to wind down then get some warm food and watch an episode of this.

Oh! Monster Musume is a good ecchi as well. Like, nothing hardcore. The story is wonderfully feels-heavy, though. And it's hilarious.

No-game-no-life was one that got a lot of attention for a while.

Honestly, there's a ton of good ones from that long a time period.

I'll triple-recommend Houseki no Kuni (or Land of the Lustrous). It's an atmospheric masterpiece.

Franxx is not actually a Trigger anime per say, they just did some of the animation for it, but they didn’t write it.

It's also not a good show. If you want a good Trigger show, you watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Anyone else hype for Danberu Nan-Kiro Moteru?

I'm not sure what the privacy laws in Japan are like, but I wonder if Naoko Yamada was there? She's one of the very few female directors in Japan, and quite talented. Hoping for the best possible outcomes for all those affected. This Senseless violence must end.

According to Wiki Naoko Yamada has been reported to be confirmed alive.

So sad.

That is a pretty high death toll for an arson attack though. Makes me think the building didn't have adequate fire protection.

Details are still scarce, but it looks like he used an accelerate that engulfed the building quickly, it's likely that everyone was already in danger on the upper floors before they even realized their was a problem.

It also sounded like the arsonist managed to hit most of the entrances at once. If that were true then chances are it not only engulfed the building fast, but also meant that even once people were aware of the problem there wasn't an escape pathway for them.

The death toll is shockingly high, esp considering that arson at places like worksites tends to be something we think of as happening in the evenings or night time and thus the number of people at risk is dramatically lower. This is a very brutal and very nasty attack indeed.

AP reported that most of the bodies were recovered on the third floor, in the stairwell to the roof. There was no escape, no hope for these people. They also report that the perp was the victim of his own crime, suffering severe burns. A very painful set of burns.

It's a slow burner right now but I'm liking what I've seen so far, ending right on a cliffhanger at the end of the third episode. Sadly episode four is not happening until next week.

They're making that into a show? I really liked the manga.

Where is it hosted? I can't find it on crunchyroll.

It's on Amazon Prime. Because, ya know, streaming services are now just Cable TV except somehow worse.

On moon miranda.

So, I decided to go old school and start watching old 80'/90's cyberpunk stuff again, watched Cyber City Oedo 808.

It was everything I wanted out of it, it was jank and hokey, campy and over the top, dark and misanthropic, with tons of neon and just the right number of mohawks.

All 3 OVA eps are floating around on YouTube, unfortunately I haven't found any high quality versions better than 480p anywhere yet on torrent sites, not sure if this one ever got a release newer than VHS

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

Got a chance to see Makoto Shinkai's newest movie tenki no ko(weathering with you) on the opening day. If you liked the previous one your name this one shouldn't dissapoint you.

Trailers were done nicely in misleading couple plot points. Or i'm just easily fooled

And loved your name cameo's.

Brilliant series. They did release 808 on dvd at one point, but Rory McFarlane's UK ost was replaced with the japanese ost. A quick google suggests Anime Limited is bringing it to Blu-Ray along with Rory's soundtrack...
