I started Nanana's Buried Treasure, very promising. I also watch a few episodes of Space Dandy, the art style and animation reminds me of older anime, but really well done.

Well, Knights of Sidonia is a Netflix Original- that means that it's produced specifically by Netflix, for Netflix- it's not meant to sell you a manga or light novel, but rather to sell, well, Netflix.

Did anyone watch episode 10.5 of Kekkai Sensen? I know it's a recap episode, just making sure that it's not worth checking out in case there's a little bit of plot.

Same. It was a fun show and the trap rooms were always awesome.
And you guys weren't kidding about Triage X.... Seeesh, what a horrible last ep. The formula of ass kicking action and ero was great, I wonder what the hell posessed them to just shove fan service everywhere as a final episode o.O

I mean there are only 10 volumes of the manga released, most of the volumes appear to only be 3 chapters long. I don't think this will end in the middle of the story, it'll probably give us the conclusion of the current storyline which will probably be somewhere at either chapter 18 or 19. It's kind of astounding that they've gotten 12 episodes out of so few chapters considering most episodes adapt about 3 chapters.

Fun fact: Asian's ear wax is different from Westerners'. We have "Wet" ear wax, they have "Dry" ear wax. Same thing with body odour, Asians don't have as many glands as westerners, hence the lack of deodorants in Japan. Yes kids, be sure to pack some deodorants for your trip to Japan or you are kinda screwed.

Yes...
Ear Cleaning is considered to be an intimate act in Japan, which is the duty of a wife to a husband.
They have some freaking strange customs.
A lot of this also has to do with some "off-label" uses of the ear-cleaning tool that are depicted in Feudal Era erotic artworks.

Interesting. That explains the...interesting reaction of the cleanee (?)

My only exposure to Madoka has been seeing Hentai Doujinshi of Madoka Magica.
Is the series bizarre or something?
The Doujinshi don't exactly delve much into the plot of the series (not that I have read them - just saw a friend had them, and was more than a little surprised at what they turned out to be. I previously was unaware of Hentai Doujinshi).

more info than i needed Its a magical girl anime that has more twists then an m night shyamalan movie.
Also the writer is known for that kinda nonsense iirc.

Speaking of which:
Kyousougiga!!!
I CANNNOT recommend it enough!
I need to make a list of Surrealist Anime.
On that note:
Nichijou ([My] Ordinary Life) has to be the coolest surrealist Slice of Life anime in existence:
The Mio raving scene in the Manga Drawing episode (where she asks Yuuko to go buy her more paper) is one of the most hilarious scenes I have ever seen in ANYTHING (sorry it is in three parts. It is freaking epic):
Nichijou is awesome for its relentless mockery of other anime tropes (such as energy blasts coming from people, or the classroom focus of Shonen Anime).
Yeah, we were talking about Madoka Magica just before you started posting in the thread. I still haven't made it past the 11:30 mark of the first episode.
It's magical girls taken in a very different route than what is expected by the genre. I think too many things have been spoiled for me by r/anime, which might be why I can't find it worth the watch.

BeAfraid, I love you for loving Nichijou and bizarre anime. I have posted here several pearls from Nichijou because I consider it an absolute blast and how random and fun it is. I cried with laughter because of it. The sketch when the dogs bit the girls is one of my favorite moments but this one for me is pure perfection:
Spoiler:
Knights of Sidonia is a freakin' roller coaster: 2-3 eps ago I was laughing my ass off with the GILF, the harem and all that. This last episode? I didn't even notice the 20 mns going by because of how intense it was. This was action and gak happening non stop with all kinds of awesome.

OMG! The Dog sketch is one of my favorites as well... Or the Scene where Mio Looses it when a cop confronts them about Counterfeit Bills, and she had Yaoi Manga she has drawn in her bag (which matches the description of the counterfeiter)!

July 3rd, the 2nd Season of Knights of Sidonia will be posted to Netflix.
I no longer do "TV."
I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crunchyroll, and Funimation (plus a streaming service for the few Prime Cable Channels that provide it).
Usually there is more anime than I can watch, but this winter and spring have been really sparse, with WAY too many Romantic Comedy Anime (or Harem Comedy, which I get bored with).
It actually turns out to be about 1/4 the cost of cable (I think I pay $40 for everything - but then my family has a shared account to Amazon Prime and Netflix).

I really don't think many of the original series are for you. You'd probably enjoy Gundam Wing, 00, and *gag* G Fighter more with their main characters. Maybe ZZ, Judau is a lot different from his counterpart Kamille, but he is still a kid thrust into a universal war

I've seen about half of Wing, none of 00, all of G Fighter, and that's about it.
I'm attributing my dislike of Kamille to the era in which he was written, same with Amuro. I'm gonna just work my way through the series until ive seen them all (for the most part). Though I'm pretty excited to get to Turn A.
At the end of MSG, I was able to look back and tell that I enjoyed the series, but Amuro bugged me right up until he met Lilah(spelling?). I would have liked more of the newtype development plot. I feel like that was skipped between MSG and Zeta. Now that might be solved by War in the Pocket, but I won't know until I watch it.

I was thinking that there were just the 25 episodes on crunchyroll. Looking up some stuff this morning I realized how much more of the show I didn't have access to.
So it's been put on the back burner for the time being.

No, if you want a lot of newtype plot then I would suggest watching Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny. (Although they are called coordinators and are slightly different) Newtypes aren't really something heavily talked about in any of the series. It is just meant to be a vague idea of human evolution in space. The gundam wiki could give you a clearer picture than any of the series.
An 0080 War in Pocket doesn't have anything to do with newtypes. 0080, 08th MS Team, and 0083 Star Dust Memories are all about the war between Zeon and Earth from different points of view. I would recommend that if you watch one of them you don't watch any other series before completing those since they happen close together, between MSG and Zeta. The order would technically be 08th MS Team, 0080 War in Pocket, then 0083 Star Dust Memories, but as long as you watch 0083 last it shouldn't be confusing

It's not so much that I want a lot of newtype plot, but it's like for the first 2/3rds of MSG it's "Man the Gundam is a mobile suit that can learn how its opponents fight and adapt." and then all of a sudden it's "Hey people living in space have super mental powers!" And they don't really go into it. If there were rumors going around White Base or Jaburo about some other space born pilot being potentially better than Char, and these recruits are popping up more and more in the academy, but no one knows for real, kind of just keep it on the outskirts of the show's plot and then when Lalah is introduced we get a better explanation of what a newtype is, I would have been a little more okay with the plot of Mobile Suit Gundam as a whole instead of being okay with the earlier episodes, thinking the middle episodes dragged on, and then enjoying the last 8 or so.
Just my little qualms with the series. I certainly don't hate Gundam after watching MSG.
