Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans - Action, Drama, Mecha. Has potential to be as good as UC and CC stories. Features designs from Yoshiyuki Tomino (creator of Gundam), and story by Mari Okada (Fate/Stay Night, Toradora, Black Butler). Should be more serious than last few series. Iron Blooded Orphans is streaming on Daisuki.net for free (with ads) right now. (Alf's Note: I'm just looking at it on Daisuki atm while writing this up, so I'm not familiar with the site).

Yeah definitely excited for this one. Age had too 'morning children's cartoon' style animation for me to enjoy it much (ironic, as it was definitely one of the darker Gundam's in recent years imo), and Recongusta G felt far far more like an unofficial Eureka 7 sequel than Gundam.

Iron Blooded Orphans has a very After War Gundam X feel to it to me, and Mari Okada is a capable writer when he isn't making soft porn

So he isn't a capable writer when making soft porn?
I would think that would be easy to write for.

Rabbit, Yuru Yuri, and Lances and Masques are about all I'm into this season. People were kind of ambivalent about Lance, but it appeals to my streak of romanticism and 19th century literary style.

So she is.
What does series composition mean? Sound track? Apparently she did the series composition for Meteor of the Gemini and the Black Butlers.

Series composition is what MAL and other places seem to use for writer.

Feth if I know? My initial research for those lists was based on Wikipedia saying who the writer was, and cross referencing that with MyAnimeList. There is this decent explanation, but I still can't say for certain.

So it sounds like it's the person that gets to decide in the script wtf everything looks like and works with the writers to make it all fit. They, as the person in charge of the series composition, give the script to the director who then goes through and makes the decisions on how each scene should be animated based on the script and their own artistic vision.

And that kids is how that lens flare ended up in your favorite anime's pinnacle panty shot!

It's too early to tell if Iron Blodded Orphans wil be good, but it looks promising. Reconquiesta in G was so incredibly disappointing. But Unicorn and Origins is fantastic, so they do still know how to make series that don't suck

It was explained to me awhile back as this; A series composer is the person who sits the project team down and says "Episode one introduction of key characters and plot. Episode two, we add the side kick. Episode eight? Beach episode! let the viewers relax before we kill the love interest." Their job is essentially to layout the series; what happens in what episode and the overarching narrative of the show, the basic character conceptions. Because most anime's are produced with the intention of only lasting X number episodes (as opposed to Western productions which tends to trying and keep a show going as long as people will watch it), there's a greater emphasis on getting the story done and told in however many episodes are being made. It's not really directing or story boarding. It's kind of like being the navigator for the project who keeps everything on course to completion in the budget/episodes allowed.

As to my comment, I'm mainly pocking some affectionate fun Fate/Stay Night, which was essentially soft porn when it was first created

The original Fate/Stay Night was pretty much soft porn because the visual novel is pretty much such porn.

Which might explain why we never got an official English version (step it up mangagamer).

Although Nasu hates the old version and considers Realta Nua the proper edition, so maybe we'll get that.

And as long as I'm wishing for horses, can we please have a remake of F/SN? I grow weary of defending the DEEN anime.

And the second half of UBS dubbed on Netflix would be nice, too. But at least we have more Yuru Yuri (well, tomorrow we will)

Ya Noragami ep 2 was pretty good, I'm looking forward to the season. feth Nora and the Doctor though
Episode 2 of MSG Iron-Blooded Orphans was alright too. They sure took their time with the dialogue scenes though. I feel like it could have been cut a bit here and there so more plot could happen, but that's alright.

I love how good the animation for one punch man is. This is amazing.

And it's even funnier animated. They nailed the voice for Saitama.

I'm thinking the issue with IBO's pacing in this episode is that it's at least 25 episodes, so we've got lots of time for character development and plot but we have to get the boring gak out of the way. I was actually fine with the dialog because it forced me to not really deal with the fact that there were dead kids all over the place.

So I blitzed through Prison School yesterday. Had watched about 5 or 6 episodes then dropped it.

All I can say is I feel sorry for those guys. The amount of torture and crap they went through!

Gakuto especially since

its just heartbreaking. I really started to hate the "wardens" at that point.. The sheer amount of censoring is nuts.

Do you like a main cast of like 15-25? Do you like supernatural? Do you like a guy that can throw vending machines? Do you like Russian Sushi?

Yes you should watch it regardless of whether or not you answered yes to any of the above.

Picked up some videos over the past few weeks. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Akira 25th Anniversary Edition.

VHD was pretty cool, but I think I need to rewatch it. the pacing was kind of slow and nothing really made sense until the very end.

I already know I'm going to have to rewatch Akira. It's really good, but I'm so friggin' lost. Also I've heard that the 80s English dub has a damn good cast, so I'll probably watch it with that dub.
