If they're influential enough they can get rezzed. If not... well, Slaanesh time.

Depends on how good they are in with a Haemonculi coven.

If they are in good standing, and that Dark Eldar also paid up, he'll be restored. If not, well, Slaanesh time.

They get whatever little bit of organic tissue left of them chucked into a machine which rebuilds their body and their soul is sucked back in.

As to what happens to Dark Eldar if they permanently die, it depends on your view. As a Dark Eldar, horrible, horrible, horrible things happen that cannot be spoken of in front of even the most vile company. To everyone else, the Dark Eldar in question is subjected to the wonders of karma.

Bad things. If you're a Dark Eldar it's best to either pay the Haemonculi what they want or not die.

Yea, I think it's specifically mentioned that something like a hand is enough for the Homunculi to rebuild the body in its entirety (so retreating Kabalite warriors pick up bits and pieces). Either in the codex or an interview with Phil Kelly and Jes Goodwin (it's on youtube, good stuff!).

And the Angels of Darkness descended on pinions of fire and light... the great and terrible dark angels.
He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

Is the process that rebuilds their bodies akin to cloning? As in, could they offer up a couple limbs, build a couple bodies, then grab one of these new bodies and go about, not needing to worry about their remaina getting retrieved, since they already have a body in stock waiting for their soul after death?
Or is all that impossible and/or implausible?

In the books it's even less. They resurrect some long dead Dark Eldar hero with a few cells I think

The BL novels "Path of the Dark Eldar" unsurprisingly goes into this subject in a major way - just finished reading it - great read

Things I took from it:

Dark Eldar souls can be resurrected - but the longer they have been dead and the smaller the sample to resurrect from will make it harder and require more energy. This is taken from the usual source so torture, despair and psychological torment of one (or more often) many victims. There is a increasing chance that the longer an individual is dead, they are tainted or possessed. Really challenging resurrections require special souls to sacrifice and/or torment, really special souls. Doing stuff like this however often has major consequences due to the forces sued and unleashed.

There are deaths that can not normally be resurrected from - glass plague turns all of the body to glass so no samples left to use for instance, being consumed by daemons.....

They can also switch/jump bodies with the right Hormunclus and the correct preparation but again its very dangerous - even if it works. Also unless the body is a clone (and hence "lesser" - ie vat born) you run the risk of not being recognised as who you are - or just as likely - it being used as an excuse by your enemies, retainers, friends, passing Dark Eldar to kill you and take everything you own and laugh about it.

"Trueborn" Dark Eldar are exactly that - its part of their status - "vat born" are lesser throughout the city.............Status is a major thing in the Dark city.

A certain harlequin even speculates that all Souls remain eternal even if consumed by the Gods of Chaos - simply forming part of the whole..................so resurrection is always possible if not to be encouraged in many cases

but in the end - all this is plot driven

A little off topic, what happens when two Vat born mate and create a Dark Eldar the normal way, which.. While I would assume is sex, they are space aliens so maybe they just hold hands and scream loudly till ones pregnant idk.

But to the point, will this child of two vatborn parents be a True born? Or will he/she inherit the Vat born title?

If any Dark Eldar is lucky enough to get properly raised -- as opposed to being artificially raised into adulthood without childhood, one is a proper true-born. Think about it: how can a low-born Eldar possibly afford to spend decades, if not centuries raising a child in the Commorragh? One such child must hail from a house in power. So the power alone grants them the privilege. Although why one such individual is superior than the vat-borns other than the title and the possibly better equipments they have is debatable...

I think as far as why trueborn are more respected is because they're natural, they are the legacy of the Eldar continued rather than artificially created.

Quite possibly but True born are rare because of the dangers of pregnancy - ie weakness - being secure enough to take the time and the required defensive precautions would be rare for those not of the highest status - ie True born.

Its not impossible but unusual and very risky - not only because the parent may not be of any assistance to the mother - in fact making her pregnant may be a way of weakening her as part of a plot........that's quite Dark Eldar. I guess a clever vat born mother with the right favours and connections could pull it off - and would likely be feted and persecuted for it!

lastly - the noble True born would likely see such a child as an insult - and that's not a good thing.................

I would also think that aside from any complications with a pregnancy, Dark Eldar Trueborn would be more likely to be fully fit and have everything in the right spot. That is to say, every time someone is cloned or vat-grown, there's always a chance that something will go wrong, or that they'll be not quite the same as when they started. I would think that - despite having very similar stats on the tabletop, Trueborn are a bit more skilled in all respects, even if the difference isn't enough to justify them having higher BS or WS in the game.
