Subject: Just ran into the biggest TFG I'll probably ever meet. At least I got petty revenge.

Warning: This post serves little purpose other than me ranting because typing about it helps me lessen the frustration I am feeling.
So I was at a lfgs today. I was playing 1850 of fully painted necrons.
At one point, two random guy comes. All tables are occupied and they go to one of the tables and ask them whether they're done yet. They say no and then they come over to our table and ask us the same thing.
We were actually close to finished. We had hoped to play another game, but we considered it common courtesy to let other people play as well.
So these guys stick around the table when suddenly one of them feels the need to start commenting on my paint job and how I could improve it. Nothing offensive, things about how I could use edge highlighthing and drybrushing to make details stand out more. I politely tell him that I appreciate the advice, but that sadly I wouldn't be able to do much with it since I am colorblind and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference even if I did use edge highlighting and similar techniques because they mostly rely on colors that are pretty similar.
The guy, suddenly very angry, throws a tantrum about how that shouldn't matter and I shouldn't make 'petty excuses' for being lazy when painting. He told me I should just read the names on the pots and 'paint my army better' because 'other people have to look at it as well when it's on the table'. He then went on on how much he would hate playing against 'such an ugly army'. It really hurt hearing this. I know my armies are not pro painted, but there's not THAT much I can do about it because of my color blindness (and that stings). Regardless, I put a lot of work into painting my models to the best of my ability.
This went on for a few minutes and some people had already come over to see what the ruckus was about. The store manager came over to tell the guy that rude behavior and yelling would not be tolerated. He shut up but as soon as the owner was gone he started making snarky remarks on every other move I'd make.
I was very frustrated at this point and the only thing that kept me from decking the guy at one point was the fact that I knew I would have my revenge very soon.
I took my phone, sent a text to my opponent across the table and told him to just re-deploy after the game ended. The guy laughs when he reads it and says: 'Okay, got it' to himself, much to the confusion of the two guys beside the table.
So about 5 minutes later, the game finishes and asshat and friend start picking up their cases, and we just start re-deploying. Obviously dumbstruck, the guy just utters: "What the fuuu...?
I turn to face him and with the biggest friendliest smile I can muster and tell him: "We told you we were already finished. I never said we'd actually let you play when we finished, now did I?".
The guy's face went so red that even I could tell the difference and he starts yelling at me. Store owner rushes in and tells the guy 'enough for today' and sends him off. The other guy just said: "Not cool bro" and followed his friend out of the store.

You handled that well.
Sorry to hear that you had that encounter though. I'd never berate someone for their painting, doubly so if I found out about some sort of impairment like yours. Also, congrats on having a fully painted army! I know few people personally who can claim that.
Hopefully you don't run into him again.

I'm stunned at the lack of common decency that guy displayed. Yeah your revenge was petty - but to Hell with that guy. At least you have identified someone you would never play against, and can now avoid him.

Good job on keeping your cool and for having a painted army. I never make fun of others paint jobs because my own werent that good when i was younger. My guess is that chances are, had he got his models out of his case, they likely wouldnt have even been painted.
So funny to watch someone make fun of another's paint job and then play ith a blank grey army themselves.

He sounds a right idiot. Down right rude.
Being colour blind, the fact you managed to get a army painted at all I'd say is a no small achievement.
Hopefully you never come across him again.

Shame you don't live closer, we'd happily do your highlighting for you
A close friend of mine has nerve damage, not sure what all caused it but he can't hold his hands steady. The store owner is actually the one that did the effects on all his power swords actually.
Also, there is nothing wrong base coated models, it shows that you want your army to look better than what a lot of people use. Put your best effort into your painting and you will make me a very happy opponent, regardless of how that painting turns out. And I can't imagine it being any worse than mine anyways

I wonder if he came into the store intending to start something? I mean that sounds almost like the kind of attack that wouldn't have any prior reason unless he specifically was coming into the store to see if he could rile someone up.
Regardless, good job not blowing a gasket. As much as I like the idea of just wailing on the guy or going outside to see if I could find his car and slit his tires, that never actually ends well.
As frustrating and angry as that situation sounds, I think you should get yourself a cheeseburger. That always makes me feel better

I quoted the above sentences because they show that your FLGS players and owner are obviously great peeps and should be thanked for fostering a great gaming environment. Often, when I read threads such as this one, I get to the end a sad tale where someone had to deal with a horrible person and am left wondering "why didn't the store owner (or other players) step in?" I can, with a 100% certainty, say that if I witnessed someone acting like a total tool to someone for no apparent reason, I'd step in and do SOMETHING.
Kudos to those around you, and great job by you.

Being colorblind myself (blue green) I feel your pain. I've tried some of the highlighting, sometimes it's hard to tell if you put too much on and it leaves a big splotch on the mini. Frustrating when someone points it out on me. :/ normally I just dry brush with the same color after I do my washes. My minis have depth, but tend to look grungier than most. Which is cool with my wolves/Orks but kinda sucks with my eldar.

I think there is a time and a place for critiquing and this guy clearly feels his word is needed everywhere and that anyone would want to listen to him. You would think after hearing the reason why you have problems with shades on models he would have thought "Oh i kind of put my foot in it probably better if i drop it" but no he carries on and even gets angry over nothing. Sounds a bit like the alpha nerd know it all type who think they are the Jesus of war games. What you did to them sucked too but karma is karma i guess you could say you were just standing up to his bullying without getting angry and starting a fight because you would have been asked to leave also. On the other side if you had backed down and walked away letting them have the table he would have probably felt his behavior was okay.
