They're called Space Marines. They come in many varieties colors. They're produced by Games Workshop, and the associated game is just as good as RagingHeroes's game.

Sooo... anyone else lost on that pile of nonsense about how they're doing the pledge manager this time?

It kind of makes sense, actually. Much better than them just blindly ordering X of something in a wave when they likely only need Y to meet the demand. It could speed things up a little whilst also giving people more flexibility with what they actually want as and when final renders become available. Given the flexibility, it should also mean they get a steady stream of extra funds over the next two years as people decide to spend a little more.

Could you please explain their system in plain English?

I can give it a go. Keep in mind that this is my interpretation of it, not something official.

1) They'll add all of the unlocked items to the pledge manager (mostly concept art)
2) Next they'll add your pledge value as store credit.
3) You'll be able to log in but not buy anything using the store credit (I imagine that you'll not be able to buy anything directly as well)
4) At this stage, they'd like you to make a wish list of the items you want. (Lets them get a rough idea of the numbers, but it's just a wish list not an order)
5) As they're ready to start producing items, they'll add the final renders / photos to the pledge manager and mark them as available to order.
6a) You can update your wish list based off the new renders (take things off, put things on)
6b) At this point, if everything you want is available or you want to split your shipping, you can move some/all of the items on your wish list to the shopping cart and check out.
7) Repeat steps 6a and 6b as often as you wish. Though each time you check out you'll need to pay some shipping fees.

Put another way, the pledge manager will be like having your spread sheet of what you'd like visible to RH whilst also making it easier to buy things from it.

That sounds like a massive pain the in ass/burden on me as a customer. So I just need to keep checking the PM? Hope the stuff I want is still in stock when the other item comes in?

That's not a pain, it's quite clever as it gives us the flexibility and choice to get what we want when we want it if we want to pay extra shipping. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill!

I'd hope that they'd tie the updates on the pledge manager into the monthly KS updates that they've promised. But yes, it could quite easily turn into a hassle for the backer to keep on top of.

Does this mean the KS delivery will be at the same time as the product comes in to the general store for other customers or am I misunderstanding?

Now I really want to link to some Oglaf strip, but I cannot because it would break the rules of Dakka. So I am just going to say virgincobbler, Oglaf, and if you end up watching a very NSFW strip that makes fun of this stupid trope, that will totally not be my fault . But do not, if you are under 18, right?

I must admit that the "pledge manager" SOUNDS pretty smart.
1. You're not locked in
2. You can always add more stuff
3. You know exactly when what is finished and could be shipped to you.
4. It's absolutely up to you how many shipments you'll get.

I like that.

And +1 for Oglaf references

Bit confused - which bit is the problem with the artwork? Kelly Hu wore about the same (or nothing) in the named film in her role - its a cheesecake image but that's RH?

The Oglaf stuff sounds a bit dodgy, never heard of it?

Tropes are Tropes - this is def one and they slapped the whole sexy but unattainable virgin stic on this one - and it looks great Girls I know suggest its a standard tool in their armoury........

so back on the pledge manager - have they said if product will be available for retail at the same time?

None. Just questioning the relevancy of mentioning the oracle is virgin.

I've not seen anything about when things will hit retail. I'd hope that there's at least a little gap between them becoming available to backers and the general public. It'd not be too much work to move a previous set of figures to general sale as they add the next lot.

Sounds like one for the heralds to pass up the chain though.'

Most of TGG1 Wave 3 won't even be hitting retail till this time next year or later, so I imagine there will be a reasonable amount of delay depending on how fast they start putting the new orders to forge. If some of the figures are say... 80% they could easily start adding TGG2 minis to the production queue right behind TGG1 Wave 3 stuff and not have a production gap.

Such a plan would be... delicious.

Had a wonder through their update and got this bit:

While there is a very strong chance that you will receive all of your Rewards way before they become available at retail, there is always a possibility that some TGG2 minis go on sale before then, especially if you choose to save on Shipping costs and wait for ALL the TGG2 minis to be produced before receiving your Rewards Selection. We believe that the very special deal, the Freebies, and the exclusive content we provide with the TGG2 KS largely compensates for this slight possibility. However, if you are not comfortable with this, please do not back this KS and wait for the TGG2 to be available at retail.

hmm from last KS experience I am def waiting for retail but then likely pick up some - especially if they match the concept art- the final ogre woman from the last one was a major change :(

None. Just questioning the relevancy of mentioning the oracle is virgin
Depends on her background I guess - if that fact is important to her role or the source of power then guess its important................

The notion that purity enhances magical potential is hardly limited to sexual purity. Pure unspoiled lands are thought in many settings to provide more intense magical potential; in many settings and/or beliefs ritual items are required to be of the purest construction and material; rituals of 'cleansing' are common to belief systems in this world and almost every imaginary one; there are many religions, real or make-believe, that distance themselves from 'corrupting influences' in order to keep themselves unblemished and more in tune with their faith. (Not to mention that we haven't yet been told her virginity is tied to her powers--many religions have people who forsake one or more earthly pleasures in order to show their devotion to the divine. For an organization with a heavy Roman Catholic influence, that does not seem out of character.)

I understand that there are some issues people where people are going to disagree on where the line is. I just don't think picking a fight over Dolarys's virginity is one with any real ground to stand on.

I know, I know. It's a stupid, archaic archetype that we as a society should be past by now. Just trying to lighten the mood.

The fact that more people don't know about Oglaf is a crying shame. Hilarious, but extremely NSFW, though. Go down that rabbit hole at your own risk.

I've uploaded pictures from my second wave off tgg1 to try and show their style and quality. I've been very happy with the figures and the swappable.ity of the kits has been very good. They need more poses for just shooting straight forward. They have a lot of running, standing straight up, or shooting to the side! Very happy with what they have so far and I'm in for $500 for this tgg2 as well now.
