I think they did at one stage move the molds to another company due to having trouble with the first though, not sure if it was the plastic ones or not.
Just checked it was the plastic molds.

Well it’s February and we are still waiting on the plastics.
This past week, the molds were moved to a new vendor since the old one wasn’t getting the job done. We hope to get some good news next week. We are, of course, very sorry about the continued delay. It’s of critical importance to us too.

Actually, the digital rule book files are safe. The publisher for my Martian War novel did a set of them for Ernie (which he never distributed) so I assume he still has a copy. I'll have to check.

Wishful thinking here, but assuming the plastic molds are indeed all gone and buried, I'd love to see a partnership with PSC to resurrect the Tanks and Martians with their quality. Just thinking how a single sprue could contain all those conversion bit for the different specialty tanks.

Okay, here's the latest information on the status of the molds:

Things are sounding pretty good despite the naysayers' doom and gloom

except Scott I never claimed the molds were all destroyed, right now as it stands there were 2 metal molders 2 plastic molders and the resin molds done in house, both metal molders (one of whom i know did SpinCast molding of which money is still owed them) still has the molds along with AD's other molds for their other lines, the other metal molder I could not get any responses from in regards to those molds(certain tanks and parts and such, the plastic molds half of them were recycled (don't know about other half) (at one of the companies, the other company I could not find, and the resin molds like I said are missing. go read what I said.
the problem is the Resin molds are the key to the whole thing since they were the molds for the hard to get Martian models and such, without them you will still be stuck with the models that are still available thru various sources, wish them luck on finding them but think that is not going to go well.

But you did say some of them were recycled. Ironclad Games is saying none of the molds were recycled.
Also, Ironclad claims there were 3 casting companies, and you say there were 4.
The mystery builds!
I've sold most of my Martians and specialized US tanks, but I have kept the majority of my steam tanks and US infantry. I am hoping Ironclad successfully brings this line back so I can play AQMF, but if not I can use the steam tanks and my two Land Iron Clads in games of 15mm steampunk Ogre.

technically 5 if you count the in house resin stuff here is the breakdown of how the molds were done, 1 metal factory did infantry and legs, the other metal factory did tanks and parts, 1 plastic factory did stands, markers and assorted items, 1 plastic factory did the Tripods and steam tank sprues, the specialty pods and such were done in house in Resin, rumour has it another company was also involved in the plastics but not sure.

the resin moulds are fairly irrelevant as they don't last long, and need remaking from master casts (or the original sculpts), and it's the latter that it's going to be crucial for them to have

problem is all those the masters and resins are missing I heard he used them to pay some people he owed but can't get confirmation on that, nor what happened to them at all. let me explain one of the items I went hunting for was the Harvester mold, I found the legs and arms but could not find the body, its like the body never existed.

I believe this was from the inventory they did in Alien Dungeon's Pennsylvania Store. They said they were moving everything from there to their facility in St. Louis (I think it was St. Louis, somewhere out that way.)

sadly don't see the Harvester mold, also think some of those molds were for making samples and such, you can tell the one mold has a brick pattern on the outside that is from using LEGO for a mold case.

If you read the text that goes with the photos it indicates that what they show is a just a sample and that there are more they didn't post pictures of. And that they have confirmed that other molds are being held by casting companies.

yeah but think if they had they had the Harvester mold they would have showed that off due to its desirability. and the harvester mold was a resin mold and they would have had it with the others.

Having talked with the new owners (both on forums, via e-mail and in a phone conversation) I have come to believe that they are looking at this as a business proposition rather than some labor of love. The main owner wouldn't know a Harvester from a hole in the ground and would not give it any special significance. Right now they are figuring out what they have and what they have to do to get back in production so they can start bringing in money. A very sound business move IMHO

actually a wise move would have been to start from scratch, to use any of the molds the other companies have they will want to be paid for past debts, especially since they cannot get money from the previous owners, until then they will sit on the molds as is their right to do so.

I don't believe that is the case, but I don't really know. The new owners say they hope to have things back in production by the fall, but can't make any guarantees. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

well that was the terms set by one of the casters, evidently AD left owing them quite a bit.

they don't. but they also don't have to relinquish the molds either, if the new company wants them they have to pay for them.

I don't know about that. I'm not a legal expert, but if the molds were the property of Robot Peanut Studios, then they would be considered part of the company assets to be disbursed. Now it's possible the molds might have been given to the casting company as part of the settlement, but if not then the new owner of AQ might own them free and clear. I'll be interested to see what the case is.

or most likely which is the case in one situation the molds were leased by AD and while they are the only ones who could make things from the molds, they did not own the molds outright. for allegedly having so much, this new company seems to be hemming and hawing for some reason.

That's not the impression I get. They seem to be moving forward like gangbusters. And, if the molds are owned by others (I doubt the metal ones are, AD used the kickstart money to make those), as you say, they can't do anything with them. Ironclad Games might be able to make a very favorable deal with them to be able to use them.

actually it is one of the metal molders, AD paid to have the molds created but the actual molds are leased, its common practice with mold manufacturers to do.

Speculation is pointless and not productive. We will see what happens when it does happen, so we can keep the speculation out of this thread. Rumors go into a different section of Dakka. Feel free to start a thread there.
