Ive heard a lot of nightmare stories about forge world mishaps but the one my buddy told me takes the cake. So he goes to England to vist his grandmother and while he's there he decided to pick up a forge world knight titan I forget the exact name, any ways he comes back to the US and it turns out they forgot to pack the arm, so he calls and asks them to send him the arm to his home in the us, they ship it to his Grandmother, ok no big deal he asks them to resend it this time it got sent to Africa for seemingly no reason reason, finally on the 3rd try it gets to him home. He received an entirely new model and a gamesday exclusive model, but it was months before he got his model. My question is, is this an isolated incident or all to common

It's an isolated incident.

I'll put a positive spin on it. Forge World screwed up, so the sent another bit. Forge World screwed up again in a remarkably weird way and I'd love to see what caused something to accidentally ship to Africa. So they send a WHOLE model and an EXTRA model while your friend has his original model and his grandma can send the arm. So your friend has two Knights and a gamesday exclusive and the ability to sell one on eBay for full price.

Really, who cares if it's common to have to wait. Guy has the option and ability to make his Knight free and another model extra to boot. I'd be happy for a screwup like that.

But, I will say that an exceptionally long wait is common enough. Don't plan it arriving on time for any tournaments, just to save yourself the frustration. Only have two people I actually know that bout things from UK GW branches. A Sonic Dreadnaught and a set of Tactical cards of all things from GW main, took two months in both cases.

Man, I wish they would screw up for me like that. Free models of that caliber are worth whatever the headache was. It's not like someone would refuse to play you if you had it built and missing an arm once you explained the situation. I would've just built and painted everything minus the missing arm and told my opponent what the weapon was.

How is getting 2 for the price of 1 a horror story?

Here's a real horror story. There is barely any difference between FW and GW pricing here in NZ.

The only negative experience I've had related to FW was my own fault, because I messed up the delivery (went to the wrong place all along).

Otherwise my experiences have been exclusively positive. FW is expensive, but you get what you pay for.

... that's not a Horror story.

To Forgeworld's credit their customer service is fantastic.

The worst i've had is some Black Templar icons. They came on a resin backing that was twice as thick as the icons themselves, making them impossible to remove without causing damage.

Contacted them. They apologised. Said the product was faulty. They ordered me some more, sent to their office first to check the quality and then forwarded to me.

I've been very happy with Forgeworld tbh.

Forgeworld replaced a part that I admitted in the letter I had accidentally broken. I was taking my Horus model out to prime him and he fell out of the box I was holding him in when I tripped. Mace broke off and fell through a crack in the wooden planks on the porch, into a hellscape of leaves and snails.

Got the replacement arm for free in about two weeks after confirming my shipping order to them.

THAT is customer service. I have nothing but respect for the FW team. International shipping can be a giant pain in the ass. The fact they went as far as they did to get it right for your friend is positive, not negative.

Horrer story. You got 3 models for the price of one.

That's no horrer story.

Forgeworld have a great customer service reputation

the only forgeworld horror story I have is the time there was the tiniest fault on a pair of nid twin linked devourer arms and they sent me a new pair.

I easily fixed the old pair and swapped out the new TLD for some rippers on Dakka. The dakka member sent them loose in an envelope, and a couple broke.

So of course it's forgeworld's fault that some dakkadakka members are flakes. Damn them I say.

To be fair, having to wait months to get a model you bought and are eager to start working on is pretty frustrating even if you end up with a free bonus (which you may want, or may just put on ebay). It's just not a typical experience. Most of the time you get what you order within a reasonable amount of time for the shipping distance, and mistakes on FW's end don't seem to be any more common than other businesses.

Eye of Terror

Here's a Forgeworld horror story.

I got a Spartan and the model's treads were miscast. It was also missing the lascannons. I called up Forgeworld and asked for replacement parts.

What arrived instead was a bunch of Khorne Terminator conversion sets, like 4 packs, along with some Mark III and IV marines and World Eater doors for Rhinos. There was a lot of stuff in that box.

I called them back up to tell them they sent the wrong stuff. They were incredibly polite about it, told me to me keep it all, then still sent the replacement parts for the Spartan.

Forgeworld mistakes are awesome. It make take a few months to sort things out, but they make things right.

FW and GW are renowned for their fantastic customer service, I've had no problems with either, but the only freebies o got were from GW after the release of the last SM codex. I ordered the Ultramarines edition, there was a problem with my email in store, and they accidentally ordered me a 2nd founding edition too, which was out of stock. To compensate me for this, I got £70 in gift vouchers AND a signed regular copy. And my Ultramarines edition.

I've only ever had one problem; one of my Death Korps vox caster models was partially melted; I sent them a photo and they express-posted another one to me.

One of my mates ordered a bunch of Hornets for this Eldar some time ago, and when they arrived they were missing 2 canopies (he ordered 6 if I recall correctly,) so they sent him another pair of canopies, and another pair of whole Hornets.

We all sighed, "oh great, more of the damned things," needless to say, he was pleased.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I imagine the Africans found the arms shipment arriving from the UK containing an arm with the Vulcan Megabolter not as practical of use as they had hoped.

The only horror story I have, is that I sent them like 3 mails. Practically begging for them to give me a reason to buy a kharybdis. They only answered on a 4th unrelated mail.

But by that time I had already made my order and it was too late (they also still didn't give me a reason).

So yea, great customer service, but their email correspondence is pretty lacking.

My only story involves a Relic Contemptor and some Heresy Terminators.

The Resin started corroding and decureing, making the models useless, as no matter how much a scrubbed the paint would never stick.

After a couple of months of emailing them I got back "Don't heat the models" which is rather stupid since their advice when they send out miscast models is "Heat the models and bend them back".

I've chucked them in a bits box.
Can't bring myself to ebay them either as its just passing the problem onto some other poor person.

Horror story is not the right word and in the end turned out even better, but it took forge world months to get it right and for the price they charge you'd expect better. but I was curious if others have had weird forge world trouble, by no means does forge world have bad customer service (for yhe most part) their shipping department on the other hand could use some work.

Not even that horrible

Besides things like that you should be spending your time painting (usually in pieces anyway)

now unless somewhere within that month there was a event that he had his sights on then it might even be considered incredibly inconvenient.

But i dont think there will be many at all stories of people dealing with multiple screwups of the same item.

I've done three orders totalling nearly $700.00 USD in the past three months. Every order arrived within 14 days (rather incredible), and without any significant issues.

It sounds like an isolated incident.

Occasional shipping mistakes happen with any business. Don't draw too many conclusions from one isolated incident, especially when the company more than made up for the mistake.

I've had a few casting problems or failed deliverys. Each time they re shipped and in a few cases sent whole models. I ordered a Phoenix flier. After the quoted delevery time it had not arrived. I called and asked, they express shipped a replacement. It got to me 2 days later. Then a week later I got the original (had been delayed at a local post office) i called them to notify - they told me to keep both AND. Cut me a credit to cover the shipping and duty for my next order. My friend had a miscast bit on his reaver. After a delay on arrival he ended up with a whole new reaver Titan sans weapons. I have nothing but the highest regard for forge world service. Yes they make mistakes. But they are polite and do everything possible to make it right. May take a while - but I've never had a problem. Mistakes happen, what matters is how they are corrected. And forge world in my expirence is aces in that regard.

True story here. Probably the craziest mis-shipment ever.

I bought fake DKOK models for super cheap. They were of terrible casting and material quality so I threw them away.

I was kind of relieved because I thought it meant that you get what you pay for. I always had good experience with GW finecast.

So I ordered a few genuine DKOK. It took a while to get delivered but the package was huge. I thought wtf, why is this package so huge? Turns out they accidentally included a COMPLETE KNIGHT in my order.

The DKOK were worse failcasts than the Chinese knock-offs, I won't use them and I won't order FW stuff again ever. But the Knight was... pretty nice.

Weren't they having a promotion on their website for this? That you could win a knight with your order?

On the other hand, I bought the Infernal guard garrison (not 40k but relevant to forge world) and a couple of them had warped sockets. I emailed them pictures and after a phone call they sent me replacement figures for no extra cost. So I find that while FW and GW are expensive they have the best customer service I have ever seen.

They told me i was crazy, that i could not win with an army list like that. 2000 points later i found out that they were right

If they were miscast, let them know and you'll get a replacement. As has been shown many times throughout.

If your order was relatively recent, it might still apply.

Yeah maybe I was a lucky winner but I don't think so, there was no notice.

It's great to read here about their good customer service, seems they are treating their customers well. On the other hand a more dilligent quality assurance could also reduce the amount of failcasts being sold. I'll ping them again.

This isn't a horror story, this is a perfect story, this was a win on the side of Forge World customer service.

Every company will have a screw up at some time. EVERY COMPANY. There is no business out there that executes every transaction flawlessly. It just doesnt happen. What separates companies apart is how they handle those screw-ups. It sounded like Forge World was up front with everything. When it went to Africa, you were able to see that. You were able to keep track of where everything was and why. Communication was open. Then they tried to compensate your lost time by adding additional products at their own expense.

This is the definition of a good company, and a great response from a business.

Horror story? More like awesome alternate ending with super cool freebies!

Seriously, horror stories IMO would have to include not getting anything, ending up the bare minimum ordered plus LOTS of time wasted, and/or lots of miscast or really poorly casted stuff.

In my past FW experiences, almost any elongated or barrel-like piece was warped to hell, and majority of the stuff was just covered in residue/flash.

Since it all was no big deal, and the fact that their Imperial guard vehicle stuff is just so freaking awesome, definitely far from a horror story.

No regrets, one of the most satisfying episodes of wallet eating to date.
