My guess is that since Bones are eventually sold individually retail, roleplayers will be able to hit the FLGS racks and pick and choose which miniature they want for their PC. Roleplayers are picky about their miniatures, but they're cheap and won't paint them, so detail's not *that* important.

I think the KS is good for bulk purchases by DM's. And I finally get a Foo Dog for Tegal Manor!

I backed bones 2. It arrived, I enjoyed looking through them all...and they've been in a draw ever since. Which is a shame as they are great value, but I can't see them coming back out.

Don't quote me, but I am pretty sure I read on Reaper's message board that those new ogres were probably going to show up in this campaign as it is.

That Fomorian certainly is ugly though.

There's a few figures I like in there. Already have a few in metal though, like that robed and helmeted bad guy with the evil face shield. He's a nice model.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The Fomorian is certainly freakish, and large, enough to merit being used as a Chaos Spawn.

Bones 3 launches tomorrow!
Posted by Reaper Miniatures
We're going to be launching our Bones 3 Kickstarter Project tomorrow morning, Tuesday, July 7, at 10 AM Central Time, (-5 GDT).

You can watch our Countdown Timer on our website at www.reapermini.com and when the timer reaches zero, follow that link to our project to back it early! Bones 3 is only running for 18 days, ending on July 25th at 5PM Central Time, So be sure you don't miss it! For all of you Bones veterans, you'll recognize a lot of the structure. There's a Core Set which will grow and expand as we reach new goals. There's Optional Rewards that you can increase you pledge for, there's pledge manager to help track and calculate your selections, and there's plenty of heroes, monsters, gigantic threats, terrain, and amazing surprises to fill 18 days of miniatures madness!"

Notice that last sentence mentions terrain specifically. Get hyped!

True. And with no early birds it doesn't matter when I pledge!

But they said to back it early! Looks like I fail yet another kickstarter.

Back early to catch an earlier shipping wave. However, which wave you pledged didn't really matter for Bones II, since they put in "padding" between wave shipping dates. So, with the dock strike, the first waves were delayed and used up the "padding", and the later ones shipped "on time"or earlier.

fwiw, For the Bones II KS, Reaper increased the prices by 20% (?) for late backers, so pledge during the campaign. Not sure about what policy they used for $1 pledgers.

It should just be for wave shipping again. Earlier you pledge, the earlier they'll pack and send out your pledge.

I will be watching this closely, not really interested in the small stuff but big griblys and terrain could (will) get me to back.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Strangely, this one is going to compete with Mierce's Metal KS for me, despite being at pretty much exactly opposite ends of the quality/price scale. Still, with 18 days I think I can hide the 100$ expenditure well enough to justify it!

It was really rather insane, and it forced all sorts of strange questions when selecting add-ons:

"Okay, so adding on a $50 expansion raises the shipping cost by another $26. Of course, the £8 VAT handling fee remains constant for the entire shipment, but I'll be paying another 20% VAT on top of that $76 which makes it....$92. Wait, if I add the Dragons Don't Share as well, that puts me over the threshold for a separate import duty at 5%, so as well as the expansion costing me $97 now, it's raised the cost of my base pledge by a further $5."

...and so on. Frankly, in the age of every single other Kickstarter I back being EU-friendly, I just can't be bothered at this point. I've never understood why Reaper doesn't want to sell its products abroad, but they've made it quite clear.

Either they don't even care to ask, or nobody in the industry is willing to help them with international distribution. Bot are equally telling.

EU-friendliness (or lack thereof) will be a big factor for me too. I may be tempted by big monsters or terrain though...

Reaper is already being punished by their US distributors for daring to run direct to customer kickstarters, it's possible they're not able to find a willing international partner.

Reaper have never really felt the need to cater for anyone outside of North America...

Maybe if you look at it from the perspective of just trying to get the funding for the bones for these models and making a good show of it. They are not trying to be the biggest kickstarter out there, but think of it as good PR when they make the big dollars on the kickstarter as being something to brag about to their board (if they have one I'm not sure). They could just say US only on the kickstarter, but think of the negative publicity that would create. Plus if they made it so cheap for outside the U.S. , then it would blow up even further creating more of a headache I. Logistics for them to fulfill. In the end I think that they are limiting the sales externally (outside the U.S. market) by not making it easier for the kickstarter backers financially through the shipping costs so that later they can still capitalize on regular sales in those markets.
