I'm thinking about throwing in on this -- I mean, it's a huge supply of stuff for me to paint/dick with that has no impact on any real gaming. Hell, my daughter would probably really dig painting some of these too.
Some of those larger models for 10$ are pretty damn sweet
Edit: Ok, I'm in for 200$. feth it, if nothing else it gives my daughter lots to mess with so she'll quit asking for my skaven

In for a buck, stonehenge, 6-9 ogres, the frost giants and a couple dragons. If they let me buy the 24 bonus figures I might add those too.
The core set is pretty unimpressive. I already have a crapton of middling quality PC types from the first Bones, I dont need 40 more in a hodgepodge. If I want some random dude with a sword or a mage, I could get the one I want right now for like $2.50, as opposed to over a year later. I suspect those who backed bones 1 and 2 are feeling the same. All in all, it's a decent value if you dont already have a glut of figures and don't mind waiting a year for essentially what you can already get right now.
Yeah, I think in the pledge manager I may just ignore the core, get the swarms, and use the rest on different addons. I'm getting the feeling this will be an addon heavy campaign- I'm sure there are more big critters and terrain yet to be revealed, and I highly doubt they'll be added to the core.

Reaper released the core sub-sets, so ROW's can pick-and-choose miniature sets, and backers can get duplicates. You can't get the 24 bonus figures separately (some of the bonus figures are from existing Bones).
Prices are, of course, higher than per figure with the core pledge (you can't just ship without handling), and they lumped the Base set figures together. No sign of a multiple donkey set, aka. Assageddon.

I like how they divided the subsets into groups just the right size to each contain enough miniatures that no one wants in order to make the deals worse than waiting for retail. Thank you for making that decision for me, Reaper.
Is not Reaper going to do a PPM Kickstarter later this fall? Could have sworn I heard that.
I can't be the only person who collects PPM, no painting is awesome. Between my old WotC D&D and Dreamblade minis and new Widkids Pathfinder and D&D lines, the larger scale, having to paint; its hard to spend any money here. Almost nothing I don't already have something i like better.
Would anybody rebuy pre-painted versions of the same stuff?
Yes there is a such thing a dragon burnout. Ask the people with almost every dragon WotC, Paizo/Wizkids, WotC/Wizkids, McFarlane has done how many more dragons they want.

"The cost breakdowns on converting Bones to LE are interesting. LE figures cost more per unit (significantly more, not just pennies but 500-1000%) but we don't have to buy a new mold. We do have to buy masks for painting, so what's crazy it that setup for a new color-run of LE is within a hundred bucks or so of setup for a brand new mold for Bones. You got 4-6 figures per mold, so that's 4-6 new SETS of masks, and then by the time you've ordered the minimum quantities of all 6 models at 5x-10x the Bones cost for the same minimum run, yeah, the prices are nearly the same. And then LE retail for ~3x more, so there's slightly more profit per mini (10% of $4 is more than 10% of $2) but we sell slightly fewer. It's a crazy thing to analyze, and I'll admit that I;ve spent significant time analyzing these number sin committee, I'm spending less and less energy looking at LE as we ramp up for a Bones 3 launch in 4 weeks." -- ReaperBryan
You've heard how you can convert Bones. So here're some weapons. Or just stick 'em on your weapons rack for HeroQuest! Only 25K away!

Besides the base set all of them share a common theme. Are you just wanting something like one or two specific yetis?

I personally would not buy prepainted versions of miniatures I already had. Debatable if I would buy prepainted anything at all miniature related.

From Victoria Lamb's own news thread and Facebook page:
Here you go, this should start to answer some questions. More images on the way This should be added to the Kickstarter sometime in the second half of the campaign.
I think this should be an awesome incentive for those still on the fence.

"Hi Folks, I’m very excited to announce Jake and I have been invited to create a special project which will be a part of the current Reaper Bones III Kickstarter. This will be a special 'guest spot' for a Victoria Miniatures piece, and will appear approximately half way through the campaign. This piece is being specifically designed with Bones in mind, it will be cast in grey PVC, not the usual Bones white.
I assure you I have no intention (or the cash) at this point, to retool the entire range in PVC. This project is currently a one off, that will give me the experience of working on project for metal tooling, and will expose Vic Minis to a whole new audience. It will be a good learning exercise, and I look forward to hearing customer feedback. It gives Jake and I the chance to make a big plastic kit without the usual risk and expense. Best of all Bones will enable us to offer if for an insanely cheap price if purchased as part of the KS. It will also be available after the KS from Vic Minis, and we have lots of resin add ons already in the works.
It’s still a work in progress so I'll be posting some more pics in the next few days.
Cheers, V "

Sweet, I just moved up to Wave 2. It seems like a morning of shifting pledges.

Orkeosaurus, on homophobia, the nature of homosexuality, and the greatness of George Takei.
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
While it'd be nice to have a breakdown of the 'core set' and the option to buy extras of the extras (the ratmen and spiders or whatever), I can respect them not wanting to go 100% 'a la carte' and having demarcation points somewhere.
Also, most of the non-core breakdowns seem to be 3-6 figures for $5-8, which seems quite reasonable for those in need of a few more of X and Y.
Hopefully we'll get a breakdown with more gradiation present before the end, but at least now we have a baseline to work from.
And I entirely agree, this is the core set and extra options approaching 1 million dollars. I'm sure that 2 weeks from now when we're at 2 million or more (I hope we surpass Bones II, but I'm not expecting it) it'll be another story entirely.
breaking it up like that really allows me to decide if I want to drop a hundo on the base pledge, or spend roughly that on the parts I'd actually use.
Right now, I"m at 36 bucks to get a set of Ogres, three sets of goblins, and two sets of Orcs. Adding in the lizard men will eventually run about $40, unless they add a group by there.
I'll be watching the core pledge to see if the gap between what I'd spend on what I know I'll use, and just going whole hog, actually makes sense.

AFAIK, the lizardmen bonus won't be available as a separate purchase. They will likely release additional lizards though further in.

That's my thought, especially since two are already in bones. So I'm figuring retail on those. OTOH, the lizardmen aren't as key for me as, say, orcs and goblins.
Like a lot of Dakkanauts, I'm into these kickstarters for the stuff doesn't make sense in metal: big monstors, terrain, and hordes. I'm using these kickstarters as a way to build up a collection of minis to have on hand for RPGs or skirmish games, and there's a limit to how many wizards I need! Clearly somebody is buying PC models in Bones, but it's not me. That said, I've found that with a unified paint scheme, you can build interesting NPC groups out of the bones stuff.
As was pointed out on the KS comments, they didn't break down the initial 30 figure 'core' in Bones 2, and apparently the 'bonus figures' are existing Bones (I haven't checked if this is true with B3), so we can already buy more if we so desire, but due to KS's issues with selling things that already exist (but apparently not giving them away?) the bonus stuff may not get separated out.
Which is fine by me, no harm in asking, but now it seems to be a simple matter of determining whether my buddy and I want to get a single tier and split it, or two tiers, or what. Hopefully he and I want different things (or minimal overlap in the Core at least). I can't see much value in buying multiple Core 30 packs; once you're in for $60 for 30 figures, adding another $40 to get an extra 70'ish+ more seems like a hell of a deal, which is probably intentional.
Probably wait until the last 2-3 days and try to sort out what he absolutely wants to have, what I want to have, and price out where that falls between 1 tier + add ons, or just 2 tiers (and still save on shipping). I'll definitely be sorting out some 'must haves' for Shadows of Brimstone games (variety in figures and alternate paint schemes), but until we settle close to the end, it'll be a moving target to finalize.

The lycantrhopes and ogres are the best thing about this ATM There are lots of other things I like about it but man, they just fit the bill on so many things I needed.
I love Bebop and the werewolf, but the gorilla thing isn't doing it for me. For me, every subset of the base pledge has one or two minis that look really good, then the rest are either decent with a poor pose or gummy details, or outright bad; the net result is that the subsets cost more than I would spend at retail since I'd only want one ogre or one yeti from those groups.
Half of the dragons in this campaign are also pretty lackluster, compared to just one goofy dragon and some boring ones in Bones 2.

The orcs, goblins, ogres and yetis are all tightly focused enough to be good picks if you want more, the others I agree with you on. However they arent going to offer each individual figure as an add on, nor should they. It would be a logistical nightmare in fulfillment.

Yeah, they are great for war gamers. Especially war gamers who don't have a thousand Bones minis from two previous campaigns already. At this point, I'm going to be a little more choosy.

I'm largely in the same boat. I'm in for add ons only. Though I think the ogres are a really good deal at $6 for 3. They're generic poses/gear so I'll probably get at least 2 of that set. In D&D you tend to fight a decent number of them given they arent high level critters.
I already have a bunch of generic Bones orcs and ogres...
I'll probably buy the mole rat ogre in the Marvel Comics pose just because he looks like a boss, but the others I can pass up. I won't need orcs or goblins for years. I could probably use the ones I have as treats for training my dog to do a new trick and still have more than enough.
The crusaders and Terran Marines are both sets I would buy through the campaign, but I suspect shipping will eliminate any savings I would get for buying them a year in advance.
