Last year, there was a rumour going on about how GW was gonna release a new and improved Chaos Havoc/Chosen box set. It sounded too good to be true. WOW! I can finally customize my damn havocs!
But no, apparently, the rumour was just that....a rumour. Haven't seen anything about this new havoc set and I'm significantly pissed of with the fact I have to buy 4 expensive non-customizable box sets of Chaos Havocs in order to have a full squad of las cannons, auto cannons and so on. If they could include at least two of each weapon, I could be good. It really just seems these havocs aren't being paid attention to...and they are in desperate need of an upgraded box set. Let's hope GW releases a new box set in the near future because right now, I refuse to buy havocs until they do.

I found it easy enough to have Chaos Havocs in my army, just converted various kits from Space Marine Devastators, Chaos Terminators and Chaos Space Marine Tactical and low and behold I have 5 squads of Havocs.
I got the Autocannons from the Chaos Space Marines Terminators as well as the Heavy Flamers
I also got the Multi-Melts, Plasma Cannons and Lascannons from the Devastator kit, while everything else came from the Chaos Space Marine kit.
I will say this is a display army and not exactly game legal, I built the units because they'd look cool and they do.
But yes I agree with you that Chaos needs a separate Havoc kit of its own. It is long overdue.

Haha, I'm a fluffy guy myself, I am actually gonna get a full squad of plasma cannons despite the fact that such a weapon can't be given to havocs in the current Chaos codex.

I have done them as Chaos Tactical Support Squads, they come as follows.
1, Icon Bearer (undivided), Plasma Gun, Plasma Pistol and Close Combat Weapon (the icon)
2, Champion, Plasma Pistol and Powerfist
3, CTS; Plasma Cannon, Plasma Pistol and CCW
4-10 CTS: Plasma Gun, Plasma Pistol and CCW

I second this. No faction is as spoiled rotten as the Space Marines but Chaos Marines are definitely a ways down the ladder of respect and support imo.

I haven't been playing long and I love my chaos marines but the army has a lot of negative connotations in the community and it makes me feel like I'm going to be forced to buy into a whole new army to not be looked down upon or tabled every game.

Well, Chaos Marines are a good army to play in 40k tabletop but they aren't nearly as good as the Space Marines and Eldar. Space Marines have Tigurius, arguably one of the most overpowering characters in the game and than the Eldar, who are outright devastating to fight in every facet.
But you shouldn't worry about "negative connotations", as long as you're haopy with your army you shouldn't feel forced to get a new one. I'm just aggravated by GW inability to produce updated box sets for Chaos Marines.

But, an autocannon is an autocannon, and you can buy the weapons individually, so what's the problem? You're not buying "30k marinefest moneygrab", you're buying extra bitz to customise your squads.

I came second in my gaming clubs last 40K tournament with a fluffy CSM list; granted we are a fairly informal fluffy club, but there are a few people who run some pretty hard lists in there. Just play the mission rather than trying to wipe out the other guy and you will be dine.

so you play chaos marines, you dont support the chapters that they came from? you want to call 30k a moneygrab? is not everything GW sells a moneygrab? 40k marines are so lacking its not even funny. get some other models and do some customising. dont bemoan that a kit is missing as tedious as it is. what legion do you play or do you jsut play 40kcahsomarines and a total hodgepodge?

I'll throw in another vote for Devestators...of course, this has a downside as well, because Plasma Cannons and MultiMelta aren't playable by Havoc squads. So IIRC, all you get heavy-weapons-wise here that you can actually use is 2 Lascannons, 2 Heavy Bolters, and a Missile Launcher.
Hopefully one day they will just do a proper plastic Havoc box...and while they're at it, they should redo the Chaos Space Marine box. Besides all the skulls and spookies, which some people may like, there are no Combi-Weapons for the aspiring champ, and the only heavy weapon is a Heavy Bolter, and that's probably amongst the last things I would want to equip my unit with from the available options.

The other weapons are great for Obliterator conversions at least.

There are plenty of kits that needs to be re-worked or actually published. Thees are:
- Khrone Berzerkers - they need overhaul. They still have "shovel sized hands" and not too much of details.
- rubric marines - They need boxed set
- noise marines - They also need boxed set
- Chosen - they are available only in the dark vengeance
- cultists needs better pack/ maybe conversion sprue for cadians.
- Havocs needs an update
- Default csm could use a re-vamp as well.
It's silly how they improved raptors and no other set. Especially there was Khorne book recently.
On other things I am using imperial guards autocannon on my havocs.

Surely from a fluff standpoint it would be better to take 30k or 40k Imperial weapons and 'chaotify' them all individually with plasticard spikes and greenstuffed skinned faces so that each weapon is unique? I can't see a plastic GW havok kit having more than two different sculpts of any weapon, which would leave havok squads looking rather samey rather than chaotic.

Just cut the spruce and sharp it up into the spikes. No need for spending money for any additional fancy materials.

I get that you want 40k CSM to be given attention, but....this is GW we're talking about. How long have we been asking for legion rules again?

You misunderstand. He means buy the 30k HH army heavy weapon kits. They fit the Chaos space marines just fine.
For example:
Legion Autocannon set: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Legiones_Astartes/Space_Marine_Legion_Army_List/LEGION_HEAVY_SUPPORT/Legion_Heavy_Support_Squad/LEGION_AUTOCANNON_SET.html
This is a set of 5 auto cannons that fit on space marines, be they Chaos Space Marines, Regular Space Marines, or 30k HH space marines. The Autocannons and heavy bolters fit bolter holding arms. For the Missile Launcher, Plasma Cannons, and Las cannons, you'll need different arms.
