Just curious how folks get their Mantic gaming products.

Pretty much KS only. I got an extra expansion for Mars Attacks from a eBay discounter to have enough models for a certain scenario, but I think that's the only exception.

The Kickstarters mainly, Mantic sales ie crazy box and the world cup sale, and one 'local' retailer who is an online retailer for me by virtue of being in a different state

Pretty much all Kickstarter for me. If we really get into Kings of War this summer when 2.0 shows up I may do some direct ordering.

Either from online Discounters (Wayland), or in Mantic's pre-release/army deals.

Up to now, I've picked up a couple of things from FLGS, and then purchased an army set from Mantic direct.

My next big Mantic purchase though is from Kickstarter.

When Mantic first came onto the scene, I bought some army boxes directly through them. When it became clear they weren't in danger of disappearing, I moved on to discounted retail. After KoW1, I'll only buy through their kickstarter pledge managers or from deep discounts or clearance sales. Mantic's prices have risen faster than their quality. I couldn't pay full price (or even 10-20%off) now without feeling like I was rewarding awful behavior.

To my knowledge, I am the only one out of all my gaming buddies (from 5 states (MD, VA, PA, AZ, KY) who bought the majority of their Mantic direct from an FLGS.

All my friends jumped on Kickstarters and/or buy from 20-30% off discount sellers online.

Kickstarters and some crazy deals I've been able to finangle. Helps having a good source. And no, that source isn't actually at Mantic: somebody suggested that in another thread, but it's not the case.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I don't really see much Mantic in the FLGS's I visit. The one in Dublin had a fair bit of Mantic stuff, but I wonder how it was selling. They do so many deals on their site and through KS I wonder how retailers feel about them.

I'm curious about that too, Da Boss.
Your and BobtheInquisitor experiences are similar to what I've seen.

I pick up the odd bit from Gamersworld in Dublin but most of my stuff has come from KS. I was in Gamersworld one day awhile ago and they told me I could have 50% off anything Mantic so I did stock up on some stuff, mostly faction boosters and some terrain. When I asked why they said it just wasn't selling and they had over ordered expecting it to be more popular they needed to downsize the range. I mentioned I'd already got most of what I needed through KS and they said that was basically what they were hearing from a lot of people so the demand just wasn't there.

Are they running any Mantic events? Holding an intro game and/or painting night? Showing models to WHFB players who are chagrined at the prices that have gotten too high for them?
There are many ways to do it. I talked a dwarf and undead player to both pick up Mantic models prekickstarter. It wasn't even a hard sell. But they don't seem to sell themselves yet, because the people who know them also know kickstarter.

A mixture of Kickstarter, Mantic's own webstore (very good for Australia) or the Might Ape online store.

Mostly through KS, but I periodically pick up some stuff through an online store in Osaka, just to keep the Mantic fanbase in Japan alive.

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Pretty much just through KS, though I've bought a few things from local (interstate) retail as well and even directly from their webstore, neither are my preferred option at this point.

By my possibly screwed up math, it looks like around 1/5 of respondent acquisitions come from local game stores.

That just about fits my observations from Northern VA, Maryland, Southern PA, DC and now Phoenix, AZ metro areas.

Wonder how that compares to GW/PP and other big name stuff.

If that's an accurate representation that's awesome. I know I'd buy from my local if they stocked Mantic. From the comments on the recent Open Day seminar video Ronnie states their plan to support local retailers as much as possible also.

I'll assume you aren't saying it's awesome from a LGS owner perspective.

Ah, I saw that as 5/1.... maths never was my strong point. I thought that sounded high.

I've just realised that I have bought all my Mantic stuff from them direct, which is unusual for such a frugal old Northerner!

I got Mhorgoth rising for £29.99. Absolute steal, imfo!

Deadzone was at a good discount.

Dreadball was the KO mini starter with the 'extra time' bundle thrown in for free.

I'll probably get the new KoW starter direct too.
