I've found the best thing to do is have two argants leveled for carrying capacity to do mining trips. They can fill one forge per trip and you can get away with only one to two stacks of meat for yourself. Curry and Chili help too.

My brother decided to tame a pair of Rex' and treks with those up and down my cold and lonely prison.

I just thought that the spot is a bit too easily defended, i play on a pve server so the only thing i have to worry about is something aggroing the bridge and taking it out.

With the addition of the alpha dinos, it is pretty nice being able to have spinos or Trex go right by without having to care.

The first thing I plan on doing once I get this game is get a decent army of the spitting dinos (dilos-?). Even if they aren't effective it would be cool to have my own retinue of archers.

The Dilo's spitting blinds players and dinos but really only has an effect on an unmounted player. It does slow as well so that might be useful with a pack of Dilos and some Raptors for base protection but both are still relatively weak.

They might work in a large pack but I easily kill groups of 6 or 7 with my carno, aoe attacks from Trikes, Stegs or Brontos would make short work of them.

Scorpions are very good if you have another dino to act as a tank, the scorpion's sting does low damage but knocks stuff out really fast.

Yeah, Dilos are almost worthless once you get established with only one exception. Due to how T-rex are built they can't attack anything at their exact feet so Dilos can actually take them on, potentially. But you'll most likely just lose your Dilos.

Got some drama going on between two tribes.

Seems one tribe like my idea on placing 1K stone bounties on the other tribe members.....

That was before I made it to the halfway point to my second "FOB"

Just had a great day. Tamed a Sabre and a Carno perfectly. Both were lvl120(max on this server) with full prime/kibble.

Carnos are such fun to have, just tamed my second which was 112 before the tame. Sadly though, while gathering berries on my one trike a 116 carno attacked and had to be put down.

The funny thing is apparently they can still break chests through walls, but smithys, forges, and players are immune.

I got wrecked big time. A lot of C4 charges were used on both my FoB's

One or two people on my server have managed to tame the Apes, apparently it's a PITA. I was too busy being enthused by the new SCUBA gear... that stuff is the business.

They are horrendously difficult for an animal without a ton of utility.

So, after a few nice updates I've been working on shipbuilding and bronto bases and stuff. Rebuilt the main crafting/cooking/storage structures in my base into a single better designed stone structure with more room to expand.

Then the devs released the new digest, detailing their plans for the new biomes coming out on Friday, with the warning that structures that don't conform to the new areas ( probably all of them in the area) will be destroyed, so you should move out.




The peninsula on the east coast of the island is my tribal base. The whole thing. Been building since like day two. Move by Friday.

Probably not happening.

I saw that update and said to myself, yep i want to play that. I plan to set up a base in the new snow zone and get that cool deer mount.

When is the biome update anyway?

It's slated for Friday-today-, so I would guess anytime between now and Wednesday.

The platform saddle was weeks late. A new map is rather big, so there might be a ton to work out.

Holy crap resource gathering in the giant eastern swamp is nuts. Just walking through it on my bronto I got 7500 thatch, 370 rare flowers, 60 odd rare mushrooms, a 1000 or so wood, and 70 of the species x seeds.

Frogs are OP. You get 8-12 Cement Paste from a single bug. And you still gather the Chiten on top of it.

Frogs are extra OP when riding a dino, a they hit the rider with stun damage trying to knock them off.

This actually caused me to fall through the world and spawn on top of the world, fall right back down and die of fall damage, reminding me this game really is a beta

So, are bases all wiped now?

If they were in the new biomes.

Ok I am ready to admit that my boat base Idea isn't working. I lost my second boat because of some creature that was on it when I re-spawned. I might just have to go back to building a normal base and using the boat for transport.

Okay, no crisis with our bases, we were close to the new stuff, but thankfully dodged a bullet there.

My base was on the west coast on that wide cliff/ledge and is still good to go. Only thing is some pillars came unhooked from the ground.

I love the new update though. Bullfrogs are awesome

Froggies are awesome.

They are also dangerous.

Only tame if you have a bird to drop them in a pen with.
