Any chance that we can lock this thread until there are actual Tau rumors? Not trying to be a jerk but there have been no new rumors and just about every post recently has been debates about forge world or walker rules

Are you 100% sure that it's a new missile variant and not just them being repackaged, period, to the new "black box" style?

Well, you could look on the GW site and see...

The Knight Errant("original" box) is $140.
The Knight Warden(the "new" box) is $157.

$17 difference for a sprue that is pretty much packed.

I do hope that the riptide will have more powerful missiles than just being an up-scaled missile-side... My broadsides are great against flyers, MC's and light/medium armour, but anything heavy just smiles and laughs at them...

Also, quite how a nova-charged reactor behaves with physical ammunition will be interesting.... Nova charged energy weapons I understand, but increased power output with a rocket launcher aint gonna do squat.

You could but that $17 is only applicable if the sprues were the same size and the numbers of sprues are the same. I dont own a knight so cant say. My point in mentioning the knight was to point out that Gw doesn't add the sprue for free generally.

Good news. Also pretty excited for more missiles. I was hoping for an all new kit and model but I suppose an addon will have to do.

I just hope that after years of complaining about flimsy ankles and limited posability, GW has made smart decisions when redesigning them. I'd kill for a slightly sleeker, more modular design for conversions and kitbashes. Also, a set of hands like the enforcer has would be amazing.

I try not to get my hopes up, though. Watch them have just redesigned the sprues to make it so you only get one of each weapon and support system in the box (That way you have to buy more boxes if you want to give them all twin-linked weapons and need 6 boxes for a deathrain team.).

Here's the thing that I'm optimistic but worried about as well, lately they've been adding all options in some of the kits like the new Eldar Jetbikes. I believe they're trying to limit the 3rd party bits market. The concern is if this means less options for the suits in the rules OR specialized kits. The Tau suits are a bit of a problem in that they have so many darn options compared to other kits out there, each model can take a large number of options separate from what the rest of the unit takes. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if GW were to limit this in some way.

yup....the aircraft look new too.

Yeah, those infantry are definitly new, and I'm liking their look. It's about time FWs got a resign, their kit is pretty damn old. The missile-tide is hilarious, it looks like a amputee. The bottom suit is pretty cool though, reminds me of stealth suits with the more rounded design.

Agreed, that bottom one is amazing looking. Riptide.... who needs arms when you can have more guns anyway...

I still was secretly hoping for a close combat version. I know it's not fluffy at all but it would have been so much cooler to see a new suit with a big sword....

The new Fire Warriors (assuming they're not a new infantry unit) look much better than the older ones. And yeah the bottom suit looks stealth suity, the whole bit around the head is almost like a stealth suit torso. I was trying to avoid 40k completely but this does throw a spanner in the works, not gonna lie.

Nah, those are just the current ones viewed from the bottom.

That's not an extra sprue surely that's a whole new model? Very interesting. My tau could do with some more high strength shooting.

Stealthtide? Oooh...

While I don't like the missiles so much the big gun on the top one is purty.

Is it bigger than the riptide? It looks it in the bottom photo but some components look the same (like the hip/groin). It's it just perspective?
