Subject: Tau Rumors: New FireW and 2 Giant Suits? P13 for Pics. P37 for Stormsurge rules. P55 for Transfer Sh
27 seconds to 29 seconds in you see a crisis suit. Several sources are now saying that's a FW employee's conversion for the video.....

"No, the XV8s are not being updated. After the Ghostkeel, we have the Fire Warriors and Breachers, plus the defense line with drone control and gun platform. New ethereal too, but as part of the Pathfinder and piranha bundle box."
From GW?

Am I the only one who loves that the new toys we get are sidegrades as opposed to upgrades? The Ghostkeel is just really cool and I think it might be preferable over HYMP Broadsides for me, but I can completely see a counter argument made for taking the Broadsides over it, which is awesome since it means more choice D:
Wait what? I missed that.
Do you mean as a seppuku sort of thing?
And kamikaze. They're both in the current book(s). There is a story of some famous pirahna pilot instructor that kamikaze's into IIRC an ork gargant when he runs out of ammo or somesuch. Under Farsight's entry either in the codex or supplement, it says he'd likely commit ritual suicide if he ever found out his long lifespan is due to his sword sucking the lifeforce out of everything he kills and giving it to him.
Heh, they really are dropping in the Japan references now.

No, i prefer sidegrades than obvious upgrades.
Unless its changed, the Riptide will still be the most "efficient" of the suits at killing things, but its significantly less versatile than the ghostkeel and therefore is predictable. Ghostkeels can do multiple things and do them well enough to actually be good at it. Even melee, which is the funny part. People are theorizing the Riptide will drop to a 3+ armor though considering the two new MCs are 3+....i doubt it though considering the fluff behind that 2+.
I'd rather the bulk of the codex be about the same strength, even if they fulfill similar roles because it gives diversity options. Thats why i started to hate the old Ork codex because i either ran bikernobz or i just lost by turn 3 every single time. I like mixing things up.
Unless they completely screw over the rest of the dex, i'll be consistantly running just about everything.

IF that is a new suit in those pictures I would like to point out the arms look posable like the riptide and the legs look more possible as well. If it is a conversion I would love for whomever did it to post a tutorial because it looks so much better than the current suits.

The Riptide is really good, but I don't think it really competes with the Ghostkeel, because like you said they do kind of different things. I think the Ghostkeel and the HYMP Broadsides compete though, as they have similar weapon profiles if you give the Ghostkeel an Ion thing, but with the Ghostkeel you lose range (six inches only since you can move and shoot at full BS, unlike the Broadside) and a couple shots, in exchange for more mobility, some versatility in how the weapon fires, and more survivability. As such there will always be times where one is better than the other, and it's more of a judgement call than always taking one over the other.
I also like the way the codex is now, aside from a few small things I'd be fine if they just added these two units and left it the same otherwise. Vespids obviously need to be fixed, and some of the unit clumping needs to change, along with maybe Piranha being able to replace their Burst Cannon for a Markerlight D:. In other words, they just need to buff the weaker units with some more utility, while keeping the strong units about the same, the only things they can really nerf a little is the Riptide and making Markerlights reduce cover by -1 per point instead of two points for complete cover negation.

The legs look like the FW crisis suit legs....Could be combo of GW&FW crisis...
I am not trying to burst any bubbles here, I just can't stomach the thought of the "New" crisis suit looking so much like the old, and am not head over heels like so many others are over a simple twisting waist and possable arms.
I had hoped for new crisis suits to rival the FW ones, ones that are more dynamic and streamlined...IMHO
Pose-able arms and legs and a twisting torso is the main thing we wanted for new crisis suits lol. The problem with the current one is they are so fixed in their pose and look terrible if you try to tweak it.

True. But they could have also resculpted them prettier when (hopefully) making those things happen....

Obviously it's all subjective, but they looked fine, it was just the posability that was the main issue. I'm sure if they have been resculpted they'll be much more detailed and stuff.

So reading the rules, how many times do you think the phrase "I can't tell really how far they are from your guys, so we'll go with the 5" rule" will be thrown in?

Love the models, dissappointed in the rules. I was really hoping for a fast attack choice, with either Deep Strike, Jump or Jetpack rules.
I mean, they are CLEARLY meant as either obective campers or jumping behind AP3 or worse troops and blasting them to death. But with just a Devilfish transport, I don't see it happening.. shame, would have been awesome with Deep Strike. Jumping in together with Suits.
Alpharius? Never heard of him.

Lookin nice. The guns are nice touch, kinda gives them a veteran-esque feel getting close and dirty with their "pulse shotguns". It's also another unit (troops choice no less) that gets the semi-elite T3 unit done better than the Militarum Tempestus, just like Skitarii. Glad I play Orks, but it makes the attempt to try Scions out that much harder with the comparisons.
