That shotgun is so massively worse than a carbine (in its current form).

The get in close nature of that gun does not synergize with the static nature of the turret.

The shotgun does go well with the EMP grenades. Glance AV12 in the shooting phase, charge in the assault. Dead Chimeras.

That guardian drone is pretty much what I've always thought shield drones should do.

The turret is optional. I imagine that if you get the turret, you'll want to set them up in terrain to block the enemy/overwatch, or skip the turret and instead use a transport to get in range.
I also imagine that the turret is available to Strikers.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

You can see what is probably them on the rules picture.
Although I like to think that a tidewall rampart is actually a wall made of riptides.

While I like the concept, I wish there was a better way to do the guns. Unlike rapid fire, where some might be in double tap range, and others just a get a single shot, you can’t just pick up a handful of dice and roll the squad together. Each band is going to have to be measured and counted, then all the hits, wounds, then allocated and saved. While it’s one thing for a single big gun to have to deal with that kind of overhead, on a squad level I see it bogging the game down.

The rules for the gun are extremely unimpressive. If they maybe made it 6,3 up to 10" and than 5,5 up to 15" that would be a bit better. Especially as they are only BS3, so half their shots will miss if there isn't a marker unit within 36"

Those new breachers are meh at best. They're gonna be rather difficult to get into the sweet spot and once there, they're gonna get mauled in CC after they shoot whatever they targeted. Even with the 5++, they're simply not survivable enough to do what they're intended to do. No FW model wants to be within 5" of a MEQ.

At anything more than 5" standard Firewarriors do what breachers do and do it at a longer range, and XV8's do the AP3 better due to better survivability and manueverability.

So far it's looking like the Ghostkeel is the shining star of this release. I just hope we get new XV8's

Sometimes, the only truth people understand, comes from the barrel of a gun.

Tau codex incoming nerf. I can smell it form a mile away. The breachers are limited to 10 men. Will our firewarriors be limited to 10 now too? I sense bad rules on the horizon. I got a feeling our formations are going to suck some major nuts.

That was my thinking exactly. I was specifically interested in the mutually exclusive relationship with the turret and the grenades. Unless you're expecting to get charged by walkers I guess.

I kind of like the new breachers, and are way better for 9 points vs regular Fire Warriors since they can get a 5+ invuln. Hopefully strike (old Fore Warrior stats?) will get the drones, too. However, the gun range is fairly unimpressive. The only thing I can think of that would make the unit better is if the Devilfish got Deep Strike like in the fluff, with similar rules to Drop Pods? That would fix the range issue, allowing you to drop in on top of the enemy and hold until relieved. Tau Air Cav?

Is it two seperate boxes? If so I'll probably just get the Tau one, but if not I'll try use most of the Raven Guard stuff for my 30k, and that captain is pretty damn cool.

No. Our shining release was the Ta'unar. All hail FW. The only one willing to equip us adequately for these overpowered times. The ghostkeel is like I don't know. Some amethyst or something. Cool looking semi-precious side grade.

They're each described as "boxed sets" in and of themselves, with a 32 page "Campaign Booklet".

Also, does anyone else get the impression that they're trying to balance Tau vs assault armies by making new Tau stuff really short range?

Those Breachers look excellent. Nice models. Love the deployable sentry gun. They don't look so bad rules-wise either. Like the 5+ invuln on the Firewarriors and the Str6 close range guns.

you GW and your lazy rule authors. Tau use base-8 numbers, not base-10, so why the hell do they have the same 5-10 man squad sizes as everyone else? They're supposed to be 6-12, with some 8-man squads thrown in for variety.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Those breacher FWs are waaay better than I expected. They look awesome and I will surely get them. Is that turret included with the FW box? I would be surprised!

I think the breachers add some variety, but they are just lacking something. They are going to be up in the face of the enemy but can't do anything extra on the assault.

Down with Allies, Solo 2016!
