The added bits on the calves are what will be the challenge, I am thinking of making press cast of the master with all the little jets and then have a spot for the normal leg to sit in and cast the part around the leg.
It may work.
Or just lump some blobs onto the legs and press some tiny brass tubing into it for the jets and then indent the centers for thrusters.
Sculpting or molding... or both...
I am just glad I have an alternative to the Armoured VT, my "creation" was a whole lot of "derp".

well with mine not sure you can tell but the lower leg was a mold cut with the extra width and that was spliced onto an upper leg from the actual RRT mini

That is the easier way to go and was my original thought, I guess I was not looking forward to splicing them on some 24 times for a squadron.
Oh my, look at us all off topic....

Let me see, ransacking the "latest" update from Kevin (June 17 2016):

@Krisanth/Easy E: I posted about the subject a few weeks ago when I saw him showing off the just painted models to be used with Horizon Wars (and it got me to check out the rules) but I haven't followed up since. Thanks for the link/info.

the Mothership...

Watching the video... there is a mention of transformable mech rules coming/just arrived on their facebook page. I asked that very question here on dakka but had no response from the author (who goes by "precinctomega" here). As I said last month, it has some interesting mechanics (like the dice cancellation) as well as range added to defense as a target number to attack models. It plays a bit slower than I expected initially. Because the model count is low, units soak up alot of damage and tend to get chipped away unless you roll tons of crits (12's on d12) and you'll end up with zombie units that aren't quite dead but are effectively useless (because you assign each point of damage as a neg to one stat of your choice as a defender except on crits) because they can barely move or attack (stat down to 1 to still count or down to 0 to not count for victory conditions). It's the kind of a mecha Black Knight situation. "I'm not quite dead yet!" I suppose that does emulate the old Mechwarrior and Heavy Gear video games of the 80's and 90's.

BEHOLD!

This poor model needed the hips closer together, the wings at the back (none there... really now?) and removed the head... this one will do for now.

Strategy suggestions?

Which side do you think will win?

Falcon Officer with Short Range Missiles 30

Thoughts?

Bioroids will need to get in close quickly and take advantage of their additional command points to do some damage and sleds to add to their survivability. If they cannot hit hard and fast they will be torn up. Maybe use one force as a fast moving target to absorb fire and help the others get close to make some killing blows.
EMF might have an easy go at this if they can keep the initiative. The fact that the Master's have three squadrons might be a hindrance IF they Master's can take advantage of it.
Ultimately I want to see if the Bioroids are too expensive and later test them without the sleds for a better comparison.

I was pretty sure it was when I saw the model.
I was rather surprised to see all the hollow little bits inside, I expanded a few shapes to fill a few things.
I have to read a bit more because making some of these shapes seemed harder than it should be.
Just to make something as common as a sphere is looking irritating in Sketchup.

I used Tinkercad, and yeah lots of holes, at times I wondered if it would have been easier to start from scratch.

For those interested, I found the expanded rules for the previously mentioned Horizon Wars game that includes bio stuff like Tyrannids and Starship troopers, really giant mecha ala Pacific Rim, and transforming mecha like everyone's favorite Robotech. The usual disclaimers apply since I haven't actually tried these rules (or even the core rules) out myself.

Well, at least I can distract myself with my projects while PB does... what? watch geese?

Anyone found good replacement bases for Robotech?
Or do I just use a hole saw on polystyrene sheet and glue a flat tab at an end?

I am pretty sure whatever I will end up with will not be perfect but a reasonable paint job hides all ills.

Mike, just an FYI. Dakka has youtube tags that allow you to directly embed the link just like images and allow it to play from within the post (instead of being redirected).

@Talizvar: I'd say try Litko custom bases. I don't know if they can make a tab but they can probably match the dimensions in plastic or other materials. The cheapest way would be though just drilling a hole in a sheet yourself if you have the tools and access to large cheet sheets. The simplest way would be to find/wait for a deep discount sale on the starter set and just get 30+ bases that way... and then part out the models/books/counters for sale (ok, that last part isn't "simple"...)

Have you thought about press moulding bases instead? With that simple of a shape it shouldn't be difficult. You could even add some scenic bits to the base once and have it repeated ad nauseum for a custom decorative base.

Yeah, I saw Asterios was doing that.
Buying another starter box cheap is a funny option or see if anyone is selling the disks separate.

PB doesn't have a 'bases only' option on their web store, but if one wanted to snag a big pile of them it might be worth asking.

Or just wait for the SDF-1 resin bases! Any day now!

Any.
