I lost my original start box for Kings of War. It was in storage and it's just *poof* gone. Luckily I found my WFB Dark Elves, including an entire battallion box, a box of cold ones and a metal hydra unassembled.

Strips of 5 or blocks of 5x2 might be better. The only formations that are 10 wide are hordes (10x4) and Legions (10x6)
If you do strips 5 wide you can make all the different infantry formations.

5x2 is definitely the way to go. It also makes storage and transport really easy; I've got a bunch of sabol foam trays that I have plucked the foam into the rough shape of slightly larger than 100x40 so I can put multiple units per tray, perfectly protected and nestled into their foam.

Ironically, AoS has prompted me to get back into Fantasy again after not having touched it for decades. Unfortunately for GW, I am looking to scratch that itch with Mantic rules and probably Mantic miniatures too (although I am hedging my bets by making sure I have a complete set of AHFB 6th Rules and Army Books). At the very least, I plan to play 6th using Mantic minis.

So I've gone through some old armies I had way before there was such a thing as Warhammer. I put these things on bases made out of matte board and used horrible paints for painting.
Long story short, I've got ancient Ral PArtha, Citadel, and Grenadier models, enough for a pretty good sized KoW undead army. They're all 25mm, but the entire army will be that way so I think it will be cool.
I'm soaking in Pine-Sol now to remove the old paint and will be working up some diorama based units for an army soon.
then I'll do the same with dwarfs, elves, and two or three human armies.
I don't know if anybody here remembers RAFM Reptiliads, but I have an army of those that will be next...
The GW manager never let me use any of these 25-38 year old figures in any game in their store. Now, they will become KoW armies.
Edited to add that every one of these minis is lead based white metal.

I have not played fantasy in years but AoS had me hoping for great things but is a total let down for me, on the positive side it has rekindled my interest in large battles and this seems to be to go now.
I see unit foot print size is really important with kings of war, but could some of you veterans help me use my FW Chaos Dwarf army?
I have 4 FW bull centaurs (Inc hero) but there bases are huge compared to the half breeds, is there anyway I can still use them?
What can I use my Iron Daemon and skullcracker as?
I have 6 K'daai firebox on 40mm stands, I believe the lesser obsidian Golems are on 50mm bases. Could I still use the K'daai as they are?
My K'daai destroyer is on the large 100 x 150mm base, is he usable for anything?
I have scenic based most on the miniatures mentioned above so I'm not really wanting to rebase where I can help it.
Many thanks in advance.

The thing to bear in mind is that you don't need to rank up the minis on the base. So your 4 Bull Centaurs could easily count as a unit of 10 Cavalry if you put them on an appropriate tray in a lose formation, or your bigger monsters could instead represent a unit (in game terms) of Golems so long as the base is the right size. As ever, just be sure to make it clear to your opponents what's what, and you should have no problem!

I would take a moment to point out that if you want to do this for any official Mantic sponsored tournament, they are completely cool with you doing it!

That last comment kills me.
We don't have a Games Workshop store around here, and I am glad for it. To think a hobby as niche as our own can be abrasive and dictate to me how to play with my toys, which to use, etc... is ridiculous. I DO love 40k, incidentally, but the odds of me ever walking into a games workshop are nil hearing such stories... and not just because I am in a wheelchair and the whole walking thing seems obnoxiously difficult. :-p
Mantic for life, here. Gamers first. Hobby first.

Denilsta, I think your bull centaurs would work great as abyssal grotesques, which are on 50mm bases. So a unit of 6 grotesques would have a footprint of 150mm wide by 100mm deep, which very close to your 3 bull centaurs which would be 150mm wide by 75mm deep. It'd be good to add something to the back to make up that last 25mm to have them on the appropriate base size, but just putting them on a movement tray that has a gap at the back would do the trick!
