AL has "The Rewards of Treason" Rite of War when they can take a single Legion-specific unit allowed only to other Legions for the same price with the special equipment and rules but not the parent Legion Astartes rules which are substituted with Alpha Legion's own. Also AL can't take special characters and unique units.

I am selling an original "Iron Warriors" painting by Karl Kopinski: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/121232313078?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

So is that a 'no' then?

Or a 'yes'?

Because I'm OK with buying Perturabo too, but I'm also OK with not buying him!

The joys of a beautiful model saddled with a point cost that will ensure it almost never sees play.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

The Iron Circle is not listed in the Extermination but I am 99% sure it's a unique IW unit, so big, fat no.

When the rules were previewed at the event a few months ago I don't remember seeing Unique anywhere on their profile.

Is anyone with the Age of Darkness Legions book able to check to see if they are Unique?

They're not Unique. However, their Moving Bulwark rule only allows Iron Warriors characters to join the unit.

Well the best thing about them is that you dont need a Cortex Controller near them so ill just infiltrate them and go attack a primarch with them or something

also, Whats the Max squad size?

Perfect. I'll just switch their hammers for swords and add them to the DA sword and board army I am trying to conjure up.

Im sure they would look cool but...

Castellax with power blades is a no (as they have 2 power blades)
and Iron Circle is a no as you play DA
The only thing i can think of is a shattered legions army

One of the legion consuls has a rule allowing it to join units of MCs, but it would not benefit from the Moving Bulwark rule, as that explicitly states Iron Warriors characters.

So basically they are unique to IW even though it doesn't explicitly says so?

Well you can still take them in AL you just can't join anyone to them, right?

OK, to prevent the confusion.

They are not "Unique" as in only one of them in the world, which is what would prevent Alpha Legion taking them (see named dreadnoughts and characters)

They are an Iron Warrior Special unit.

So Alpha Legion with their rite of war can take them by stealing them

Dark Angels cannot.

Wait, I thought you 30K guys didn't believe in allies or other 40K-esque shenanigans? Now all I see are a bunch of people trying to figure out how to get an IW unit into their non-IW army? For shame. Before you know it, you'll be talking formations, free wargear, and xenos filth

The primarchs are all pretty large compared to regular space marines, and Perturabo especially since he's standing on that gigantic base of a wrecked Knight.

Of my three (works in progress) 30k legions, I only have an interest in taking the Iron Circle in Alpha Legion, and for the same reason why I want to take any other Legion's special units. Because trolling with a huge grin on my face.

You can definitely detect a very elitist attitude among some 30k players. "Our hobby is being invaded by 40k players who all just want to win, only joined because of how cheap Betrayal at Calth is, and who don't take the same pride in the modelling side of the experience" is a sentiment that I have seen unironically expressed before now. It is very, shall we say, unappealling to see, and manages to combine multiple kinds of sneering into one sentence, much like how I imagine George Osbourne gets after three pints. It also sits very poorly with my experience in local 40k tournaments, where some truly beautiful armies are being piloted by people with razor-sharp lists. Happily not everyone in the 30k scene is like that - but, sadly, the ones who are seem to like telling everyone their views.

(Similar attitudes can be seen being expressed by all sides of the AoS/9th Age/Kings of War divide, where those who picked alternative games are felt to be defective in understanding the true heart of the hobby - variously defined for this purpose. God forbid that you allow others to just enjoy their chosen game, amirite?)

You get this in absolutely anything in life. I've seen some of this in 30k players, and I dislike it as much as the next guy, but its not like its unique to 30k players (or AoS/9th Age etc). It happens everywhere; see the constant bickering between certain people in the 40k and WMH communities.

I was actually thinking Castellax with power blades indeed and just keep the shield purely for aesthetic reasons. I mean sure it's not strictly WYSIWYG but I'm way too interested in those babies not to try it. And I'll just take something else as a backup plan if the opponent doesn't like the idea.

Personally I'm a little annoyed that as a Cybernetica player I cannot field the Iron Circle, which are the best looking Automata models yet.

I may even stoop to including some marines in the army just to get access to them.
