Yeah, guess so. I thought it was some random piece they kitbashed/released 10+ years ago and pulled it out just so they could make that diorama for Stormbird Anyways, cool stuff.

Tau SH tank.... I can't even begin to imagine what that would look like.

Drool....

Hopefully like a flat Orca dropship with a turret on top.

Landing pad? Meh. I think it looks really good, but I want the new IA! Or announce some more titan weapons or something! Or Macrocarid Explorator!

Or gives them something to pose those shelf warmers on, on their shelves :-)

I know forge world is banging out non stop heresy stuff as its their biggest seller atm but come on guys how about some new guard terrain. Used to be some pretty cool bunkers back in the day.
Still have the desert command bunker in the pile to paint along with two pill boxes.

That's a pretty good idea. It's like £20 cheaper then a 2x2 set of the Mortalis Tiles. So you could buy 3 mortalis sets and this to make a 4x4 Mortalis Board with the landing pad representing a cargo/landing bay of the ship. Get some of the new Imperail Cargo crates for scatter terrain from your preferred discounter. (Or use what ever Scatter terrain you may already own of course.)

Or if you know someone with a Thunderhawk, throw that on their for terrian so it has a use.

Tau Titan is supposed to be a September release, with the rules coming in the next IA book(reputed to be Tau v. Mechanicus)--and there is no reliable evidence of a Tau codex releasing anytime soon.

As long as it's not the typical Imperial Armour story progression of:

1. Imperium goes to fight/reclaim something.
2. Finds themselves up against a force of xenos!
3. Deus Ex Machina!
4. Total xenos victory.

Still, Forge World doing the Adeptus Mechanicus (rather than the Mechanicum)... that's tempting.

Pleeeeease have some rules for Heresy era units for 40k, pleeeeease...

And yes, according to the fluff some of it is still around. All you'd need to do is leave out Castellax (they're kinda redundant now anyway) and make most of the other units Relics.

Do you know what 8th edition needs? A new FOC slot called ancients or relics or whatever.

That'd be the plan, I've got a 3'x3' table, so this and a couple more and I'm at 4'x4'.

I do know someone with a thunderhawk as it goes. He's had it maybe five years. Been used once that I'm aware of. I really don't know what people are talking about...

The pad is a 2x2 Realm of Battle Tile, compared to the 1x1 ZM tiles. If you already have a 3x3 board, Then buying these tile would make you a 5x5 board with what you already own if I understand correctly.

Not quite, 9 1' zm tiles gives you 9 square feet of gaming space. Adding this would add 4 square feet, totalling 13sq'. You need 16sq' to make a 4'x4' table, so I'd need another 3 zm tiles.

Doable

I've wanted the urban FW RoB tiles ever since they were released maybe 5 years ago(?), and I've always worried I will be too late, because in my experience, FW often retires items before I get around to purchase them.

So this new landing pad, which is designed to be used with those tiles, is good news to me, because it signals that the urban tiles aren't going out of production yet.

The landing pad is pretty cool, stylistically matches the Castellum stronghold well. Although I'm not sure if a Marauder could use it, do they have VTOL? I had a hard time working out which Imperial Navy craft actually do have VTOL capability other than the Valkyrie family. I'd probably leave a Marauder on the pad if I had one anyway, just so it got some use.

Good thinking! When I saw the landing pad I was pretty miffed as I'm getting fed up waiting on new mortalis tiles and accessories (particularly an overhead walkway, if your listening FW!!) but your idea for an integrated landing pad is food for thought!

I thought FW had ended support for zone mortalis, no new terrain or rules.

FW still supports Zone Mortalis... Horus Heresy books 1,2, 5 and 6, and Imperial Armour 2 and 4 all have Zone Mortalis rules. Atleast two of those were released in the last year. The lack of ZM model support is likely due to a combination of FW having moved into a new larger production facility and reworking many older model's molds to work with their new equipment and the fact that the ZM line is already pretty fleshed out.

According to Double Eagle, the Thunderbolt does (at least, it can launch from a launch rail like a Doodlebug), and the miniature has downward-pointing thrust nozzles. The Marauder has a couple of small downward-pointing thrusters (there's a view from underneath on the website), but they don't look enough to get it off the ground (although, anti-grav ...). To me, it looks like a STOL aeroplane, not VTOL.

Having said that, the Aeronautica Imperialis airfield diorama might suggest otherwise.

All of the Imperial aircraft are VTOL, even if it doesn't make much sense from a realism point of view. They all have skids for landing gear instead of wheels, so a rolling takeoff would be impossible. The obvious conclusion, when there aren't any engines in the appropriate place, is that they have some level of anti-gravity lift that can get them into the air.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I really hope they haven't stopped supporting ZM. It's accessories I really would like. Anyone any ideas for some third party ideas?

Hope so, been hanging on for that, the macroacrid and the drone for a while now.
Had £400 set aside simply for the releases.
Just seems like it's taking forever now lol.

Getting so bad I've nearly caught up painting my mechanicum.
So need a paint pile again.

Given they bumped the Porphywotsit, the new Knight, up in size to what looks to be near enough Warhound scale, you'll probably need to put aside more cash.

That decision still pisses me off tbh, something slightly between plastic Knight and Cerastus scale actually has a reasonable chance of seeing the table every now and again, but I'm not spending that much on a model that'll spend 364 days a year gathering dust on a shelf until the annual Apocalypse game at the local club.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
