Boosting Black Templar Biker
|
So, I was thinking yesterday, and some (random) thought came up. In the end I decided to post it here, seemingly the most appropriate place, even if it is not quite serious, yet more for fun. Bare with me...
What if Warhammer 40K also went the AoS way? What would the individual special rules for some units would be like? I'm specifically aiming for the more randomly silly 'fun' rules such as the ones for the Duardin Longbeards. I'll start off with a few examples.
Eldar Howling Banshees
(Including Exarchs, and Autarchs, with a Banshee Mask.)
Wail of the Banshee Mask: when this unit enters melee range through a charge move, both you and your opponent wail. If your voice pitch is higher than your opponent's, then the unit being charged has all its to hit scores changed to '6+' until the end of the current turn.
Space Marines Tactical Squad
(Could be any power armoured loyalist vanilla marine squad, actually.)
And They Shall Know No Fear!: when this unit is called to make a bravery test for casualties or because of enemy units that have the Fear special rule, instead of rolling a dice you wave your arm in front of you and in an imperious, commanding voice you say "And They Shall Know No Fear!". This unit is then immune to the consequences of what prompted the bravery test, or the Fear condition, until the end of the current turn.
Tyranid Ripper Swarm
Ripper Frenzy: As long as you have more edible snacks and foodstuffs on the table than your opponent, your Ripper Swarms gain +1 to their Move statistic and also gain a +1 to their dice rolls to hit.
Let's see how far we can take this. For the fun of it.

|
Noise Marines: May count their guns as assault 2 provided you play a guitar rift before shooting.
Blood Angels (any of them): Gain +1 initiative on the charge if you drink something red as you roll the dice for said charge.
Thousand Sons: Reroll failed saves of 1 if you chant "All is dust" while rolling it.
Iron Warriors Legion Tactic: Reroll failed armor saves of 1 if you have braces or any kind of piercin. (Iron within, iron without!)
Alpha Legion Legion Tactic: No I'm Alpharius! Models in your army gain infiltrate if you're wearing the same shirt as someone else in the room, or if you can get someone else in the store to pretend to be you.
|
ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Ork Warboss: Orks iz best.
"If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it doesn't count, if we run for it then we don't lose either as we can come back for another go." Orks always win or it didn't count.
Weirdboy: Its about to get a lot Weirder. Anytime a Weirdboy rolls double 1s when casting a Psychic Power while you have a headache the Weirdboy takes a wound with no saves allowed. Every non vehicle unit in play and not inside a vehicle or structure takes D6, S4, ignores cover, AP2 hits. Every vehicle and structure takes a glancing hit ignoring cover.

Nom Nom Nom:
If you can convince your opponent that you have swallowed one of their models during the Red Terror's attacks, he automatically kills his target.
Blood Frenzy:
If you place a piece of bloodied fabric (bandage, sticking plaster, tampon, etc) on the battlefield, all Khorne units must move towards it, and move an additional 3".
We'll Be Back:
Necron models automatically pass their roll for Resurrection Protocols if you speak with a thick austrian accent for the duration of the turn.

Focused Fire: A tau player may bring a small nerf gun to their game. Once per game in their own shooting phase, they may fire it at an enemy unit. If they successfully hit any models in that unit, the unit is immediately removed from play.

Some more I came up with...
The Scourged
(Chaos Space Marines, fallen chapter)
The lies. The lies. The lies!: when this unit is about to make a Bravery test, you may tell your opponent an obvious falsehood. If you did, and you haven't used the same falsehood in the same day before, you may choose to roll two dice for the Bravery test, and pick the better roll.
Cypher
(As in the fallen Dark Angel)
Cypher's cypher: when Cypher is with 1/2" of a unit of Dark Angels Space Marines, he may try to convince them to join him on his quest. Both your opponent and you roll a D6. You add Cypher's Bravery to the result of this roll, the opponent adds his unit's Bravery. Reroll a tie. If your result is higher, youtake control of the Dark Angels Space Marines unit, and they are now counted as "The Fallen" until the end of the battle. Models with the "Inner Circle" keyword are immune to this effect.
Space Marine Scout Squad
(or, basically, any unit which currently has the 'sniper' special rule)
Targeting Scope: any model in this unit that has a targeter modeled onto its sniper rifle gets a +1 on its to hit rolls against targets that you used a laser pointer on just before rolling to hit.

Blood-Drenched Death Company Marine
Little Rock, Arkansas
|
The Sanguinor, aka Superman for Blood Angels.
Plot invincibility: As long as the Sanguinor is within 6" of an objective, all his attacks automatically hit, automatically wound, negate any saves, and cause instant death. Furthermore, he will always survive any attack with at least 1 wound remaining as long as any other Blood Angel model can draw line of sight to him.
Death company.
Final mission: The death company must move as far as possible each movement phase towards the largest enemy model.
True rage: Once per game, after losing any amount of death company models, you may exhibit extreme anger towards your dice and/or the enemy model(s) responsible for their death. If you do, you may place all removed death company models back onto the table in their previous positions.
Tactical marines.
Inverse marine law: When only one marine is left from a squad, he gains +1 to all statistics, fearless, and may reroll failed saves for the remainder of the game.
Commander Dante.
Death mask of Sanguinius: As long as you wear a mask during the game, all enemy units lose any ability making them fearless or stubborn, and each enemy unit must pass a morale test at deployment. Any units that fail flee the battle before it begins.

Battle Brothers: If you and your opponent are both playing armies which include models from any Imperium faction, sing "Kumbaya." and both players must remove all non-Imperium models from their lists.
If your opponent joins in the singing, you both get a Victory Point, which carries over to any tournament scoring.
