Beautiful models, posting to sub. Dunno if it's still relevant to you, but I think the gold on the chapter mater worked better than the gold on the plasma pistol. I think it's because it's darker, but I'm not an expert.
Jolly good stuff though, finish the other stuff so we can see more pretty tanks!

Yes, this is because I didn't paint it the same way. I have to paint it anew, and I'll do it.

So, yesterday, returning from a trip to Paris, I went to a GW and I bought a box of "middenland tuff" for my guards.
I finally have something new for this blog^^
I added tussocks / tuffets to all my soldiers and on the Avenger's base, let's take a look !
Infantry:
Avenger:
I think the bases are better now and I won't add anything else.
What do you think ?

I really like the realistic/military thing your army has; the camo is great without being messy, as it can seldom be in such cases.
Seems that you fall in the category of the "Reasonable Guardsmen Regiments" (i.e not wearing ridiculous colourful coats and marching in line).
If you have some fluff, I'd be interested to see it.

Thank you !
In fact, after years of painting Space Marines, I wanted to paint tanks and camo, so I have began this army, but I have really no fluff, just a name: the 472th armored of Salemnor.
After having witnessed the power of the beast hunter shells for the first time Sunday, I want a second source of those shells ! So I'm painting a commissar tank.
The light is bad, and it is not yet finished, but I'm curious to know what do you guys think about it:
I'll post better pictures tomorrow !

Black is always difficult. I'd like to, gently, suggest some grey edge highlighting. Otherwise, looking ace!

Today I finished the commissar tank !
This is the first time I used dry brush on a tank, and I think it worked pretty well (I did some highlights too).
I don't want a commissar poking out of the hatch, as I already have two guards poking out of chimeras (one not yet shown here) and my commander poking out of his tank's hatch , and I wanted to give this tank personality / character without having a commissar poking out of the hatch.
Here is the (steel) beast:
And a comparison with one of my camo Leman Russ:
Overall, I'm proud and happy with it, but I wish I have a better handwriting, you can see on the flag my writting isn't good.
What do you think about it now it is over ?

Hi stonned astartes, you can see my vanquisher command tank in the middle of the first page !
I run my vanquisher with artificer hull and improved comms, to be sure my other tanks can get the orders.
I don't use the armored tracks because: you need to suffer a penetrating hit, then a immobilized result, then do 4,5 or 6...
I'm interested by the anti-grenades mesh, especially for the short range tanks (my future punisher for example) but I never get the points for it
Anti-grenades mesh + erratic manoeuvres orders = win , especially with the new faq about the grenades ! However, my poor Leman Russ are often destroyed in hand to hand combat by hormagaunts (or flyrant with double devourer...), because of their rear armor value of 10, but if I was playing against an army more dependent about grenades, maybe I would use it already.
My commissar will just have the artificer armour, as he can't give order.
Those two tanks have beast hunter shells, my only source of ap 2, and a great way to deal with those pesky MC with several wounds !
[b] EDIT: Here are three pictures of my Friday's night battle. We can see the armoured group fighting against the Grey (red ? ) Knight (2000 points so I had to add some guardsmen) !
Unfortunately, and despite 2 tanks having beast hunter shells, my opponent succeeded all his 4+ invulnerable saves on his dreadknight, for 4 turns !
He won the game, but it was pretty fun, and on a great gaming table.
all those tanks are dead !

Here is something new, at last:
Welcome my tank destroyer !
Still wip, but I don't have any boltgun metal left to finish it today, sadly, and the eagle will be painted white.

Here it is ! The stygies VIII tank destroyer !
So this is my first white primed model, I painted it like any other tank and I didn't notice any difference.
Be aware that I didn't have any black paint when painting this model, and thus is why it doesn't have the regiment insignia painted on it yet.
Enjoy !

Here are some pictures:
Tbh I messed up the spots / dots color (ushabti bones instead of zandri dust) and will have to do them again (and more numerous to match the previous paint scheme) but otherwise it is done !

the left side hatch of your tank destroyer is reversed, the backpack with shovel is upside down on your commissar tank, the paint job is solid, could use some weathering effect with powder.

That's a really nice camo scheme on the tanks! As Big Mac already said, they could use some weathering though.

So today I decided to take a group shot of the whole armoured battle group seeing as it is almost done (only one chimera left to paint for the command squad, and I do have a second tank hunter even if have no plan of playing it).
So this is it, in its full might:
Close up on the second veteran squad that finally got painted after years:
And with the added Cadian detachment I contrast painted in three days just for 8th Ed (damned T1 assaults !) and some Tallarn:
And some Elysian close up (not intended to be played together, or played at all, but still part of the IG so here they are !):
I do plan to add some weathering and battle damages in 2020, I practiced on some scenery and I actually managed to get some satisfying effect, so one day you may see it !

And because the Imperium's wars are never ending, thus shall be its armies.
A new squad of stormtroopers is done ! I had painted one a few weeks ago, but I changed the scheme a little bit. Seeing as I had a squad of kasrkins and a squad of stormtroopers, I wanted to get the new scions one to have them all. I decided to paint them as Inquisitorial stormtroopers instead of the usual regimental camo though.
I never paint black and so this is almost my first attempt at doing it properly, it's a double highlight: the first on the edges of the model and the second one, lighter, only on the upper parts of the model. I used desaturated green and magenta, but otherwise it's normal painting.
I had the idea for the face from Edge of Tomorrow Rita' special soldiers.

Ok guys, I'm finally entering the world of weathering thanks to greenstuff world. Here is my first ever attempt on my painted Stygies tank destroyer.
I added leafs, mud on the trails and weathering powder (black and black).
However, due to the camo, the powder is almost non visible...
I'm uncertain for the leafs: should I add more or less ? I don't know if it looks natural like this
One question: the pigment fixer worked more like a pigment melter to be honest. Did I put too much ?
Where is the wip:
Thanks !

I like the effect you’ve got on the tracks, looks like they e just driven through a puddle. I guess that could be the fixed melting the pigments. The sides though don’t look to have been to the same place as they look dry. Both effects look good, but it’s confusing. I also haven’t tried weathering myself so my opinion counts for little !

Indeed, I didn't weather the sides at all. I kinda forgot after the trans and the roof, there is just some mud around the tracks. I'll wait until tomorrow as it is already pretty late !
I am also super happy with the mud, having finally the effect I was looking for !
Most of the powder looks and kinda acts like paint once I use the pigment fixer, which is surprising, I don't know where I failed

Just dropping in to say I like the camo pattern on your armored vehicles. Reminds me of the elaborate late-war patterns used by the Germans.
As for mud, it looks good on the tracks. Nice and fresh. A little more along the bottom using the "splatter method" (using a stiff bristle brush dabbed in mud mixture, and your finger), and maybe some short, vertical top-down streaking along the top. Ultimately, it's your call. Just don't go too wild with mud effects and make the paint work on the sides redundant. Just some friendly advice.
Overall, awesome work.

I really love the work on the tanks in here - camo and commissar both. They look brilliant on the table!
Stormtrooper scheme is really interesting too, love the teal cables popping against the crimson.
I think the tracks look great all muddied up and would agree that maybe a few more splatters around the bottom would help blend the sides in. The leaves are cool too; not sure I have seen that before!
Lovely little hetzer tank. Can't wait to see more!
