I just want the Gozanti for my home-brew pirate squadron. I dont want a full huge ship, and I have never liked the look of the Calamari transports. Plus I want guns.

Yeah, my guess is that they want them out in time for Movie Hype. Meaning that the rest of the Wave is probably not going to come out until next year.

It'll give me a chance to flesh out my collection in the meantime. It's amazing how complete my gamut feels, even if there are a few holes in my collection, compared to other wargames.

That is one thing that FFG has done well with this game... between the structure of upgrades and the price point of expansions, they have created a situation where most players are going to buy most expansions. Right now, the only expansions I don't have are the Tantive IV, Hounds Tooth, and Scyk. $15 and $19 US packs are easy grabs when going to the game store and the larger kits are nice things to save up a bit for. Compared to what $30 gets me in other games, I feel that the X-Wing stuff is a good value, especially since it is playable right out of the box.

My feelings too.

In the GW-centric threads, some people always seem to struggle with the concept of price=/=value. X Wing ships are relatively expensive for what you get, but the amount they offer in terms of how much gameplay they introduce with each ship and upgrades makes them tremendous value, IMO

Agreed. The faction mentality is a nice break away from 40K-esque games, too. The way they have split upgrade cards means you are "forced" to buy outside your faction, but at that price point, it's just not a big issue.

Just a bit of an update, the TIE/FO and T-70 are now "On the Boat" on FFG's website.

I agree to a point, yet there are several times where I have " had to" buy an expansion and end up selling the ship and just keep the cards. Also with the T-70 and TIE/FO I feel that there should be double Juke and Intergrated Astromech cards and there aren't. What am I going to do with several T-70 and TIE FO ships if I'm not a spammer or fly the named ships? If you bought the core set, I feel these expansions are redundant as everyone is going to want multiples of the cards but not multiples of the ship expansions IMO. The only thing I use from the core II set is my Wired card, an occasional small asteroid and POE, and that's rare as I mostly fly scum.

Bukero0, I see your point. Core II is has been produced at a different time in a different environment from Core I. As a result, it has a different value than the first. Value also varies from person to person... particularly in your case where you mostly fly a single faction.

For example,I don't really think that I'm going to buy a second Core II set myself now that I won't need the second damage deck to loan out at local events.

That doesn't diminish the fact that FFG has really made a collector's game with X-Wing. Other than the Scyk, which really missed the mark, all of the expansions offer something that most players are going to want.

The Scyk has a Mangler Cannon. If you need more than two, it's the cheaper alternative.

Since we'll have the major ships of Rebels included in Wave 8, do you think the following waves will a)steer away from that show from now on and b)also steer clear of the "Legends" material for future waves?

We'll have ships for most of the last three episodes, even just for characters who got a whopping 15 seconds screen time. Will we see even more fan service (such as the Wild Karrde) or will it be ships exclusively from the new Canon as established by Disney?

No.

None of the Scum ships in Wave 8 exist anywhere but in Legends material. There is no reason to think that FFG won't continue to pull from the wealth of subjects.

I'm not sure where FFG is going to go from here. It does seem to be some sort of transition.
With Wave 8, FFG will complete the bounty hunters seen in Empire. They aren't solely from Legends.. they all had figures way back in the 80's. It also begins two other eras of ships, Rebels (BBY5) and Force Awakens (ABY 34).

Some of the options:
Clone Wars ships... this one has been beat to death on other forums. Consensus is that it will have to be a different system of stats in order to have meaningful distinctions between the ships.
Continue with The Force Awakens era... obviously they are going this direction. We've seen how they are going to handle having meaningful distinctions between that era and the original trilogy era.... tech upgrades. It will be interesting to see what else comes out for those ships.
Ships of their own design. We have seen this with both the Imperial Raider and the TIE Punisher. I can see them using this path to fill in spaces where designwise there is a need and there isn't a current cannon ship that fills that need.
Finally, there are the off-year movies. Currently filming is Star Wars:Rogue One. There are rumors of a Han Solo origin movie, as well as a Boba Fett solo movie. These can introduce a lot of characters and ships. I fully expect to see and Aces style release in support of Rogue One.

The Boba Fett solo movie is him being digested for 90 minutes? Gross...

And with Alan Tudyk in the Rogue One movie, I hope theire is a Title card "Serenity." There won't, for obvious reasons, but one can hope.

SPJ, I said "after Wave 8." Wave 8 was most probably in the planning stages when Disney scooped up the property. Or the Bounty Hunters from ESB were given a sort of swan song to fill out the Scum faction, but I seriously doubt we'll see more Legends material after that. I'll be happily surprised if it happens. Like I said. Wilde Karrde. Could be a nifty epic Scum ship.

Spoiler from Aftermath. Serious...
Spoiler:
Boba Fett's Armor has its own scene in the book, and it is out of the Sarlacc. Where does that put Boba Fett? Who knows.

Figures aren't the same. The only bounty hunter ship we saw in the OT was Slave I so every other bounty hunter craft has come from the EU (or Legends or whatever it is).

Clone Wars ships... this one has been beat to death on other forums. Consensus is that it will have to be a different system of stats in order to have meaningful distinctions between the ships.
Not going to happen.

This is a given.

The TIE Punisher wasn't their design. It's the TIE Interdictor from Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, they just renamed it (I'm guess because it was too close to TIE Interceptor). The Raider was their design, but they worked with Lucasfilm to do it and based on interviews I read it seems like it's kind of a "last resort" option.
Also probably a given.

They're going to continue to release The Force Awakens ships and ships from the Rebellion Era.

Disney bought Lucasfilm and Star Wars in 2012, the same year the game debuted. Wave 8 was definitely not in the works back then. There is still lots of unused material to pull from, especially for Scum.

It's already been three years since the purcahse? Oh my. Time does go by faster when you're older. I'd lost track.

Would an EPT called "Leaf on the Wind" be too on the nose?
