The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Wonder if that means there will be some kind of hint or even display for the upcoming Specialist Games revival on show? Now, that's ludicrous to suggest based on the GW we know, but so is a plastic Horus Heresy, engagement in festival-based sales and a re-acknowledgement of Specialist Games, and we've seen all of those in the last month...

Birthday quiz!
For the 25th celebration, I had the highest quiz score at my local GW and won myself $100 in free stuff.
Hmm...that would indicate that I was a bit of a grognard back THEN, which makes me...really old now. Anyway, I still have a Land Raider on sprue that was part of that free loot.

I hear the introduction to 8th edition, which is being released to celebrate will be something along the lines of this:
For more than four decades the Executives
have sat immobile on the leather thrones of GWHQ.
They are the Masters of Plastic by the will of the
investors and master of a few hundred gaming stores
by the might of their inexhaustible copyright claims.
They are a rotting carcass writing invisibly with greed
from the Dark Age of Capitalism. They are the Carrion Lords
of the Franchise, for whom a hundred store workers lose their
jobs every day, for whom prices are raised and profits raised.
Inhuman prices, obscene profits. To be a player in such times
is to be one amongst untold millions. It is to live in the cruellest
and most expensive bloody gaming regime imaginable. This is
the tale of those times.
It is a torment you can live today - if you dare - for this is a dark
and terrible era of wargaming where you will find little comfort or
hope in discounts and 'special' offers. If you want to take part in the
financial debt then prepare yourself now. Forget the power of fanbases,
common sense and consumer demand, for there is no compassion
amongst the executives, only an eternity of price increases and re-releases
and the laughter of thirsting investors.
But the marketplace is a big place and, whatever happens, you will not be valued.

On January 2nd and 3rd here at Warhammer World we are celebrating Games Workshop reaching its 40th Birthday, and entering our 41st year – an auspicious number if ever there was one!
If you have a ticket to join us at Warhammer World for one of these great days, we’ve already revealed some of what you can see and do here, and as birthdays are all about getting exciting and cool new things – here is more news about what you can get your hands on!
Forge World pre-releases and first chance to buy!
The big exciting news is that we’ll have a limited number available of the latest addition to The Horus Heresy Character Series: Corvus Corax, the Primarch of the Raven Guard Space Marine Legion. You can see the miniature and get him here before anywhere else! There may be other Forge World pre-releases to announce as well…
This is also your first chance to get two brand new Forge World t-shirt designs.
Birthday Event Exclusive art prints
We’re adding 10 new prints to our art range for this event only, commemorating some classic moments from Games Workshop through the years, right up to today. These prints are mounted and ready to frame, so are a great way to share your love of the hobby at home!
Event Exclusive models
As the birthday celebrations for Games Workshop are a very special event for Warhammer World, it’ll be one of the final chances to get the 2015 event exclusive models from Forge World. Don’t miss them!
New Warhammer World exclusives
This event is your first chance to get the newest t-shirt designs we’re adding to the Warhammer World exclusives range. Of course you’ll be able to buy the HQ Command Tanks, Blood Oath campaign book, mugs, hoodies and more that are only available to purchase in person here at Warhammer World!
It’s the perfect chance to get something unique to remember your visit, or as a gift for someone special back home.
A Birthday isn’t complete without a few surprises, so at the event you may find some other great pre-releases and special opportunities to help with the celebrations!
Gonna assume this will be the last of the 2015 event exclusive models, otherwise ..well...

I still can't get over how monumentally stupid it is for them to limit merch sales to events only. I mean seriously, one of the main reasons to even do merch in the first place is to turn people into walking billboards for your products, and then GW go and severely limit the pool of people who can buy one?
I mean maybe, maybe if they were trying their usual "better than solid gold!" BS and selling the shirts for £500 each you could justify limiting it to the people who love them enough to attend events just to buy things a few weeks early and hear the staff tell them there's nothing they're allowed to tell them, but they're priced similarly to a lot of band and brand-style shirts, so it makes zero sense - any amount of sales you might be generating by touting them as event exclusives would be dwarfed by the amount you could make by simply making them available to a wider audience through the internet or stores.

Got a ticket for the Saturday. None of my friends stirred their stumps and did the same, so I'm going solo. :(
With it being free tickets and no confirmation, they went quickly, and people who have no intention of going could just as easily grab a spot.
That said, I'm looking forward to it. The staff are always lovely, the new reveals will doubtless be lost on me, but scrap daemon sounds fun.
I hope there's cake.
