So bring in the minis you will never use again and sell them for store credit to buy shiny new minis.

Thanks for the notice!

I have some GF9 terrain that would be great to sell and not have to worry about shipping. I think me and the missus will be making a trip down the 605 this Saturday.

Are we only allowed to sell to the store? Could I sell to the other customers there?

Though I'd probably only buy things. :(

@Dentry - I'm assuming that the sales go through the store. So you sell things, the customer buys an in-store credit voucher, and uses that voucher to pay you.

You don't sell TO the store, but you do sell THROUGH the store. You pick up the items you want from other sellers, and then pay that seller's indicated price not directly to the seller, but to the store. At the end of the day, the store totals up the amount people paid to each seller, and then issues the seller that much in Store Credit.

I've done this twice at Brookhust, and it's a really great event. In fact, that's where I made the acquaintance of "Bob the Inquisitor" last year.

I'll be there with more bits and parts and rare and cool bits and parts and awesome stuff. So much cool stuff that it messes up my grammar Come by and let me help you customize your army/armies!

Gonna have any Imperial Knight carapace weapons? Looking for a missile launcher.

General event related question:

If you plan to sell, do you have to stick around for the entire day? If I could hang out for a few hours, sell some items, and then take off with my store credit that will make selling viable. If not I might just go to buy.

I am hoping to have 3 or so Imperial Knight Wardens parted out and available, so keep your fingers crossed that FedEx doesn't take FOREVER to get them Knights to me

To answer your other question, as far as I know (I'm not officially related to Brookhurst the store at all, I've just participated twice) you CAN show up, sell for however long, then pack up and receive whatever credit you've made. I'll be there the whole dang day, but that's because I do this kind of thing, along with my extensive Dakka Swap Shop, Bartertown, and Ebay thing as a sideline very seriously.

And if anyone else has any requests for items, let me know here in this thread or by PM and I'm happy to do my best to have what you're looking for available

Argh, why did they have to schedule this for the 5th!? Why couldn't they have waited until the 12th? Damn, I'd totally have gone to this, but I'm going to be in Japan until the 9th. I totally would've brought some stuff to sell this time around, too.

Sorry you won't be able to make it, but if you're looking for some great stuff to buy/sell/trade locally, you can always hit up "The Bitz Godfather" (that's me )

Amazingly, they have an actual description of the event:
Saturday January 5th,
from Noon through 3:00PM.

Come in and get great deals from your fellow hobbyists!

If you would like to sell, bring in any of your unwanted Games or Models and set your price. When you sell your item we will issue you store credit for the amount you marked on the item. It’s a great way to get rid of your older games & kits and pick up something new. Here's how it works, Tag your items with your name and your price. Your buyer brings it to the Bring & Buy Register and pays for the item. We will keep track of your sales and issue you store credit for your items sold. And it’s completely free, there is no fee for using the tables provided! If you wish to sell just a few items but do not wish to man your sale space, you may bring in your items starting Tuesday December 1st, and we will display and sell your items for you.

Space is limited, please reserve to guarantee yourself space.

Please call us if you have any questions.

Purchases not eligible for rewards redemption. Credit will be issued to your Brookhurst Hobbies Rewards card, if you do not have a rewards card, we will issue you a Brookhurst Hobbies Rewards card. Brookhurst Hobbies reserves the right to refuse anyone the right to sell at Brookhurst Hobbies.

I was dog-sitting for a moneyed family I know over the Thanksgiving holiday, and just got paid in cash tonight. All that $150 is earmarked for spending at this event!

I hate you all for being able to go, and me stuck with stupid familial obligations.

Ugh.

Otherwise I'd be all up in that thing with quite a menagerie of stuff on offer.

Hopefully I can hit the summer or spring one.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Watch and listen to me ramble about these minis before ruining them with paint!

$150???

Were you holding a chihuahua for ransom?

I am most likely going to be buying at this event since most of what I have to offer is old GW sprues, and maybe some assorted non GW detritus from various kickstarters and shady dealings.

Unless someone wants to spend big money on my converted Karl Franz.

Jah, maybe. I think I need to tear out some NSFW stuff first. Also, the babysitter I have lined up is making doubtful noises, so I may need to bring the little one there and stay for only a short while.

Uh-Oh... Maybe I could bring my little guy and they could play together/keep each other occupied? Though that might be quite wishful thinking... (though I bet my wife would be on board with having the Pre-schooler out of her hair as she take care of the infant..)

As for the Dogs, like I said, this family has a little money - they live up on the high fancy hills of Newport Coast, so...

All the better for y'all, as I plan to spend every last cent if possible

Looks like I'm bringing the little one, at least for a while. Better load up a bunch of toys, coloring books, crayons, books, snacks, napkins, excedrin, and sanitizer.

Hope I still have room for bits.

Heya, I'll be in a tech shirt, but I'll probably not be able to hang around very long.
____

OK, I swung by for a little bit, but didn't really see anybody. Oh well...

I was there, but I was in and out of the store due to family complications. I didn't see you, either.

I did see Catharsix and JahJoshua, though. That was fun. I also got some very good deals. There was quite a crowd for a while.

Sorry to have missed this, guys.

Thursday night I started coming down with what has turned out to be a mean case of the flu. I was in no state to be around people Saturday, unfortunately.

Hope to see you guys at the next one, and Jah if you are there I'll be happy to bring some of Drew's pieces down.
