Hi Dakkanauts,

I was thinking about the fluff of my commander and I thought it would be nice to share, comment and take inspiration. So go on and present your guy / girl! I'll start with mine :
- Name : Maxime Andrevitch Rykovski
- Race : Human
- Allegiance : Imperium of Man
- Rank : Colonel, commander of the 506th Mechanized, 22nd Rhaye Storm Division.
- Age : 38
- Place of birth : Rhaye, Sirius Sector, Ultima Segmentum, Halo Stars Boundary.
- Favourite wargear : Carapace Armor, Master-crafted Boltgun with Hellfire Ammo, Powerfist, Savrinika Reliquary, bionics.
- Biography : Maxime Andrevitch Rykovski was born on Rhaye in a family of the local bourgeoisie, wherein all of his ancestors had served with pride the RSD. As any Rhayian child, he was prepared since childhood to become a soldier and entered the Sarrandra Imperial Academy, a well know but not top of the pile military training facility established by the Administratum. Everything was going well for him until Eldar Corsairs, which lurk very often around the Sirius sector attacked Sarrandra and killed many of its fellow students, who tried to resist to their raid. The promotion was wiped out, just like many of their Ordo Prefectus instructors, but Rykovski managed to survive with a few comrades he toon the lead in the middle of the fight. When he finally graduated, he had conceived a cold hate for xenos Eldar, a hate that was characteristic among the isolated human population of Rhaye. Eager to fight but conscious of the unammed dangers who were hidden in this part of Imperial space, he was first affected as a lieutenant in the 506th Mechanized Infantry Regiment, part of the very famous 22nd RSD "Vympel". This division is not solely one the most ancient units in service, but also is known for its merciless tactics when it comes to purge the xenos and the heretics. Rykovski found like-minded soldiers in his new unit, for the most part Rhayian men and women who had lost someone in a xenos attack. More than any other Division, the 22nd was thus perfectly suited to satisfy his hatred.

But the young lieutnant had to learn to control his feelings during battle. His very first deployment was on the ice world of Rax, where the RSD were sent under command of the Ordo Xenos to purge a Tyranid infestation which plagued the planet since too long. His section had a remarkable behaviour on the battlefield but lost half of its strenght after Rykovski decided to cleanse a network of underground gallery where xenos biomorphs were reproducing. Cut from his colonel and constantly under attack, he abandoned its defensive position to stop the flow of alien at the root. Thanks to the discipline of his soldiers and their powerful heavy flamers and melta bombs, he reached his objective and allowed the Imperial operation to go on with a renewed vitality in the area. He was salutated by his commander for his initiative spirit and the utter destruction he brought to the ennemy, honoring the tradition of the RSD. But he was also warned that such tactics could not be repetead infinitely for human lives were counted on Rhaye. With this harsh experience, Rykovski stayed two years in Rax until the planet was completely purged.

After this, he had a brief permision in Rhaye, were he was married swiftly to a lieutnant named Anna . Just the time for them to have two children and insure the strenght of their people, both parents were separated and sent to combat and would never see each other again.
That was how things work on Rhaye and he had to cope with the total absence of feelings this tradition needed.

This short transition was a good occasion for him to undertake additionam mental and physic training protocols used by the Rhayian Administratum to enhance its soldiers and turn them into fearless and unsensible servants of the Emperor.
To be continued ! Pics are coming!

Here is mine:
Name: Shas'O Ke'lshan Aloh Dak'e'shi Mont'yr (Common name: Coldsword, or O'Dak'e'shi)
Race: Tau
Affiliation: Tau Empire
Rank: Commander
Age: Unknown, not found in Imperial records
Place of birth: Ke'lshan, homeworld of the Ke'lshan sept
Armor: XV85 Crisis Enforcer Battlesuit
Weapons: Varies, most commonly two Missile Pods
Biography: Coldsword is a newly promoted Commander who has yet to prove himself in his exalted rank. Hailing from the sept world of Ke'lshan, he has demonstrated prowess in fighting during the various alien raids upon the sept world. He has also seen service abroad, including several campaigns to rid various Tau colonies of Orks and Eldar pirates. It should be interesting to see what becomes of this up-and-coming hero of the Empire. His current posting is on a forest world full of curious blue-colored foliage; for this reason his cadre has adopted blue armor with the yellow markings of Ke'lshan sept.

Note: I hope the name isn't already taken in the various fluff. I haven't done much research, but the name sounded cool and I was able to find Tau language words for it. I will fill out his biography more if I get some games in with him, working those battles into his fluff.

Bio: A former Sergeant of a World Eaters Rampager squad, Kiltaras remained loyal to his Primarch well after the Heresy. After Skalathrax, he rallied a group of those World Eaters who remained and declared his group to be the remnants of the original Legion, maintaining the World Eaters name for the glory of Angron. The new band of World Eaters have remained ever since, growing steadily smaller with each campaign, supplementing their meager forces with those of the Blood God himself. At this point, the Marine forces are nearly outnumbered by their Daemon allies, and those that remain have largely been affected by the Warp in the past 10 millennia; more and more Raptors are succumbing to warp taint to become Warp Talons, the war machines have been fully turned to Daemon Engines, and nearly all of the Berserkers have been turned into Possessed. Lord Kiltaras knows his days as a fighting force won't last forever, but he will continue to spill as much blood as he can for his Primarch and for the Blood God.

The girl.

Mine:
Name: Boss Da Kunnin' Git - so kunnin' noone knows his real name (he forgot it)
Race: Ork
Affilation: Blood Axes clan
Rank: Warboss of a relatively small band
Age: Da Kunnin' Git doesn't keep track of such useless information
Weaponsof choice: 'Eavy armor or Megaarmour, Power klaw and a shoota or a twin-linked shoota in case he wears Megaarmour

Da Kunnin' Git is not the most brutal and aggressive of all the bosses and one could wonder how he actually managed to rise to power and stay there for quite some time. Mostly by accident. He was just one of a few boyz left after a massive imperial retaliation strike on the ork village located in the frozen wasteland near one of the Northern hive cities. The hive cities themselves were quite modest in terms of population - at least for the Imperium - and there was just a bunch of them because the climate didn't allow to produce enouh goods to feed more men and the trade was not going all that great.

Da Kunning Git fell asleep while fishing. He had drilled a tiny hole in the ice, placed a fishing and squiging pole - as those old and new underwater dwellers ate different things; he was aiming for larger fish and larger fish ate smaller fish and...squigs - yep, local fish got accustomed to underwater squigs - while squigs ate everything that they could swallow, but didn't grow too big to effectively hunt down larger prey due to freezing temperatures and fierce rivalry with local inhabitants. After touching a drop of squig rum, Git got lost in slumber. Than BAM! He heard a loud explosion. Jumped up, grabbed the poles, pulled them out quickly and dashed towards the camp. Hooks dangled around with bait missing on both of them. He was running as fast as he could, chuckling and gasping, trusty slugga hanging by his side - it jams just one in three times.

woops...got a bit too carried away with description. All in all, he's a blood axe warboss who escaped a slaughter by nearly drowning in icy waters than going Bear-Grills in frozen wastelands, than rose to power simply because there were just few other ork survivors left and he outwitted them. Utilises a lot of ummie taktix and even has some temporary ummie allies. Is not overly brave but kunnin'.

Regular Dakkanaut

Name: Warboss Gorhack 'Ironkrusha', 'Gitkilla', Tineata', etc.
Race: Ork
Faction: Bad Moon Warboss uv da Ironkrusha Waaagh
Age: Oi!!! Why's you askin?
Place of Birth: Sum damm rock somewherez.

Wargear: Usually yellow-and-black Mega-Armor with a double-barreled Orky energy blaster. His one-eyed Gnasher Squig, 'Syklops', can usually be found gnawing the sweet meat off the leg of his most recent skumgrod (favorite enemy).

Bio: Gorhack took over the Ironmongerz from the recently deceased Goff Warboss Duff Bullykicka. Somewhat of a thinker among Ork-kind, Gorhack was tired of the unimaginative Duff repeatedly launching profitless frontal assaults against the Panzee, Tin'eads and 'Umies uv da Uldarion Reach.

After wiping the soggy bitz of Duff off his power Klaw, Gorhack set about remaking the Ironmongerz in his own image. He purged all the no gud nikkin' Lootas from his Warband, reasoning that 'yer can't stock up on ammo if dem Lootas iz alwayz lootin' da stuff afore yer kin use it!' As he was no fan of dour, unimaginative Goffs like the erstwhile Duff, Gorhack then forced all the Goffs to either (a) paint their gear yellow, or (b) get a gud kickin'. Unsurprisingly, most of the Goffs, anxious to ingratiate themselves to Da Noo Boss (and equally anxious to avoid a gud kickin'), complied. Those who objected were subjected to the business end of a shoota or used to stock Syklops personal larder.

After the purges the Ironmongerz Warband was somewhat reduced in size. With only 2/3 of their original numbers under Duff, Grotz and Mekboyz were set to work up-armoring many of the surviving mobs. Along the same lines of reasoning, if he wanted more firepower with fewer Boyz he was gonna need more and/or better gunz... so the overworked Meks and Grotz slaved away at welding, wiring, nailing and stapling sluggas and shootas together to create more and better and weirder firearms.

Most of the surviving Nobs were stuffed into high-tonnage Mega-armor, highly kustomized to their own exacting specifications. 'I wants it more stompy, more shooty an' ded killy' was by far the most common request.

With stocks of scrap metal and yellow paint running low, Gorhack set about dealing with his un-Orky competition.

The Necrons of the Urhatek Dynasty seemed a likely source of scap metal and looted tek. The Urhatek seemed numerically the smallest of his potential foes. Besides, in the long run their unearthly energy weapons and time/space bendin' tek seemed to be the greatest threat to Ork dominance in the sector. Besides which they were un-Orky in the nastiest possible way. "I mean, dey don't even make gud eatin'" as Gorhack himself put it.

Launching a campaign of machine-icide, Gorhack's numerically superior forces smashed the small Urhatek forces in a series of skirmishes and small battles. Nonplussed by the Necron tendency to phase out when defeated, Gorhack's Meks grumbled when they could not salvage weapons, vehicles or even scrap after each fight.

The Urhatek resorted to a guerrilla strategy, launching raids at poorly defended Ork bases and ambushing convoys, then disappearing before da Boyz could 'march to da sound uv da gunz'. They inflicted losses at an alarming rate, and even the Orks notorious ability to reproduce via sporing could not keep up.

Between the losses and lack of loot, Gorhack soon faced revolt at his inability to bring the Necrons to decisive battle. Smashing skulls to keep order and slaughtering challengers for his leadership was fun and all, but something hadda change, an' quick.

As always, Gork (or maybe Mork) took care of their favored sons, be they idiots, madmen or a bit of both. And while Gorhack was certainly slightly mad, no one ever said he was an idiot (to his face).

It happened that a mob of scrounging Grots stumbled across a spluttering, arcing but still (barely) functional Dolmen gate after a particularly ugly firefight. With no real idea where it led or how it worked, Gorhack set his Meks to slaving on the Tellyporta to stabilize and enlarge the portal. After two weeks and half a dozen lethal accidents, Big Mek Mekgrub pronounced the Tellyporta 'ready ter go'.

Gathering all his Nobs, Meganobs and Flash Gitz around the Tellyporta, Gorhack tossed Mekgrub through the arcing portal 'Jus' ta be shur'. When the Mek staggered back through the portal, more or less intact (other than some Gauss score-marks on his armor) the Warboss roared a mighty 'Waaaaaagh!!!!' And charged through, followed closely by his thugs and toughs.

They erupted into a half-mobilized Urhatek command center, loaded with Crypteks and Necron Lords and protected by Praetorians and Lychguard. In the epic brawl that followed, the elites of the two species clashed deep in the Necron catacombs. The Necrons summoned Immortals and Warriors to join the fray and scarabs swarmed the attackers. A pair of Stalkers skulked into the battle, laying waste to even the most heavily armored Meganobs.

But in the close quarters of the catacombs the Orks were at their bloody-handed best, and the Necrons at a relative disadvantage. With the Lychguard and Praetorians shredded by power klaws, dismembered by buzzsaws and battered by choppas their reanimation protocols were completely overwhelmed. Driven out of their own command center, the Immortals and Warriors managed to stop the diminished Orky elites amid the reanimation catacombs and fabrication centers.

The respite did not last. The rest of the Ironmongerz poured through the Tellyporta as well, thirsty for battle and keen to pay back the Necrons for their guerrilla campaign. They rushed the Necron positions, taking horrendous casualties in the process, but once they crashed into the deathless soldiery the outcome was never really in doubt.

With the Reanimation Catacombs in Ork hands the battle was lost. The surviving Necrons, led by Overlord Urhatek the XXVIII himself, attempted to escape on a Cairn Class warship. Gorhack and his surviving Meganobs pursued the fleeing Overlord to the very bridge of his ship. Syklops leaped on a Cryptek, wrenching the staff from his skeletal fingers and worrying the throat of the Necron like a Squighound with a Grot. A squad of Deathmarks materialized and attempted to take down Gorhack, but in those close quarters he charged headlong into the snipers. Using a pair of Deathmarks like flails he thundered after Urhatek, roaring incoherent challenges, spittle flying from his fanged maw.

The Overlord, sensing all was lost, attempted to execute the Cairn's self destruct protocol. But Gorhack slammed into the Necron like a green thunderbolt, battering him furiously with his twin Necrodermis flails. One Deathmark shattered the Overlord's spine while the other knocked Urhatek's skull clean off his shoulders. The projectile bounced off a bulkhead, careened off a stanchion and clanged down a recycling chute where it was summarily disassembled at the molecular level.

The battle was over. After Syklops was separated from the Staff of Light (it had become his favorite chew toy, though it kept trying to electrocute him) the Orks now had their claws on all the scrap metal and Necron tek any Mek could want.

In honor of their victory, the Ironmongerz renamed themselves the Ironkrushaz, and Gorhack himself was known as "Da Ironkrusha" (Dere kin be only Wun). Thereafter Ironkrusha weaponry leaned heavily toward energy weapons. If the Orkified blasterz didn't really do any more damage than a standard slugga or shoota no one complained; the light show was more than worth it!

Now about that yellow paint shortage... I hear dem 'Umies 'ave some in stock...

Wargear, Early Production void hardened MkIII "Iron" pattern power armour. Phobos pattern boltgun, Artificer wrought power gladius, Invictarii pattern boarding shield.

Born on Terra during the end of the Unification Wars, Macro was taken in the first 5,000 legionaries of the XIIIth Legion and first saw action during the pacification of Luna. He fought his way through the ranks from line Legionary to veteran sergeant. Within ten years he was transferred to a breached unit in what would become the 22nd Company. During the osiris rebellion his unit took significant losses, including his right arm and severe shrapnel wounds in his chest. He spent several months in the strike cruiser "Guilty Tangent"s medicae wing suffering through extensive surgery to remove the shrapnel, so that by the time he was back to combat duties his legion was changed. Contact had been made with Lord Guilliman and the XIIIth Legion as we know it today was being created.

Following dozens of compliances with the legion Macro Had become a Line Centurion in the 22nd Company. When the time came for the muster at Calth, Macro commanded the breacher contingent on Guilty Tangent.

His combat record following the Calth Atrocity is filled with gaps and half submitted reports. Some state he was killed in action when his Caestus assault ram was shot down during a boarding action in the outer rim of Ultramar, others say he was crucified upon a XVIIth Legion Sicaran. Some state that he is conducting search and destroy operations across the five hundred worlds, hunting the Bearers of the Word.

Thanks for all the input!

I keep going with my bio as I was working the whole day :

Having became endoctrinated enough to start a true military ascension, Rykovski soon got back to the battlefield. He led the 5th section of the 506th Mechanized through two minor operations in the Halo Stars border and started to get known for the hardheartness he had against any of his enemies. Everywhere he fought, he applied the credo of the RSD to the letter, killing his adversaries to the last without mercy and taking no prisoners. Rhayians usually don't have a single scintilla of compassion for those who oppose the greatness of the Emperor but Rykovski was special, even among his kind of cold-minded soldiers. Everytime he fought, he found no rest until his troops won. Many times, he did nonsensical things that even his enemies could not trust; on Corna Primus, he ran alone across a line of heretical guardsmen to join an isolated allied force, on a Urdeiz-Bear, he took down two Grot tanks with his krak grenades and broke a decisive Greenskin offensive on the Imperial HQ, thus saving many high ranked officers from a certain death and permitting allied regiments to evacuate. An the list of his feats of arms went on...

In 965.M41, he was promoted executive officer under the Captain Vassiliev, commander in chief of the 506th Mechanized. Among the ranks of the regiment, Rykovski began to be considered as an incarnation of the righteous fury of the Emperor, the embodiment of the billions Rhayian who fell for their world and seek revenge against the enemies of Mankind. Merciless, faithful and brave, he had nothing but despise for officers who were leading their forces from behind and always maintained harsh discipline among his troops. This meant he had no remorse of firing those he considered weak or send them in impossible missions to prove their valor. Only the most capable Rhayians stayed in is unit; the other ones either gave up or died trying. As a commander-in-second, he brought these practices to the whole regiment, which soon became on of the most effective of the 22nd.

-Favorite Wargear: Mega Armor, Lucky Stikk, Power Klaw, "Da Burna Choppa" (A kustom big choppa with burna bitz to heat up the choppa. It exploded )

-Background: A Warboss of a Deathskull WAAAGH! that pride themselves on proper orky values of "Fightin an Lootin". In the early days of the WAAAGH! he encountered another Deathskull warboss named Scuzzer and his own WAAAGH! While fighting both Warbosses ended up nearly killing each other but with a bit of surgery and unlicensed cybork implants both Warbosses where returned to working order. Both Warbosses assumed they where the winner of the fight and started commanding the WAAAGH! Warboss Vankraken saw that his new #2 Scuzzer was quite good at coming up with plans so he figured why not loot his ideas. So Scuzzer comes up with the ideas and tells Warboss Vankraken then Vankraken yells to the rest of his boyz to follow the plans.

Warboss Vankraken is known for his love of looting (as any proper deathskull should be) but he doesn't just limit his looting to shinny bits and gubbins but to tactics and ideas. Not exactly the sharpest klaw on the deffdread, his ability to formulate a plan is lacking and he is often too distracted by loot and krushing gits to think much about battlefield tactics or strategy. Looting other git's plans (particularly Scuzzer's plans) is much easier than mucking about with all the boring gak before the fighting and looting. Tends to call everyone and everything a git. Likes kicking grots, looting, watching squig races, smashing spirit stones, looting, blowing up drop pods, and crashing trukks. Hates Eldar and uppity grots.

Name: Zahariel of the Order
Race: Astartes
Allegiance: The Order
Age: 9,834
Place of Birth: Caliban
Wargear: Warp Claw (custom blade given to him by Lion el'Jonson prior to becoming a Dark Angel. Inscribed with Warp Runes and composed of the tooth of a Calibanite Lion), Pistol of Amadis (retrofitted, rotary-barrelled Bolt Pistol with a high rate-of-fire. Each Bolt used is personally inscribed with Runes by Zahariel himself), Jump Pack, Iron Halo (Sigil of Corruption), Familiar
Bio: Suprisingly long, but definitely not the longest on this thread.
Spoiler:

Zahariel was Luther's second-in-command, a powerful Psyker with mastery over Terrorsight (the ability to all but stop time, and to freely move in and out of the Warp),prior to the destruction of the Dark Angels homeworld of Caliban. It was he who saw to the binding of the Daemon Ouroborus, and it was he who ensured that Luther turned from the Lion. Zahariel saw to the death of Lion el'Jonson, all the while, knowing that it was just; for the Lion had betrayed every oath of Brotherhood and Knighthood he had sworn to the people of Caliban.

Lion el'Jonson, upon discovering of Caliban's so-called "Warp Taint" (now known to be a Daemon imprisoned within the planet itself), he hid it from his so-called Brothers, and condemned them to watch their beloved homeworld die, along with all of the people they had sworn to protect. Such base treachery shocked Zahariel, the idealistic believer, to his very core.

Upon overthrowing the Imperial officials upon Caliban, Zahariel ensured that the single Chapter stationed there multiplied sevenfold, even as Luther delved ever deeper into madness and Chaos. Zahariel took back up the weapons of his boyhood; retrofitting the supernaturally sharp blade the Lion had had forged for him in a bygone age of Brotherhood and Loyalty, as well as the rotary-barrelled Bolt Pistol his former friend and Mentor Amadis had given to him with dying breath. During that time, he learned of the many Warp Runes the infamous Knights of Lupus had once used to defend against, and bind, the Great Beasts (whom the Knightly Orders of Caliban had once fought tooth and nail against for millenia). He inscribed many of these Runes upon his weapons and armour; using them as the ultimate defense against Psychic and physical attacks, as well as making his already formidable weapons even more powerful.

Zahariel despaired as he saw the results of Luther's forays into the arcana of Chaos, for Luther was no longer the honorable Knight of the Past. More and more, he look around with a maddened glint in his eyes that spoke of untold horrors he wished to unleash upon those around him. As Zahariel came to understand the true nature of the monster that dwelled within Caliban, he knew that he was oathbound to destroy it, and everything like it. For, more than fifty years past, Zahariel had made a soul-binding pact with the beings known as the Watchers in the Dark to fight the Ancient Evil, something he now knew to be Chaos, just as their Cabal did. Because of this, Zahariel gathered together his most trusted confidants; brothers he had known since he had been an initiate in the Order. Eliath, Attias, and many more, he told them all the danger of what was happening to their home.

Together, they formed a Hidden Brotherhood, and, upon the arrival of the Dark Angels Fleet from Terra, knew what would be required of them. Zahariel isolated Luther; ensuring that Luther and the Lion would be able to cripple eachother with their Superhuman powers without interference. Zahariel's men weakened the Void Shields of Alduruhl sufficiently for a Teleport Assault. As the final moments of the cataclismic battle were brought to a close, Zahariel saw that all of Caliban was soon to be destroyed. Praying to the very Creature he was sworn to destroy, Zahariel plead for the lives of the people of Caliban; bringing about the strange predicament of the Fallen Angels.

The Chaos Gods cast Zahariel and his fellows throughout time - virtually all of them landing in different locations - yet left Zahariel with the Brothers of his boyhood. At first, Zahariel believed it to be a simple twist of fate that he and Eliath and Attias had landed in the same Time Period and Region (Ixaniad Sector, M31), until the horrible truth became known to him: his Brothers were infected with the Obliterator Virus.

As Zahariel led a Pirate Raid alongside his Brothers to plunder precious Gene-Seed from the Tithe Ships heading to Mars from the Angels of Redemption Fortress-Monastery, he acquired the means to recreate the Order, and uphold the only Oath he could: battle the Primordial Annihilator wherever he could. In the aftermath of the bloody Skirmish, Eliath found himself unable to remove his helm. The Space Marine had not removed his Armour for weeks on end, and his sudden melding with armour and weaponry proved the precursor to Attias's morphing with his steel death-mask and Heavy Bolter. Soon, the two Marines were assimilating Weapons of their choosing; selecting the finest of war instruments to amalgamate with as ever more powerful Machine Spirits were subsumed by the burgeoning Daemons' Souls.

As the Unforgiven struggled to get their hands upon Zahariel, he and his growing force of Astartes were forced to hide within the Warp for ever-increasing amounts of time. Their continued efforts to curb the spread of Chaos caused them to establish Spy Rings across multiple Sectors of the Segmentum Obscurus, and, as they continued to seek refuge within the Immaterium whenever the Unforgiven came to find them, they found many of their Assault Marines were beginning to mutate, and merge with the Lightning Claws they were so prone to using. Eventually, Zahariel was able to teach the Art of entering and exiting the Warp at will to these "Warp Talons"; using it as a means of teleporting into battle and initiating combat without even the barest hint of the fury that was to come.

Millenia passed, the Order of Caliban destroyed countless Chaos Warbands, and saved countless trillions of lives. The Order bitterly fought its shadow-war with Chaos with the very mutations that fueled it.The irony of the Order's existence was never lost on its Grand Master, though; even if the continued mutations would forever be seen as a boon by Zahariel, for they were nought but tools with which to fight Chaos, after all.

Okay then!

- Name : Katerina Lynaris Malinenko

- Race : Human

- Allegiance : Imperium of Man

- Rank : Lord Marshal of the 2nd Concordian Independent Heavy Tank Regiment

-Other Titles : Senator Maximal of Concordia, the White Queen of Provosa

- Age : 54

- Place of birth : Provosa, shrine world in the Anchyche system adjacent to the hive world Concordia, Segmentum Tempestus

- Favourite wargear : On the battlefield, a Stormhammer superheavy command tank with targeters. At command functions or off the battlefield: A bright white flak coat (bearing her medals and rank pins), Officer's refractor field gorget, laspistol, fencing rapier.

- Biography :

Katerina Malinenko was born to Orlov Malinenko, planetary senator of Concordia, and Catherine Lynaris, an Abbess on the nearby shrine world of Provosa. Though she was born on Provosa and spent much of her life there, she was raised in the Concordian noble hierarchy. As a manufactorum world, Concordia's nobility often dined on fine food and drink in ivory spires above the grey smog of a toiling workforce. The aristocrats often had to entertain magi from the Adeptus Mechanicus in addition to the typical hive-world functionaries such as system lords and Ecclesiarchs passing through on their way to Provosa. The Anchyche solar system was rich in anchychium, as it was termed, a rare pure strain of adamantium ore; clearly the Adeptus Mechanicus sought to extend its sphere of influence over the system, and for centuries after liberation a slow-moving, bureaucratic war was fought between the Imperium and the Mechanicus for control of the system.

Eventually, when Katerina was 14 years old, the system was decisively added to Imperial rosters and the tithe was called - the 1st Concordian Regiment (That can actually be seen in my signature if one wishes to see the entire regiment!) was the result. Orlov Malinenko volunteered as regimental commander, leaving his daughter in the hands of Catherine Lynaris on her shrine world. While there, Katerina continued her aristocratic studies including fencing, leadership, scholarship, and theological philosophy. Though a woman, Katerina was her father's only heir, and when she came of age at 18 she was expected to take on his duties.

Her return proved popular with the hivers, and she ran the Protean Hive on Concordia in her father's name with grace and justice; she was a rising star in a dark world. Often seen wearing the white robes of the Provosan shrine community, she quickly became known as the White Queen of Provosa to her underlings in the Protean forges. Within the decade, however, news of her father's death on the battlefields of Thranics-VII shattered Katerina's optimistic worldview. He had fallen when a Traitor unit engaged his command group in a close range ambush with antitank weapons. Though the 1st Concordian soldiered on in the conflict with their new commander, Katerina was personally moved by his death. She began to study what she could of armoured warfare, seeking to understand where her father went wrong, and what could have gone right. A long-negotiated deal with the Forge World of Gavros-IV opened up new manufacturing capabilities for her forge, and the Protean Hive transitioned from producing components for Leman Russ and Chimera tanks to producing the armoured plates for superheavy tanks manufactured on Gavros-IV, exploiting the ease of refining anchychium into adamantium.

Years later, when she was nearly 40, Katerina Malinenko, the White Queen of Provosa, had the opportunity she had been waiting and studying for. Fencing rapier at her hip, white robe of her home planet girding her loins, bearing the golden rod of senatorship within the Concordian planetary government, Katerina Malinenko enlisted as commander of the 2nd Concordian Regiment when the tithe was called in once again. This time, however, she had the might of the Forge World of Gavros-IV behind her, and it was no mere armoured regiment that rolled onto the Departmento Munitorum landers that day, but a superheavy tank regiment. As the massive vehicles idled, their reactors quietly humming, Katerina addressed the newly-enlisted crews. "My father fell in service to the Emperor. I am told he went with a fire in his belly and a prayer on his lips. That is not a fate which will befall us, my friends. We will be the Guard's finest - each of these tanks is more valuable than the hive, even the planet, which we leave behind today. Know that if you die, it is crewing some of the mightiest war engines humanity can produce, and it is not a death in vain. Now, men of the 2nd, get aboard these landers - you all call me the White Queen of Provosa, but my service is to the Emperor and it is His light which I bear in my breast. I am no queen - I am but a servant."

Since that first muster day, 15 years have passed. Her words proved truer than she knew - the 2nd Concordian Independent Heavy Tank Regiment has lost only two vehicles in those 15 years - Tank 13 Dauntless and Tank 22 Indefatigable. Katerina's own tank, Mechanicus Deus, is a Heresy-era Stormhammer, salvaged from the wreckage of the Heresy on the world of Incoladis and repaired to the best of the ability of the regiment's Tech-Priests and specialists from Gavros-IV. Now 54, Katerina's juvenat treatments, afforded by the wealth and nobility of her background, have her looking little older than twenty-seven, and many have underestimated her because of that. But she is a Lord Marshal of the Imperial Guard, always on the council of the Lord Militant with whom she is serving.

Some whisper that it is the strength and prestige of her superheavy tanks that have gotten her there - that she would not be so important or exceptional if she commanded a regiment of infantry or artillery. But those that know her best understand that it is charismatic leadership, a keen mind, and a will harder than the adamant armour of Mechanicus Deus.

Sioux Falls, SD

Name: Alejandro Vicente

Race: Astartes (Post-Human)

Allegiance: Imperium of Man

Rank: Crimson Fists 3rd Company Captain

Place of Birth: Blackwater

Age: Over 200 years

Wargear: Mark VII Artificer Armor, Custom Bolt Pistol with scope. Enters battle in two different set-ups based on situation. Set-up #1 - Relic Blade, Storm Shield. Set-up #2 - Power Fist

Biography: Prior to the Battle of Rynn's World, Captain Vicente was the Veteran Sergeant of the Crimson Fists 3rd Company's Command Squad, serving under Captain Ashor Drakken. During the attack on Badlanding, Captain Drakken elected to leave his Command Squad on the attack cruiser. The attack was a disaster, and the majority of the 84 Space Marines perished in the Ork sneak attack. Sergeant Vicente oversaw the emergency evacuation of the troops on the planet below, and was dismayed by the fact that, in addition to the five members of the Command Squad, fewer than twenty Space Marines of the 3rd Company arrived on the returning Thunderhawks. Taking command of the meager troops that remained, Sergeant Vicente returned to Rynn's World. Upon arrival, Vicente was placed under the command of Alvez of the 2nd Company as there was no time to elect a new Captain of the 3rd Company. Sergeant Vicente sought revenge for the loss of his Captain, but instead was relegated to garrison duty of New Rynn City. Fortunately for Vicente and the remnants of 3rd Company, they were far away when the Chapter Monastery was destroyed by an errant missile. Garrison duty proved to be more exciting than Vicente expected as the greenskins had shifted their focus to the city after the Monastery's destruction. Dozens of greenskins fell to his blade and bolt pistol. During the battle where Captain Alvez perished, Sergeant Vicente was nearly crushed by an Ork Killa Kan, but was pushed out of the way by 3rd Company Champion, Julio Alvarez. Alvarez survived his heroic sacrifice, though he would never do battle on his own again. At Alvarez's behest, the injured Champion was rapidly installed into a Dreadnought chassis that had been on display in a museum located in the city. When Captain Alvez fell, Sergeant Vicente was among the highest ranking Space Marines left in the garrison, though with the timely arrival of Pedro Kantor and Captain Cortez, the issue of command never arose. Sergeant Vicente participated in the attempt to repel the Ork gargant while Pedro Kantor attempted to reactivate the communications array. The defenders of the city were fighting a losing battle against the gargant, when the Dreadnought activated and joined the battle. The Marines rallied around the mighty warrior. Fighting alongside his friend Julio once more, the combined might of the remaining Space Marines were able to topple the gargant. Unable to stand, the gargant was easy prey for Julio's power fist. Soon, communications were restored, and the greenskins were repelled from the city.

Following the Battle for Rynn's World, Sergeant Vicente was elevated to the rank of Captain of the 3rd Company. The company has been rebuilding, though the company only has three full squads of Tactical Marines, and only five Assault and Devastator Marines. The seat of Company Champion remains unfilled, as Captain Vicente refuses to fill the position as Brother Julio still fights on. The 3rd Company has deployed several times in the interim, mostly to battle greenskins on nearby worlds, though other campaigns included quashing a rebellion alongside the Dark Angels against renegade Imperial Guard. Unbeknownst to Captain Vicente, the rebellion was perpetrated by a Fallen Angel. Should he cross paths with the Dark Angels again, he may well be a target in their quest to keep their betrayal a secret.

Name: Geergutz the tah killa, mekboss of the Geer ‘Eads
Race: “da best an greenest dehr iz”
Allegiance: “if I hit it with my blasta then its da enemy, if I miss den dey is one uhv us”
Place of birth: “don’t kare, aint nuthin dehr to loot anymore”
Age: “dats enough queshuns, get bak ta work ya git”
Wargear: either in mega armour, or on a bike with the shock attack gun (always carries da thinkin kap)
Bio: geergutz was a minor mek within a deffskull clan on the fringe of the tau empire. Every day was a fight against tau extermination squads or the parade of showboating meks trying to gloat their latest “invenshuns” which almost always ended in a pit fight. Deathskull clans flocked to the local red planet. This planet held no real resources, tactical advantage or even good loot, but what made every superstitious ork in the sector excited was the colors of the local tau, a brilliant pattern of lucky deep blue, a truly valuable resource.
During a tau raid a young mek trying to show off his latest kustum mega blasta ended with the yoof blowing his own arm off, an easy target for a tau battlsuit to disembowel the greenskin with a burst of fusion. The crisis suit in turn was laid low by the local painboy. Ever obsessed over new opportunities for evasive cybork sergury, doc bludback (so known for his own cybork spine made from the crimson shell of a stealth suit) took the unconscious yoof under his care.
After several hours of bloody, bone wrenching experimentation the mek awoke to find the majority of his body replaced by the chasis of the very same tau battlesuit that nearly claimed his short life. Since that day he was dubbed the name “Geergutz.” Geergutz showed an almost obsessive nature with looting tau tech, this coupled with a new aggressive vision of leading a waaagh of lootin, coerced into the annihilation of the tau on the little red planet (geergutz’s own personal battle goup earned the title of “tah killaz”). Soon all available scrap was dedicated to getting his budding waaagh off world.
The next stop was vogen, an imperial water world about to be the target of several factions of xeno and traitor alike. The ensuing battle royal was concentrated on the only landmass of vogen, making every foot of soil litterd with boot print, wreckage and corruption. Here geergutz’s waaagh swelled with the constant promise of battle. Eventually the entrenched imperial guard were able to hold out till the aid of the spacemarines ensured an imperial victory. Geergutz soon abandoned this world he had grown to to loath. Despite a setback in his waaagh, geergutz plans to embark upon a campaign of raids on loot rich worlds with the aid of the local fleet of freebooterz.
Geergutz sees the only true strength of the orks is in the development of better walkers and cybork advancements. His waaagh is a magnet for any mek or painboy often found too eccentric for their own good. The result is a fully mechanized battleforce that encourages constant experimentation and competition. “Da mek hive,” the current homebase for his waaagh, is an ultimate congregation of forge complexes and mek shops. The center of the hive is geergutz’s personal workshop surrounded by his “kustom dread pits”. These enlarged fight pits are where all meks and painboyz go to test their latest inventions and hackjobs. The result is only the best, strongest, dakka’est, and most advanced tech joins geergutz’s raiding parties.
The mekboss geergutz can often be found at the rear lines of a battle. With his newest cybork body (made from a broadside battlesuit) and a trusty shock attack gun (cobbled together from shield drones and a strange chaos artifact that seeps crimson energy), geergutz is more than willing to watch his adversary be blown apart on their march towards his vanguard, while his extra klaw arms twitch in anticipation for the enemies’ inevitable outflank maneuvers.
Geergutz’s future vision of his waaagh is a massive dreddmob, planet engulfing in its numbers, sweeping across the sector in a tide of stomping, kromping and of course looting.

Hope this thread will encourage players to develop/complete their commander's fluff. It is very inspirational to me in any case:

I'd try to finish my colonel's biography :
After being appointed second-in-command of the 506th, he took part of three minor campaign on the Halo Stars borders and other sectors of the Ultima Segmentum, against Renegade Marines, Traitor guard and Eldar Corsairs. He performed quite well under his Captain and his reputation was steadily growing among the high command and the shadowy Inquisition. The 506th displayed many qualities highly valuated by the Holy Institution, so well that secondary agents closely tied to Rhayé began to watch closely for the evolution of the unit.
When Vassiliev was killed by a Prism cannon shot in the last of the three aforementioned operations, Rykovski naturally took the lead of the 506th. This was the true beginning of his ascension to his current rank. In 993.M41, the freshly chosen Captain started in his function with an important deployment on Ichar IV. Given the reputation of the RSD among the Inquisitorial council which was in charge of the black operations in the Halo Stars, Inquisitor Andar, member of one of the most influential chambers of the Ultima Segmentum, marshalled three Rhayian divisions into the XXXI° Rhayian Army Group to crush a strange uprising on this densely populated hive world. The 22nd "Vympel", at the time under Colonel Yulia Savrinika, took part of the operations and fought side by side with the Ultramarines and other regular IG regiments. After a bloody victory against what has revealed to be a Genestealer cult, Imperial Forces were quickly engulfed in the terrible Second Tyrannic War. Rykovski and his unit fought desperately against a superior foe while being forced to adapt to defensive urban warfare. After a year of battle and many sacrifices, the army group was all but wiped out and the streets of Ichar were covered of Rhayian bodies. But the planet was free.

Rykovski received two imperial decorations for his merciless defense of the Hive Cerberi and the counterattack he led in the last weeks of the campaign. He had acquired a wide knowledge of the Xenos Tyranids and was thus sent in emergency to Rhayé to form and train newly requisitioned RSD units. Other Tyranids splinter fleets were advancing towards the Sirius Sector and the 22nd "Vympel" was badly needed to lead the defence of Rhayé.
As soon as he and his soldiers arrived, Rykovski made the Division deserve its nickname of Vympel - vampire in Rhayian - more than ever because all the know-how he learnt by killing Tyranids was quickly shared by other RSD forces in order to enhance their effectiveness against the hatred Xenos. This was not a useless investment since a few months later, the Hive Fleet Kraken attacked the Sirius Sector.

Name: High King Ualan (and II)
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Wargear: Knight Castigator / Warden (Throne Mechanicum refitted in M36)
Age: The First: 121 / The Second: 82

Knight House Salus
Official Station: Planet Lachesis (Unfit for Habitation)
Temporary Station: The Sin of Dignity (Refitted Colonization Starship)

Lachesis was a utopian planet, far from the reaches of xenos and chaos, in the left corner of the galaxy.
It was, in fact, a popular vacation spot for many of the upper class of governor, military official and nobles.
House Salus was the sole Knight House of the small planet, and apart from the standard politicking of nobles, peace was maintained with the House supported by the nearby Forge World Scaevola.

30K: High King Ualan "The Forlorn"
Spoiler:
High King Ualan was noble and loving, with many supporters both on and off of his home planet, and none could doubt his skill as a warrior and tactician.
During the Heresy, the two planets were out of the way and mostly untouched by the carnage and chaos of war, and the Knights of House Salus often left the planet with the Mechanicum or on pilgrimage to test their skills and find glory.
Towards the end of the war, a weapons test on Forge World Scaevola went awry, and the planet began to emit intense radiation.
The inhabitants of the Forge World were killed nearly instantly, but both House Salus their home were not quite as lucky.
Over years, the land was poisoned and fruitless, water became toxic and burn to drink, the air painful, and the people would grow tumors as quickly as fingernails.
Both modern and artifact technology could not stop the rotting.
With a heavy heart the High King gathered the most essential and healthy of his remaining people and fled on his ship, The Sin of Dignity

40K: High King Ualan II "The Empty"
Spoiler:
The Sin of Dignity is always traversing the galaxy in search of it's next battle.
Ruling from his ship, High King Ualan II is known as The Empty King.
He rarely shows emotion, the few known instances were always remembered of venom and anger.
He treats nobles and peasants alike, to much of his people's ire, and only his fellow knights are shown even the smallest sign of respect.
Some say it is Ualan's Knight, passed from king to king and contains the loss and suffering of all it's previous owners, that has caused him such state.
But Ualan's heart darkens each day because he knows the truth.
He would be the last king of House Salus.
These were the end of days.

Name: Otto Weston
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Wargear: Power Axe, Plasma Pistol, Carapace Armour, Camo Cloak, Deathmask of Ollanius Pius.
Age: 21

Origins:
Born in a polluted under-hive on Gryphonne VI, Otto chose to join the Guard at the age of 16.

Motivations:

Whilst initially he simply desired glory and the immortality of fame, he has since been tempered by the loss of his home planet, Gryphonne VI, and extensive battlefield experience. Now he is motivated by his sense of duty and honour, to both the Imperium and the men under his command. Leading by example Otto prefers to inspire rather than intimidate his men but will brutally punish those who bring dishonour to the regiment or fail in their sworn duties.

Company Commander Promotion:
Having been one of the most senior surviving officers of Knarr, a Campaign where the Lone Gryphonnes (last surviving regiment from Gryphonne VI) suffered over 112 million casualties without even being recorded in history (the victory has forever been claimed by the Dark Hunters chapter), Otto was promoted to Commander of the 10th Company.

Notable 10th Company Campaigns:

Chbal, A Traitorous Stormlord:

The 10th Company was sent to Chbal to defend the Cities against a marauding Stormlord belonging to a regiment of the Lost and the Damned. After a brutally short Campaign in which many losses were incurred, the Stormlord fell, having slain a large percentage of the 10th Company and even incapacitating Commander Otto himself. The traitors swiftly fled after that major defeat.
Casualty Rate: 46% Average.

Ryza, The Question of Loyalty (ongoing):
Having landed on Ryza to assist against the greenskins, the 10th Company were immediately set upon by a force of Astartes and Guardsmen. The Ryzan Forces believed the Lone Gryphonne 10th Company to be some form of Chaos Trick - for it was common knowledge that the Gryphonne System had been entirely consumed by the Tyranids. The 10th Company has been forced to defend itself and has successfully held onto its beach-head and avoided annihilation for the time being.
They hope to hold on long enough to receive proof from the Adeptus Ministorum of their existence and loyalty to the Emperor.
Current Casualty Rate: 57.5% Average.

Battlefield Distinctions:
Duellist Honours -
In the 2nd battle on Ryza, Commander Otto personally slew a Chapter Master by himself in close quarters combat and was wounded in return.

Quote:
Spoiler:
“I have a duty to serve the Emperor, the Imperium and humanity as a whole. To fail that duty is to belie my own existence as a soldier and as a man.
I also have a duty to the men under my command. They entrust the value of their lives to me, and I must choose where best to spend them. To fail that duty is to dishonour them, the Imperium and the Emperor.

Today I find my duties at odds with one another. To best serve the Imperium I must lay down my arms, surrender my company for execution and suffer the erasure of their memories and accomplishments from history. To best serve the men and women under my command I must kill loyalists both Guardsmen and Astartes alike and cause the possibly irrevocable destruction of valuable Imperial property. When faced with such a choice, what decision would or should a man make?

I choose to follow the example of one of the best guardsmen to have ever carried a lasgun; the tried and true Ollanius Pius. I choose to follow my heart no matter what my head tells me. I choose to fight with every breath I have left rather than yield with a whimper. I choose to give my life for what I believe in.

I choose my soldiers.”
- Otto before the 2nd Battle on Ryza
