Intriguing!

I wonder what kind of online setup they will create for both recording results, and what way they will have of authenticating results submitted by players? Will there be another 'Triad'? (Those who remember GW's event in years past will grin about that one )

They explained this on a backstage video about the campaign system.

They are using a weighted system, when you put reports in for battles they can be rated by other players and there's some internal weighting as well.

The idea is that battle reports with pictures and detailed explanations will be weighted much higher than a simple 'Aleph fought Combined, Aleph won' to try and solve the fake report issues.

They are also going to monitor how many reports are posted by users in small timeframes as well.

They did say that some prizes and things will be awarded based on the quality of battle reports too to try and encourage the genuine reports as well, though what that means in practice wasnt clear.

No system is going to be completely free of the fake stuff, but when they explained it I did think it was a good attempt at addressing the issues of campaigns, whether its enough I guess we are about to see.

@Pacific- The link Alpharius gave www.flamestrike.warconsole.com has all that. Labelled as a Beta though.

I'm suspecting that this all-out conflict will be the reasoning that the O-12 will involve themselves as a new faction. They have a command post nearby that isn't doing anything.

At the end, whoever wins will get the territory written into the fluff somehow, then the O-12 will step in and say "get guys, stop fighting, we're at DEFCON Infinity and we have out Peacekeeping Corps to make sure you stop fighting."

That makes sense to me Absolutionis, but that would make more sense if they had the 0-12 Sectorial / Faction / Units ready for the release directly after and I don't think there is enough time for that with the current time scale.

Still could be something that happens in a second follow up group campaign for perfect dove-tailing?

Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

I am fairly new to Infinity but as I understand it Bostria, is one of the creators of the game right?

Yes. He works on the graphic design side of things.

Bostria joined the company relatively early, but a few years after Infinity got started.

The original creators are Alberto Abal Couceiro (Bran Do Castro), Fernando Liste Azpeitia, Gutier Lusquiños Rodríguez (Interruptor) and Carlos Torres Rodríguez.

The N3 rulebook has a list of the creators, and the roles of others at CB too. Bostria will be listed as Carlos Llauger Lorenzo.

The is a thread on the Data Sphere forum where one of the original playtesters ( Yasbir, after whom the Dire Foes mini is named) tells some stories about CB's history, here, for the interested.

Well, that and he's effectively the spokesman and representative of the company in recent years.

Interesting, thanks for posting mate.

Very tempted to play as Tohaa, which I think will kind of take the role that the Eldar held in the old GW Abaddon Crusade event (sorry to keep bringing that up! )

Nomads/Pano the most popular and Tohaa are the least popular by a distance.

I like how they are doing this.

While I like the visual aesthetics of both PanO and Nomads, I wonder how much effect having them be in the starter has on the numbers. If they, for instance, make a Yu Jing vs Ariadna starter, would those shoot close to the top?

PanOceania and Nomads were popular factions before Icestorm. Nomads, however, have really taken of after icestorm release and N3. It would not surprise me to learn, that Nomads are currently the most popular faction.

I'd definitely say PanO were very popular from a lurker's perspective seeing what folks talked about but the Nomads really took off with the starter with the new sculpts (esp the Mobile Brigata) as well as the Geckos that came out iirc shortly prior. My bias might be showing though as I really like both their new look and models where as previously I didn't like the faction's look.

The redesign of the Nomads brought me into their camp as well. However, I think Haqq has appealed to me the most, visually. Thus, I am disappointed that they are only slightly higher than Tohaa in terms of popularity in this event. I suspect that the popularity of PanO and Nomads may have to do with both factions having a lot of TAGs available to them. All of the popular factions have multiple TAGs available to them, but the bottom two factions only get one each.

No one in my meta picked his faction because of higher AVA on TAG. Nomads are usually picked for having the best specialists (hackers), camouflage (intruders, spektr), or anarchistic/underground portrayal in the background.

I can vouch for that as I was drawn to both for the TAGs (for the look of the newish Nomad TAGs and the variety and utility but not the old sculpts though of the PanO ones). While I understand the need to clamp down on rambo'ing (my first introduction to Infinity was a ex-player/store employee trying to convince me NOT to get into Infinity because of rambo'ing), the lack of them in play (at least online on youtube) due to the ITC rules put a damper on that. The current Nomad and new/upcoming PanO TAGs still look damn cool though regardless.

Everyone builds their army for different reasons. Some build only what they visually like and rules be damned! whereas others go off of the stats and don't care about the overall look... and likely the biggest portion use a mix of both plus other reasons (like what is available locally on the shelf for instance) to varying degrees. There luckily is no right way to do it.

This campaign is looking like a lot of fun, will be good tying the character of some of it into regular games nights.

I've started a thread down in the Infinity sub-section if anyone would like to post their results and talk about it there

Apparently a March release, the alternates from the RPG. I have no idea why the Yu Jing and Ariadna HVTs are not shown. I figured these things would be sold under the Bootleg label.

And other rumored releases for the month
Kanren - yu jing
Umbra Samaritan - CA

Plus of course the pre-order for Human Sphere.

You guys do know that the Samaritans were not so nice, supposedly. We have the story of the Good Samaritan only because said Samaritan was very much the exception. I expect this Umbra to be more of the 'typical' Samaritan.

Also, apologies for the huge image in my previous post. And I have no idea to whom to credit for it.

You sure it wasn't Umbra Sarmatian instead?

Given the Sarmatians were reputedly descendants of Amazons with fierce warrior women amongst their combatants, living around the eastern shores of the Black Sea at the time of the Roman Empire (and hence where I get the possible name link, Legate being a Roman rank), could this be a female Umbra?
