Seems like a cheaper alternative to the oniwaban if you're looking for a unit to get in close with monofilament CCW or boarding shotty.
I don't have much experience using Holoprojector, but anything that lets you bluff like that can be super useful.
Interested to see what "killer hacking device" entails

It'll be nice to get a model with a holoprojector that can actually get some spacing between the echoes. At the moment, there's only the Remote on a 55mm base, and the three echoes have to be in base contact.

As an aside, I'd be tempted to just buy three of this miniature, rather than using the two echo counters. I find that visually disappointing (to the extent that I photoshopped up a "3" counter to use with the Remote rather than using the miniature as one of the echoes )

I love this model. It's incredible.

Angel has pictures up on FB if anyone not at work wants to pull them over.

Awesome model. Nice to see something that would appear legitimately and utterly alien on the Infinity battlefield.

Cool poses are back! Well, at least for this version of Darth Nasty. The EI sectorial (minis anyways) is shaping up very well indeed. Very menacing. Good stuff.

My only worry would be how well it is balanced on the base. I foresee the use of counterweights in the future for many an EI player...

Are you on a phone?

You're on a phone, aren't you?

And yes, it is awesome.

And so is Angel's painting, as always!

Yeah You'd need to weigh down the base big time.
What is the silhouette on that? It'll be difficult fitting that floating monster in any tight spots

Is that a natural 21?

I don't think it's as bad as...metal jump pack marines for instance. There's a fair bit of mass on those lower tendrils.

Do we have stats on this?

I'd assume it's got super jump or AD.
Any idea what gun he's carrying? A flamethrower perhaps?

25mm base so S2; it's quite a lot bigger (someone did a comparison on the official forum, it's about double the height of the S2 marker). However, that is the whole point of the silhouette system, and we've had quite a long run of mostly mundane poses, it's nice to see something properly dynamic.

Silly question, but how is the Umbra supposed to be hovering like that? It seems very psychic powers, and I wasn't aware there were such things canonically in the Infinity universe (or perhaps I'm simply not up on my reading...).

He might just be leaping rather than actually floating.

Could be representing him emerging from TO camo.

Damn, that's gorgeous. I've been very tempted to start a new "alien" faction, and this may have pushed me over the edge.

I wonder if it represents TO Camo instead of a movement power, blending into the shadows. But I'd like to think he was teleporting like Nightcrawler from the second Xmen movie.

Perhaps the HS book will add a new ability.

Edit: damn, ninja'd by 'trees.

I like the TO idea, have him in a "smart cloak" that replicates the environment (nope, not an Umbra, just a little bush here) until he is ready to leap out and spring death on someone (haha, I was lying, I was an Umbra all along!)

But give it a couple of days and somewhere along the rampant speculating we will see a profile and it will become a little bit clearer.

Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

One of the things that really surprised me about Infinity was the lack of movement abilities like flight, jump packs or teleporting. "Superleap" is the closest they come to an ability .

That's not a complaint, and neither do I think the game needs it. But I'm always needing to remind myself that my Tigers have a special deployment ability, not a movement ability like jump packs a la 40k.

Someone posted this on 4chan, and I agree that it's really weird to be a S2 model.
I wonder if Aleph Hoplites and CA Umbra will be getting their own silhouettes anytime.

I'm wondering if that 25mm base has been stuck down to the display plinth to make it stable enough to take the photos...

Given the height and probable balance issues of the thing, maybe just making it S5 would solve the problem. Obviously, creating a couple of other issues in the process, mind you.

Amazing miniature and paint job, nonetheless!

Nah, it isn't that weird. When they introduced the Silhouette system, they said they wanted people to have a bit more freedom in how they displayed their figures and allow their sculptors a bit more freedom in how they portray the figures. I think I would've put him on a 30-40mm base though.

Probably because all those posts where made when the other Umbras came out.
Other than the dynamic pose making this one stick out more, it seems to be roughly the same size as the others.

I'm sorry but I don't follow that logic. General releases, especially newer HI models, are starting to go well over the S2 size and now this model is being released and he's not even close to the S2 scale, not even if the silhuettes should represent "a general aproximation" of the models size.

Is the actual mini, the Umbra part, not the flowing tactical rock equivalent part, the same size as the starter box Umbra? If yes, then what scale creep? Look at the Ragik Hacker and how elevated that thing is. ( Ridiculous looking too, IMHO, reminds of those home made stilts kids make from tin cans...)

Previews for the HVTs next? Or the announcement we've all been waiting for?

have we seen the most recent sniper shot here?

Looks like the head of the Yu Jing HVT to me.

It's been dubbed the "tactical cabbage" by the official forums.

I like that term, personally.

Umbra Samaritan looks good barring the Tactical Cabbage and silhouette shenanigans. There will be situations where you can see the entirety of the model but because of silhouettes you can't actually hit them--you put the silhouette down to match where the base is, not the model.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, even better? The rumors about the Samaritan are from the same source as the Locust--so it looks more and more like I get my badass NCA assassins!

All two of them? I'd wish their AVA would be higher, following the same thought, I hope shotgun configuration will be the first profile released. Along with drop bear miniatures. They already have moulds for them, I'd buy two of them simply to have them for Bolts as well.

Bolts are gorgeous models, and I'll eFight anyone who says otherwise!

We don't know whether that AVA listed was for them in NCA or in Vanilla. But I really hope we get the Marksman Rifle variant first.

Oh, I meant having enough drop bears for Bolt loadout too.
