Basing the price of something mostly around the rules rather than quality and quantity of models and the cost of manufactre/distribution is an ass-backwards way of doing things.

I...oh, wow. My first thought was that yes, this was yet another victim of the random transport to Australia.

Gotta love GW's idea of a low price-point skirmish game - where you buy hardbound background update books every couple months and cough up eight bucks a dwarf.

I know all of GW's release for AOS have been massively overestimated price wise, but this is even more extreme than usual.

The price there is really bumped up by the Auric Runemaster who is £18. I remember feeling Grimm Burlokkson was pretty over priced at £13 when I bought him the other day - guess I get it too good with my Vampire Counts heroes that are £9 each.

well, I bought a box of the Vulkite Bezerkers - I can live with £35 for 10 models (Witch Elf pricing I guess). But I don't buy massive amounts of miniatures like some people do.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I wonder how well can these mix with avatars of war ones, that would be a great modelling project that I would have fun with.
Not only it would bulk up the numbers but it would look bad ass.

Price is steep yes but with that set you would only need to add 1 lizard to call it a day for AoS? I mean your not going to want more than that right?

Next to the previous version of dwarves, these guys are a head height taller and a fair bit more bulky.

Like as if the scale has changed somewhat.

Still though, nice looking models and the price is on par with current stuff.

I may be biased though as I'm used to paying £80 - £100 for 10 of the Diaz daemonettes lol.

How else did anyone thing GW can make money off AoS. The rules are free, the game uses smaller armies than WFHB. Simple maths shows us that the books and models have to be a more expensive, and they are.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I remember a few whole units in late 8th ed getting 5++ ward saves for crap like being fast (witch elves come to mind), but has this trend gotten worse with AoS?

Does anyone know exactly when ward saves became a mundane thing?

We should all organize a protest meeting in front of warhammer world. We should demand that GW comes up with a way to implement equal opportunities for people around the globe to be able to exercise their constitutional right of being able to pay Warhammer. Failing to do that they should suffer the appropriate governmental punishment for monopolizing an essential commodity. Bring down the cartel!

I don't consider $8 a model very expensive at all, but the issue is I'd never pay $8 a model for those models.

Witch elves only got a 5++ if the cauldron of blood was in the unit.

Rules shouldn't affect the price, but look at Sigismund's price/rules compared to the other non-primarch character models...

Not feeling these models at all. The paint job on the site doesn't seem to be to a very good standard.

I find it wonderful that i can log on to dakka and still see people defending GW's pricing. The company is on a downward spiral to bankruptcy. Lost revenue due to horrible rules and arbitrary price hikes? Hike the price some more and come out with more horrible rules. Eventually they will over fish the whales and then...... Age of The Emperor 40k (3 space marines for 50 USD...coming 2017).

I have a feeling they would look much better if painted to a good standard, not GW's current box art standard. I wasn't the most impressed by the marauders that came in the starter set for AoS when I saw them, but painting them myself I found the anatomy and the musculature really good and fun to paint. Sadly with the price of these dwarves I'm just not willing to get one to try.

I figured they'd want to price the game as to attract a lot of new customers. The pricing on all of the AOS stuff (bar the good deal on the starter) seems incredibly high even compared to 40k. I don't know how they'll be able to bring people in on the new models; it seems like only the old models being sold at discount would attract people.

That, and I don't understand the marketing plan. The game is marketed in part to a younger audience, but how would children (even with hefty allowances) be able to purchase these models? I can't even imagine parents being convinced to pick these dwarves up.

Yes, it's something that confuses me too - in fact the rising prices on new kits only makes the older WHFB ranges seem increasingly better value lol - only £15 for 10 Empire State troops? Bargain!

As someone who collects mostly the old WHFB ranges it makes me happy they'll stay the same price, but the price discrepancy between the new kits and the old just gets bigger and bigger.

Still the 'Start Collecting' boxes are a great idea and solve most of these issues in my eyes. They need them for all the armies.

Yes I was attracted to AoS, but haven't really bought anything because the prices are too high for me. I am not sure who AoS is aimed for at all. I know it's not me.
