I have heard from a reliable source that it is a true 3rd edition, with a considerable amount of streamlining.

I absolutely love the way Batman plays and to be honest it is probably my fav skirmish style game to play. I didn't realize how hard it is to teach new players though until I brought it up to the cabin for vacation and I tried to teach it to a friend and their kid. I put me and my step son on opposite teams and one of them with each of us since we are experienced players but it was honestly not easy at all. I do hope with streamlining it will make it easier for new players to be able to learn/ pick up but at the same time i really hope it doesn't take too much from the game play and strategy aspect of it. It gets concerning as looking at other games I play when they go to a new edition sometimes it can be completely destructive. ***cough*** 40k sixth edition ***cough***

Looks like they'll be making announcements between Oct 4th and 14th according to their IG

EDIT: As I look more and more into stuff I want, I'm getting seriously annoyed at the amount of DCUMG packs that I WANT to buy that don't include the BMG cards for those characters that have the rules. Sure I could DL the cards from the website but the website is hit or miss about having the backs of said cards.

LexCorp, JLD, are Crime Syndicate are all super good deals because at least 2 models (some cases more) per pack have BMG rules and are models I want, but without the BMG cards I'd never pull the trigger.

Hopefully these announcements will address the lack of proper crossover with these packs.

Couple things.

Red Hood Joker and Hagrid on Bike are the exclusives for the 10th Anniversary sale so far.

The majority of the website is at least 33% off with some items being 50% off. HOWEVER, if yer in the US shipping is gonna kill you, effectively wiping out whatever savings you might actually make.

Killing the Book of Magic pretty much confirms the 3rd edition rumours, in my view.

3rd ed is definitely happening. It's more streamlined.

WOW. So much stuff I wanted to get added 12 items to the cart so far and shipping is at $85 which is 1/3 the cost of everything I want.

Unless they do something like discounted shipping or free shipping on this sale there is no point in the USA to order.

So looks like a very sad but hard pass for me.

Every item added almost adds its cost or half it's cost to the shipping per item.?

Just another European company taking advantange the USA, sounds like another European company i know. Except they do it thru a rediculous exchange rate and dictatorship over all vendors they supply to in europe. Hail GW.

that's just the reality of international shipping,

just like almost every miniature market or FFG sale even with stuff at 70% off the shipping from the USA to Europe means its rarely worth doing

unfortunate yes but hardly a conspiricy

Thanks for the heads up on the sale, going to pick up a lot of stuff I've had my eye on for a while. Mainly want them for display, but maybe also to have a stab at the DCUMG at some point.

To that end, how many minis makes a decent team these days? I'm getting the JL and the Titans box so I should be good for heroes (I think most of the Titans have multiverse cards available?) but for the villains all that's on my list at present in Darkseid and the Rebirth Legion of Doom box. Would those (plus some BMG tagalaongs like Deathstroke, Harley or Deadshot) make a decent sized roster to pick from?

See if they'd coincided multiverse cards with that sale, I'd be interested...

I'd quite happily buy the Titans and Doom Patrol. And some others too, but...

Not to mention the combining the rereleases with new models.

*Sigh*

It kinda comes back to KM making decisions to just frustrate their customers.

Is the DCUMG pdf on their downloads page the current one, or the first edition? Or did they update it with the new one?

I picked up the Joker set. I did consider getting more but I've not played the game in a couple of years so it seemed unwise to impulse buy everything I could possibly want.

Incidentally what's happened to their model range? It seems a lot smaller than it used to be. Many of the models I was planning on getting but didn't due to lack of interest at club are gone.

Titans are really lacking in DCU cards. Enormously frustrating.

DCU_Final_D is first edition rules.

Knight seems to be collapsing a lot of their ranges into single larger boxes. Even so, though, a lot of their old metal models were discontinued some time ago. But you can find them still on some independent stores.

However beware that those discontinued models are also likely not legal for standard tournament play if that matters to you.

I have long disliked the way Knight Models has worked as a business, but have almost always appreciated their work as modelers. It's a difficult position to be in as a gamer. I find it very hard to support their business, but I really enjoy the models.

Everything about this current sale is an example. Exclusive miniatures (that are not always exclusive). I sale with no clearly defined start or end date. The shipping costs, again, with no clearly written explanation.

(By the way, if anyone wants to get in a combined order, I am really looking at that as my only possible means--its probably even cheaper to ship to the UK and then the US than it is to ship directly from KM.)

I wish them well as a business, but I just wish they would get a decent PR person to work on their image a bit.

Do KM generally update/email when they dispatch? My order's been sitting at 'Payment Accepted' since Saturday, would have expected a dispatch notice since then but then again, this is KM!: Could be they're just slow getting stuff out with the sale, but I figured it was worth checking.

It's very hit or miss, but given the big sale and the fact they're borderline making things to order, I'd expect things to be slow....

Majority of the sale items went back up to full price on Monday which was disappointing as I was holding off until later in the week in case they had more announcements as I had expected the sale to last the full period.

My stuff arrived today, no advanced warning. I've checked my stuff and everything is there and in good quality. I did get some duplicate parts so hopefully someone else isn't missing what I got.

So it looks like Joker Red Hood is using the new 3rd edition rules and does NOT come with a standard 2ND Ed card.

Some interesting notes from someone who playtested 3rd (supposedly)

No more action allocation based on Willpower, Willpower and Endurance are now just life stats with specific tests to each.
Raise the Plan stage grants 4 Audacity tokens to spread across your forces. Characters can Move, Attack, or Manipulate but if it has an Audacity token it can do two things and take a special action.
Attack and Defense stats = how many dice you roll for those abilities.
"Stun damage now goes to willpower, blood damage goes to endurance. So some models stick around a lot more now"
Objectives are now a randomized deck of cards, exclusive cards come with batboxes.
Something akin to Malifaux's scheme markers are now in BMG with models being able to affect those markers

Should be interesting if some or all of this turns out to be true and how much more streamlined the process for playing the game is.

Red Hood card is out there but I won't post it here.

Huh, honestly that sounds kind of awful..

For me, the resource allocation was the big draw of BMG's tactical side, and having characters that could do a lot of different things but not everything, every round was a defining feature of the ruleset. Switching that to essentially a Move/Action/Bonus Action system strikes me as far more generic, so I think flavour will be lost even if the game is somewhat streamlined. It'll play faster, but the Raise The Plan phase goes from the most important to now basically perfunctory.

I do hate to rant about stuff like this, especially based on rumour, but I do think I'll be sticking with 2nd if these changes pan out. 1st to 2nd was a major improvement, but this seems at least to be streamlining the game by ditching what actually made it different and interesting, and I'm not really seeing an upside. It sounds almost like a quick-start version of the game rather than the actual thing. Wait and see, I guess, but I'm not hopeful.

I'm unsure. It's definitely less unique, but the game was also pretty slow and really struggled to make the heroes feel heroic. It was so reliant on cheap henchmen that could stand on a static point that it was just never really taking... well, Batman.

I think what will make or break the new edition for me is how they translate the playstyles of crews. 2nd edition in particular had done a great job of giving crews their own game to play as the unique objectives kicked in. If they can keep that feel, I'll probably be a lot more interested.

Where ever the Emperor needs his eyes

Today from Knight Models, we have a few new things for the DCU.

First up, its Superboy and Steel, so you can finish out your Reign of Superman collection.

Next up, its the Suicide Squad featuring a bunch of models that a bunch of people (not me) already have. Deadshot Classic, Killer Frost, Killer Croc, Katana (the bad sculpt) Bronze Tiger and Deathstroke. Wait, that Deathstroke is new and fething SWEET. Honestly all these characters were on my to buy list anyway and each of them have their BMG cards online, so I will have to probably buy a Second Deathstroke when he's re-released for BMG (which I fine with me, I love Deathstroke).

And finally, we have a new Wonder Woman, and hot damn does she look great. She'd got that big base like the Dark Knight and the Boy Scout's newest versions too.

Lotta people complaining about the Suicide Squad box for DCU, but given that I don't own ANY of those figures, that'll probably be my next buy because HOT DAMN that Deathstroke is sexy.

I think KM might be moving more toward boxsets rather than blisters and I'm ok with that. Might have SOME overlap, but for newer players these boxsets are amazing.

Its a fair enough complaint if people already have them, but as you said, for new players or even vets that dont. Its a steal.

ANd yeah, that Deathstroke

I don’t like WW’s giant base for gameplay, but she sure is a super sweet model for display.

For sure, it's a valid complaint, I just happen to benefit from it

Looking forward to picking up a bunch more models to paint

Big fan of that Wonder Woman, though yeah, the base is a bit much (Aquaman's was oversized enough ).

Steel is just awesome, not such a fan of that version of Superboy (would have preferred something closer to the Young Justice look) but it's nice to have the full Reign of the Supermen cast out.

The WW just finishes the huge based trinity to go along with the new Supes and last year's Multiverse Batman release.
