Nah, that's totally a smoking jacket. The Heff for the win.

The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.

That's pushing it.

Its not like there's a model to represent one of Heff's Bunnies...

Not entirely true... there is definately a bunny that would fit the bill.

Someone emailed KM and asked about the lack of Marvel and if it was dead...
the answer was "The game is not dead we just released 3 DC packs this month!"

so...yeah. I take that as they have lost the Marvel license. I expect we should hear what company is getting it at GAMA (mid-March).
my money is on FFG or Modiphius.

I think that might be a premature reaction, I'd assume if they'd lost the license they'd have stopped selling it entirely. While there haven't been any model releases for a couple of months, we got the Spidey stuff put back into general release with new cards.

I reckon they're just trying to get enough DC out the door for that game to get a secure footing with a decent range.

Yeah, I'm not feeling that.

The direct question was whether they had stopped the Marvel game. Their answer was "No." Then, they said they are releasing DC stuff right now.

We know they have cards in development for the remaining models (Loki, Thanos, Venom). We also know they are horrible with their communication. I think its that simple still. They just are not telling us directly that they still have the Marvel line and that they are going to continue it.

Really, and I've said this before, its been less than a year since they started to release the MUG, and in that time, they released 5 starters and about a dozen new additional single packs. In addition to maintaining the BMG line. That's a hell of a year.

Also worth noting the 5th anniversary of BMG is coming up soon I think, that could be why they're doing more than usual releases for that.

Haha, must be a bunch of new faces to the scene if people are really worried that a few months without new toys for their specific thing means it must be dead.

Yeah one of the Facebook groups is up in arms because Marvel hasn't had an announcement or release for a while.

It's like people don't understand how companies and licenses even work.

The last legitimately new Marvel model was August. That's not "a while." That's Fantasy Flight timescales...

Hey, those symbols get way more colorful than good/evil.

Ironically, the release of Green Lantern is rapidly draining my willpower. If those symbols get some support I'm a goner for sure.

Having just went through this a few months back with FFG and the GW license, this seems a bit deja vu all over again. It’s been a number of months since KM last released anything for the Marvel Universe Miniatures Game, and coupled with their silence on the issue it’s spawned rampant speculation as to the future of the Marvel license. Word started leaking out last night that retailers have been told the license has ended, and an official announcement will be made by KM in the near future.

from the beasts of war forum, poster is reliable as industry news goes so if you want any Marvel stuff you're missing grab it now before it vanishes

News according to retailers is marvel has been dropped IN FAVOUR of dc and the harry potter game. Cos we all know harry potter is bigger than marvel. Knight have to be the worst company ever if this is true.

Hopefully a decent company gets the marvel line and knight flop with hp

I can understand the first part, but why do you specifically hope the second part?

It might be that the Marvel license costs more than it is bringing in, so it hasn't been renewed in favour for something that might not be as pricey but could be popular as well?

Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

Wow. Very disappointed. The Marvel one is top notch. And I hate Harry Potter with a passion. Terrible decision.

Don't quite understand why they would drop Marvel for HP. Marvel at the very least has new films coming out constantly, with new alternate models like they did for Batman. HP has what? The original films and maybe the upcoming ones with the same characters?

"Dropped in favor" is just a positive spin on a negative thing. No company wants to tell retailers they will no longer be supporting a product line without the news that they have something to take its place.

Marvel is Disney, and they're the big boys right now. I wish I were surprised by this, but I'm not. It likely just became too expensive for a company of their size to deal with, and they can better appropriate their licensing budget to their already successful DC/Batman line and now the un-tapped Harry Potter market.

Sad if the marvel line is dropped. One I've been watching but not jumped in on yet.
The thing that had me holding back was the lack of bad guys. Avengers vs x-men just didn't appeal to me. But then lack of a good bad guy has been marvels problem for a long time!

Mean while I've been picking up the DC TV universe stuff knight have been putting out, arrow, flash and co always get some attention from onlookers down the gaming club.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Dropped seems... Unlikely. Being unable to afford the license, or Disney just withholding the license entirely, seems more likely.

If anyone needs it and has trouble finding it, my local has it in stock. Full Marvel line, including the new Dark Avengers set. I can get it for regular retail, which might be "high" now, but will be good when eBay for OOP items becomes the only way. I'll help my fellows out where I can!!
Nightcrawler is gone though. I snagged a duplicate for his X-Force costume.

You guys are all nuts. Since Disney bought anything merchandising goes thru the roof not depletes... See what they did with star wars???? anyone. Since they bought starwars i can't go to walmart without seeing a product with starwars insigna on it. So if anything the cost of licensing goes down, not up.

Disney has owned marvel rights for so long it isn't funny. With them expanding all the DC stuff it is because of the large push toward DC right now. Justice league just starting and the explosion about to start with those movies... kinda like Avengers.

I don't see them doing anything with the Marvel line other then adding to it. They got a decent foundation of models to build on.

Noes! :(

Knight Models will no longer make products based on the Marvel Universe licence.

It has been a difficult decision, as many hours of work, effort and excitement were invested in this licence. But we consider that our business must follow another path.

We would like to thank the teams at Disney and Marvel Entertainment Inc. for allowing us to create such wonderful products. We also want to thank you, our followers, for your support.

And here we are. Definitely reading between the lines it's like "costs too much money" of "too many restrictions" to me.

Knight Models wrote:

Dear Customers,

This is going to be a year full of changes and new projects at Knight Models.

Our company was founded in 2008 and began working with Marvel Entertainment Inc. licensed products by designing and manufacturing high quality miniatures of its most famous heroes and villains for collectors and painters. Later, we expanded that relationship and created the Universe Miniature Game and its range of gaming miniatures.

Our long entrepreneurial relationship with Marvel has been incredible, and working on such a gratifying project for so many years, developing those characters that we love so much, has made us very happy. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

We would like to thank the teams at Disney and Marvel Entertainment Inc. for allowing us to create such wonderful products. We also want to thank you, our followers, for your support.

Our investment in our superheroes lines, however, continues with the DC Universe Miniature Game and, of course, our flagship Batman Miniature Game – these lines will continue to be developed, and we’re incredibly excited for the future of these lines, as well as forthcoming projects. The Batman Miniature Game has become a cornerstone in miniature skirmish gaming. The successful launch of the Suicide Squad game box has allowed us to invest even further in the game’s future, and grow our wonderful gaming community.

This year we celebrate the Batman Miniature Game’s 5th Anniversary, and we’re doing so in style, with some very special anniversary products and brand new expansions, starting with the Arkham Knight campaign book, with more great new content to follow.

Of course, it cannot have escaped the community’s attention that Knight Models will soon be launching another big licenced product. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Warner Bros. over the following years, and enter the fantastic, magical universe of Harry Potter. The Harry Potter Miniature Game will be a culmination of the team’s hard work and dedication to creating a true quality gaming experience, and we look forward to launching some of the most spectacular miniatures to accompany it. We hope that you’ll enjoy this new project as much as we have working on it!

Picking Harry Potter over Marvel seems like picking a corpse over a supermodel in a "who would you bang" situation. Thankfully, I have all the Marvel models I want, and I should be able to use them in the DC hero game with no issue, since I have the cards. But since Marvel got me in and I feel kinda screwed on this...I guess Knight isn't getting any more of my money.
