A Protoss colony world

Well, the moment you've all been waiting for (I hope!), time for me to unveil the mighty Tau KV128 Stormsurge that I've been laboring over for a month. Pics or it didn't happen, you say? Well, feast your eyes on these:

Let me tell you, my photography skills do not do this thing justice. I had a hard time making a good white background, since this thing is just so big. Hard to pick the best photos of the ones I took as well. The contest rules say five, and five is how many I'm submitting, but I took eleven in total. The rest will very shortly be found in my Stormsurge blog.

I can tell you, this was a very challenging miniature (and I use the term miniature very loosely) to build and paint. However, it was a lot of fun. I think it fits this month's theme very nicely on many levels (indeed, size mattered not for me getting this done in time!). Biggest miniature I've ever done in my life. I'm loving what everyone else has submitted so far. Most entries have gone toward small rather than big (lot of grots this month). Looking forward to the voting!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 25 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

I know I'm far from the level of quality and consistency that I see on here daily, but I judge myself against myself, and thanks to the encouragement (and friendly insults/threats in some cases) I have joined in and finished a model, that I am happy with and have managed to improve my megar abilities slightly.

Unfortunately due to some work issues I didnt get the 3 models I wanted done, but here is my Bag Pipe Playing Goblin none the less.

again apologies for the camera, my sister has said I can borrow her decent camera if I join in next month

Thanks for the competition it made me try new things and gave me a reason to have patience and endeavour

Every day I learn something new! But I forget 2 things I knew yesterday

So apparently it's really difficult to get good pictures of tiny, dark, gothic figures that are hunched over...who knew?!

Still, I think these are slightly better than the previous ones:

Its been real nice flicking through the entries this month - fantastic mini's people! (i'm now a fan of tiny models) it's going to be tough voting this month!!

Too much excellence here, can't comment properly.

Aaaand... I'm failing this month. I just couldn'g find the time nor the enthusiasm to work on that damned sailor. Oh well, next month will be like a blank paper, lets see if I managd to finish all of the challenges the next round.

Trevor started off in the "I paint your miniature and borrow it for a while" thread.
I posted him as something I never got anywhere with him, having got him second hand from a kid who got him from someone else...

And basically his tail weighed so much that every time KB assembled it, regardless of glue, pin or securing it, it fell off. Occasionally wrecking stuff at the same time.

Pretty sure he's haunted by sheer ennui.

Last picture, Trev

That thread has a lot of the drama within it, as does this one;

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/120/660242.page#8078675

As does this one

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/659995.page#8075048

I will compile them all into the chronicles of trev one day - right now it is all a bit too soon.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Please don't remind me of the tail.

It is still slightly wonky, held together with pure rage. He has wrecked at least 2 models, a drill bit, and who knows what else. On top of it all, I also bought my own Malryte from the manufacturer - it is in worse shape than Trev when I got him.

I don't want to hang gak on Valiant Miniatures, but this thing is utterly terrible. I have seen chinese recasts that are of infinitely better quality.

Done! Thought I'd be ahead of time this go around. Then Papa Nurgle decided to pay me a visit last Wednesday. Can see some things I'd probably have done a little bit better if I wasn't blowing my nose between brush strokes, but I'll have to deal with that later. For now, he's done.

Sry I haven't been very active on the thread this months, it seems over the last 2 and a half weeks I've barely had chance to eat let alone browse the internet.

After a big push over the weekend and tonight I've mostly finished the models, still some highlighting left to do in places and a few extras bits I would like to finish also some that went wrong (Lightening Effect on sword and In my haste I cut the poor snotlings toes off ) but its at least something.

Only got two blokes done in 3 weeks. :(

These guys are the extremely basic, and arguably... kind of cruddy line infantry for the Nomad Sectorial: Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin (Infinity).

(The two guys are center, far right, and bottom left in the block of 9 infantry in the proof photo)

I thought he came out fairly well for an eBay rescue.

Superb last minute entries from everyone! Since a couple of you mentioned needing to take better pics or whatever, I'll leave the submissions open for another couple of hours or so, hopefully that'll be enough for you (if not, them PM me the pics and I'll add them in to the Vote thread).

@kb: Chronicles of Trev is a Dakka article waiting to happen...

@MG: I knew you'd find a way to get some comedic greenskins in there! Good stuff!

Love what you did with that tower Tal.

This month was rough for me, I am afraid that for all my teasing I forgot about my dread. Also Im apparently not a DCM anymore and I also got distracted by some metal guard models and plastic ones. Cough.

I'll re enter old man Belore if there is a contest that would suit him.

Trev looks good, considering he is a dick.
