Welcome all to the 12th Unofficial Dakka Painting Challenge, the final round of this rotation of challenges. For those who have not followed any previous challenges, this is a friendly competition for painters of all skill levels and experience, and anyone on Dakka is welcome to join in.
The theme for this month's challenge is: Size Matters Not. You are free to interpret this however you like, but some suggestions include models in larger or smaller scales than you usually work with, physically large or small models or models with over/undersized gear, weaponry or surroundings. Bonus points will be given to anyone who manages to create a 1:1 scale Ant Man diorama!*
*Bonus points may not be given. The organisers of this competition cannot condone not taking Ant-man seriously, nor do they accept responsibility for any damage resulting from shouting 'hey, midget' at him. Always read the small print.
How To Enter
- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 5 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting.
So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month Following the vote, points will be awarded for the following:
These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.
How Long Do I Have?
This challenge begins 1st February and will end at midnight GMT on the 29th February. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.

Anwar moved through the press of bodies hurrying Shlepper along as best he could. Those mercenaries would be on him soon enough without his bot dragging him down too. Shlep seemed to be even more prickly and slow since taking that glancing shot in their first encounter with the hired muscle. He wondered who it could be after him. Although with the new serums he was carrying, fresh out of the labs, every faction in the galaxy would be wanting their filthy infidel hands on them...

@Winter: Not sure what you mean. It's always said the 19th February, never anything different. Are you suggesting that in a state addled by flu and tiredness I for some reason forgot to change it from the January OP I shamelessly copied? Because I can assure you, that would never happen! I'm far too diligent and not at all the kind of berk that would make that sort of mistake!

@Paradigm, I have no clue what you are talking about? I never made any suggestion or edit that would have been suggestive of an error.
It's just not in my nature to be so cruel and mean.

I'm in with this toy dino repaint, he's been fully primed since this photo but didn't want to do any more until the challenge started! Plus his base hasn't arrived yet.
I'm in, too. I totally ran out of miniatures and do not feel like buying some new right now.
So I checked my bitzbox and found some "intersting" looking little heads.
The result thus far is this:
A Mega Armour Grot!
I want to make three of these , including a Mega Armour Grot-Jetbike.
A grot takes me about 2-3 days, so we'll see whats gonna be done this month.

I AM NUMBER ELEVEN!!! It's like being first, but two times, right?!
I'm officially in with this proof:
That's right, I'm doing a Tau KV128 Stormsurge, easily the largest 40k model I've ever owned. I'm really excited about this paint and build, as when I'm done I'll have something very powerful to play with in games.
My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

My idea is to build modular terrain that will fit together to make one big, centerpiece building, or split up into nice looking separate buildings.
So, in one configuration, it should be a single, connected, 24" x 24" structure (approximately), or be able to split up and fill a good chunk of a 6x4 table. In a way, it's inspired by the Khornetress, except that's just too big to be useful for me, and also, I want a structure that looks good and fits on the Realm of Battle boards (the basic shape must have 90 degree corners, and fit the size patterns of the sidewalk blocks, generally). Due to time limitations, I probably wont' finish the whole structure, but as far as I go is as big as the building gets, I guess, so truly.... Size Matters Not!!

@Kb: It's a good job I wasn't drinking when I saw that Proof, or there would now be tea all over my computer! THE TREV COMETH!
Regarding Epic and other small scale minis, I'd honestly not really thought about it. So on a purely arbitrary basis, I'm going to say that 1 base of models (however many that may be, I'm not familiar) equates to 1 model as far as the challenge is concerned. The same goes for anything really tiny, like if someone is doing Ripper Swarms or Necron Scarabs or Orclings for KoW, 1 base=1 'model'. Hope that's all right for everyone.
Hah! It'll be a shame to see the Saga of the Trev come to an end, I doubt any single mini on Dakka has induced so much rage and hilarity both, crossed into so many threads and become such an icon of the forum!
And since you're about to start painting him, I guess I ought to admit that I was totally going to take BC's offer to paint him in the original thread if you didn't! Oh, I am glad I ended up choosing Bugman instead!
He's not had a good life, you be nice.
I got him from a teenager that fitted the first lot of glue to him that you had to chisel off, and whatever the hell happened to his feet. He also used to be brown and pink.
Then he moved house with me nine times in four years. He's never had a stable home life.
