Glad to hear the timeline may move forward a bit- hopefully not just pushing more things in before the final hour but actually diving headfirst into the next millennium.
All this chaos stuff is fine and dandy, but we need more focus on the real threat to the galaxy- Tyranids.

This sounds absolutely horrible. I for one don't need plastic Magnus and timeline advancement - plastic autocannons would suffice thank you. We're going to rely on the folks who brought us Draigo, newcrons, Dreadknights, Centurions and Age of fething Sigmar not to screw this up? Pete Haines help us. Pete Haines help us all.

Pretty much this. I am not a fan of the huge centerpiece plastic model company that GW has become in the last little while.
Knights, do we really need them in 40k? No. Baneblades and titans do we really need them in 40k? No. Huge Tau suits do we really need them in 40k? No. Flyers do we need them in 40k? No.
Even Apoc im not a huge fan of. Huge set piece battles was the domain on SpaceMarine/Epic40k, it worked in those games. There is WAY to much crap in 40k now. The scale of the game is way to small to represent what we have on the table now. Unless you are playing on a huge table everything is just piled onto the table, you move forward and take stuff of the table when you roll bad. There really is no thought to it. Just place, move, roll, remove models while your opponent tries not to fall asleep due to the I go You go design that is 20 years out of date. It's way to complicated and not complex enough
Thank god for FW and the Heresy era stuff....and 'other' ways to get models.
I have VERY low expectations for the Magnus model in plastic. Mono-posed with horrible undercuts while trying to look 'heroic' and 'epic' and trying way to hard and failing big time, just like with the wolfen models. So much potential in theory, but so much fail in execution.

Seriously? You're complaining that they are releasing a Daemon Primarch - something we haven't seen in model-form in decades - for a faction (Chaos, specifically Tzeentch) that has been woefully under-represented up until the Silver Tower release? You're complaining that we are going to get a model in plastic that no one surely ever expected to get, a model that will instantly stand out from nearly any other release done in the past half a decade? You're complaining that the story is evolving in a definitive way that could open up limitless new possibilities for the setting and its associated model releases (Magnus)? You're complaining simply because you're worried they're going to screw up a release before you have any idea as to the quality of said release?
Seriously. Can hobbyists ever be pleased by anything? Welp, I guess a *plastic Daemon Primarch*, plastic Rubric Marines and plastic Thousand Sons doesn't constitute any tentative excitement at all, just instant negativity. It doesn't matter that we've never seen plastic Thousand Sons of any kind or a plastic Daemon Primarch, or heck, updated models for Thousand Sons (including Magnus) in over a decade barring the 30K-specific Forge World upgrade sets. Nope.

That's fair enough but I very much like the diversity offered by being able to use infantry, tanks, flyers and titans in any given game. Adding lots of big plastic stuff doesn't immediately invalidate smaller models (except in some cases obviously), it just adds options to us as a player base and I find that to be extremely important - you don't have to play with the big models, and I definitely don't want them gone.
Ironically, you praise Forge World when they release not just the most expensive models but have by far the largest selection of huge-scale models; that's kind of their shtick. Not disagreeing though, 30K is awesome.

I'm looking forward to the continuation of the 40k universe. A return of Lion El Johnson and Leman Russ? Fighting Magnus and maybe Mortarion and Angron? Sounds like pretty interesting campaigns to me.
Strange thing is I read the same arguments how Warhammer will improve (turn cool again) with Nagash coming back.
And if Russ comes back, I will buy him if ge is not looking that bad.
But I don't think that this will help 40k to get better. It is just EndTi es for 40k, but GW learned from theur mistakes and now they do it better than with Warhammer (but the outcome will be the same)

Atia and Sad Panda have both confirmed what Mauler has said, meaning we're definitely getting a plastic Daemon Primarch Magnus the Red, a plastic Lord of Change, plastic 30K Thousand Sons and plastic 40K Thousand Sons. Exciting times ahead.....though I assume there will be more than one plastic Primarch. Can't wait to see how Magnus compares to Ae'taeos'rau'keres.

New Lord of change and other plastic Chaos? Yes Please!
Magnus? Ehhhhhhhh, not so much. He's only come out to kick the wolves, ONCE. We've yet to see any (that I know of) Magnusite Thousand Sons come out, the only ones we see are ahriminian exiles, and knowing GW, he'll probably be a generic big bad, who gets beat at the last minute when Russ pops out of the warp, and everybody craps their collective power pants. Hopefully these rumors are 30k and 40k getting accidentally mixed (since book 7 is apparently set to launch at the tail end of this year, so I've been told, at least.)

I hope not. Magnus 'aint a daemon in 30k yet, and the 30k upgrade kits look nothing like current rubric marines
My core issue is that they are doign Magnus, a primarch who SHOULD be absoultley broken by the fluff, but who should also have a story that is rather conflicted in loyalties (he hates tzeentch, him and his marines have only left the warp once since prospero, and it was to kick the wolves.) Is he suddenly going to be a generic tzeentchy DP? Will he be conflicted, as he should by the fluff? How are they going to do his character, without ruining it? Are they gonna have him get 'deus ex machina'd by russ? As for the rules, make him suitably unstoppable in the psychic phase, and your 60% of the way there.

Having a human sized models (or barely above) being able to pretty much to beat by himself a whole army would make the game feels a bit too mangaish

The Magnus is plastic model. Ergo if this would be 30k release it would be plastic primarch. First for FW.
And Magnus got fluff of being outside warp besides Prospero in WD's back in the time. Automatically Appended Next Post: streetsamurai wrote:HOpefully they only release the daemons primarch and not the loyalist SM ones.

I kind of hope they release all the surviving primarchs in plastic, which could theoretically be anyone but Sanguinius, Kurze, Ferrus Manus and Horus. Give them different war gear and rules from their 30k variants - Roboute Guilliman wielding the gauntlets of macragge, for example. Or Dorn with a big ass hammer and shield.
Who doesn't want to see the Great Khan on some crazy archaotech jet bike he liberated from Commoroagh, or Angron a giant hulking monster straight from hell? This could be the path to some glorious stuff coming out of GW, especially if they don't end these campaign books with 'the Imperium and galaxy are dead, gg time for reset'.

Guys, the plastic Magnus is - from what we know - NOT being done by FW or a replacement for the FW one. The guy doing plastic Daemon Primarch Magnus is also doing the plastic Lord of Change per Sad Panda, meaning it is a GW designer. FW have confirmed that they are in the process of sculpting Magnus for 30K with one of their own designers.
Calm your horses!
@Gamgee
There's no need for Primarch-level characters in other factions if they don't have them in the background. Imperium/Chaos have always had more tools than other factions, adding Primarchs to them would be no different to any other big-model release. Besides, who needs a Primarch when you have a Titan?
