Hi all,

Thinking about having 2 land raider crusaders and a redeemer in a list with some assault units.. two 15 man crusader squads with chaplains in the crusaders (obviously) and a ten man honor guard squad in the redeemer again with a chaplain but I don't want to play unbound to get the chaplains in the list.. what options do I have?

Use a CAD and take them as HQs?

I'd do a Land Raider Spearhead to get some bonuses, then a CAD with 2 Chaplains, honor guard and the Crusader squads with an Allied Blood Angels Detachment to get the last Chaplain and maybe think to swap the Honor guard for a Death company squad.

1 Land raider spear head

1 Allied Detachment With 1 chaplain, and go out and buy 1 more troop?

You could also go (if you wanted to be more simple):

1 CAD with 2 chaplains, honor guard, 2 crusader squads, 3 land raiders (in HS)
1 Allied Detachment with 1 Chaplain, and go buy 1 more troop.

Thanks for the responses.. the reason I wouldn't go with the land raider spearhead at the moment is the objective secure I can get on the crusaders.. as they'd be dedicated transports for the crusader squads.. it would be three chaplains I would have.

If I allied in a blood angels detachment and took a chaplain would it still be able to join the black Templar unit? Or would I be better off having CAD for BT and then a allied BT detachment as well?

You can't have a CAD and an allied detachment with the same CT. Blood angels don't have the Chapter tactics rule, so they can join a Black Templars unit without losing the CT.

You can have a CAD and an AD which both have the same Chapter Tactic. The BRB says that your allied detachment can't have the same faction as your primary detachment, so if you have 3 detachments and pick your warlord from the one that is not either the CAD or AD you can do it.

If he needs 3 detachments then he's probably better off just upgrading the AD to a CAD by buying a squad of bare-naked scouts. A third detachment is gonna cost way more than a 55 point squad. You can have two CADs with the same CT and still have one as your primary I believe.
