As I can't find the Chaos thread, I have the sinking feeling in my wallet when I realise I am eligible for both the supplements. I held off on the 6th Ed ones, but these might be worth it. My Chaos is Khorne (Crimson Slaughter) with Black Legion undivided

Cool stuff all around. Those new psychic powers just enabled so many more deathstars but I digress. Getting anything for CSMs is a win and new decurion for the other SM chapters just rocks.

I'm giddy waiting for the rule leaks but GW has a common habit of late of packaging specific formations so I expect those new boxes of cultists and termites to be new formations for chaos.

I wasn't overly taken with the retro-Marine at first, but I'm warming to him now. I'm beginning to picture him leading a squad of other oddballs in unusual armour marks.

Talk about penis envy.

Maybe that's because after nearly a decade of crushing disappointment folks fully expect the Chaos updates to be hot garbage?

I predict that the Black Legion decurion will be called the "Black Crusade". It will grant Crusader (get it? hurr!) and +1/-1 on the Chaos Boon table. It will require something daft like 8 squads of Khorne berserkers or 9 squads of Thousand Sons to run.

Gonna tell you right now, it would be Chosen instead of that.

I think people should look into what formations Apocalypse War Zone: Pandorax had for an idea as to what Black Legion formations might be added in.

Chaos players need to man up and accept they are only there to make the space marines look good. The imperium is the focus, everyone else is there for them to shoot at

I agree after the vomited up waaaagh ghazghkull "update" which they put zero thought into. I mean they put so much thought into the 3 new ork formations! 3 dakka jets, 3 blitz bombers or 3 burna bombs. They must have worked on that idea for weeks !

It's obvious GW only cares about marines and the money they make and the other armies don't matter rules wise as long as the marines players feels heroic and forges that narrative.

I kinda wish these psychic trees were chapter specific.
Like technomancy would be iron hands etc.
It wouldn't stop super friends list but it would give other factions more reasons to be taken than the typical white scar librarius conclave that everyone takes.

I wonder if any of the stuff from Angels of Death will be useable by BA, DA, GK, SW beyond just the psychic powers. Not counting on it, but it could be fun.

People should be prepared for some Centurion Spam with the Imperial Fist stuff. I am thinking I may need to get a box or two if that is the case. I can't wait to see what the Sternhammer Strike Force can do. Hopefully it will allow Pedro Kantor in place of the Captain the way the Pinion and Scarblade do. He is technically a Captain in addition to a Chapter Master after all.

This may sound dumb but is this book just formations and fluff,? or it more of a codex? Will you still need a codex if all of the relics and stats are in it? also any guesses as to price?

It is a Codex Supplement so you still need the Codex. It is $33 as listed in the White Dwarf. Not bad considering it will have all the Kauyon stuff in addition to the Sentinels of Terra and Clan Raukhaan stuff.

All of the Vanilla and Chaos boxed releases offer some tiny savings, and also good to see the likes of the plastic Chaplain and Terminator Captain available in sub £50 boxes.

Really hoping there is a Iron Hands Demi-Company like the Pinion one. Maybe Dreads and vehicles. That would be awesome.

Can you buy the miniature from the online store? If so will it be available from 12 midnight on the 16th? If so will the internet crash horribly as it gets sold out within minutes?

I would place money on that fact. We already know Imperial Fists are getting one, there is no reason to believe Iron Hands and Salamanders won't.

A return of the Angels of Death book, I still have the original one - I feel happy.

Turns out its nothing to do with Angels at all, Blood or Dark - now I'm sad.

Along with being the name of the combined Angels codex in 2nd edition, 'Angels of Death' has always been a reference to Space Marines in general.

So the Imperium can lose to a wider variety of opposing forces in FW publications. I mean, they can't just lose to Tau, 'Nids, 'Crons, Orks and Eldar all the time. Got to have some variety in there!

We're literally getting some glitter sprinkled onto a turd and being told 'Be happy, your turd now sparkles.'

End of the day it's still a gorram turd.

Meh.

Also, for the record, Black Library did release the White Scars and Raven Guard stuff seperately as digital downloads.

The idea of a combined book is something they should have been doing for ages...

But then, so's the idea that one of the armies in the starter box should have an up to date Codex, eh?

Now only a CSM player.

Seems too soon for new Raven Guard formations.

Since the Black Legion Supplement presents god-specific sub groups of the BL I'd hope for some god specific formations as well as something with Chosen+Abby. To save something, the "Decurion-style" formation bonus could be Veterans of the long war for FREE for all units

I don't think there will be any. This just puts the Kauyon stuff in a more affordable spot.

It's the Kauyon ones repackaged. Makes me sad I splurged on the Raven Guard supplement for the Shadowstrike Kill Team...

Iron Hands will be getting a new decurion, reading through the previews, but I don't believe that Salamanders will. Ultramarines and Salamanders will be 'left out' (the new Formations to potentially use and Psychic Powers are pretty dope, though...) of this, while the rules releases are:

White Scars, Raven Guard: Kauyon material. Chapter Specific Decurions, Relics and Warlord Traits, Formations for Everyone.
Iron Hands + Imperial Fists: New Chapter Specific Decurions, Sentinels of Terra/Raukaan Relics and Warlord Traits, Formations for everyone.
Crimson Fists + Black Templar: Chapter Specific Warlord Traits from the White Dwarf
Salamanders: Re-releasing their Tactical Objectives, perhaps, will be the extent?
Everyone (including DAngels, BAngels, Wolves): 4 new Psychic Powers tables, BaC Era units (Cataphractii, Contemptor, ???)

Median Trace wrote:Really hoping there is a Iron Hands Demi-Company like the Pinion one. Maybe Dreads and vehicles. That would be awesome.

I'm willing to bet the Iron Hands one will have a Techmarine OR Captain, extra Dreads, and perhaps 0-1 Sternguard/Terminator/Vanguard unit, to represent Clan Companies a bit better?

The Imperial Fist one is easier, probably being 1-3 Devastator or Devastator Centurion Squads.

EDIT: I'm personally hoping that the Iron Hands bring an all Dreadnought formation, so Codex Marines can legally field an all Dread army. I'll totally do that with my UM, despite getting less bonuses than WS or IH!

Crazyterran, the preview flat out says that Salamanders get their own detachment.

So you are right. I must've skimmed through that part.

No Ultramarine love. Anyone can use our 'Decurion' but nobody can use any of the snowflakes detachments. QQ and all that.
