I need motivation to keep me focused on my (multiple) projects! So, I'm going to make a thread here in which I can post my progress and put some pressure onto myself to keep up with posting images. Currently I have too many projects on the go:
--(Second) Scratch built Potato head Stompa
--sratch built potato head Big mek Stompa
--Dakkajet conversion
--Scratch built Battlewagon
--Scratch built 'hover wagon'
--Scratch built Zhadsnark da Rippa
--Painting (lotz and lotz and lotz of orks!)
So I hope this'll keep me on task. Any comments/feedback is greatly appreciated!
First up, my Battlewagon!
I saw this toy at the dollar store, and thought the the cab looked about the same size as a battlewagon's dimensions. So I picked it up to see if I could do anything with it. I was rather skeptical, because I feared my ability to make this convincing (esp when I discovered that the plastic was of a much cheaper quality and was brittle).
But with stressing/cutting/scraping, this thing actually started making me think it might work..
adding a transport platform for the orks...
And a killkannon + structure for when I want a more shooty wagon..
Getting near completion!
Added a reinforced ram!
Now all that's left, I think, is to add (lots) of rivets (sigh...) and I can get priming/painting. I think. Maybe.

Looks brilliant! I've made a handful of plasticard ork tanks before and came across a few tips:
You can get a pretty neat effect by chewing lightly on the plasticard. It adds a bit of damage, dents scratches etc,
Any gaps can be filled with liquid greenstuff, but any large gaps will need to be reinforced by plasticard as liquid greenstuff sinks into all recesses likke water.
Ill keep an eye on this thread, its looking great!

Thanks for the feedback so far! Yes, I'm going to be adding greenstuff and miliput to some of these projects to fill in gaps (like something for between the reinforced ram and the cab, because right now it's hot glue and a pen shell).
For the next on going project in this (now blog! Thanks!), I've got the "Hover Wagon". Inspired by a project on Da Waaagh! forums by nonebutone using the same base subject, I went to my local dollar store and picked up a couple of these nerf-styled guns:
None's idea had been to cut the handle off, and use those three grey tubes (where you're supposed to insert the foam darts) as exhausts. I agreed that the look and feel would fit an the Orks, sort of like a mash up between Mad Max meets Star Wars a New Hope meets an Ork Mek's insane shenanigans.
Naturally, this battlewagon is going to be quite unorthodox, and it's obviously a very special design...something that only a Bad Moon Warboss could afford!! So I hand made a bad moons glyph. Yeah, it's a pain to cut with an exact-O blade.
I had to take the screws out and open the gun to remove the internal spring loading mechanism, and to disable the cocking mechanism. Inside I found a TON of grease, btw, which was not fun to clean out. sigh. But once I had it all apart and was about to put it back together, I sat and thought "huh...None's was the straight up gun, and it looked cool...but I wonder..." because I wanted mine to be different than his - the idea was to borrow the concept, but make this my own execution - so I got to thinking about the Battlewagon's transport capacity of 20 models. A regular nerf gun doesnt look like it can hold 20 models, but...with the gun split in half this way, I started noticing that it could be widened...
Using dollar store pens, just like on the stompa, I thought I could cut these to the right size and use them as separators and a frame for a larger model:
and I think it worked:
Mounting it to a base was a simple matter of twisting some coat hanger together and feeding it under a wooden base that's been routered on the bottom:
Making the model wider also allowed me to do something a bit more "built in" for a cockpit, so I sunk the cockpit into the body of the vessel.
Adding a turret (for a killkannon, or kannon, or whatever) was fun, because I wanted to have the turret be able to turn when this is done. Unfortunately, it can't come out, so in games I do NOT take the Kannon, i'll have to be very clear it's NOT there...
For fun, I decided to embellish a bit and add this guy to the bow section. Life is cheap, and grots know best: A rocket booster pack and stikkbomb, and this guy's ready to jump in and ruin someone's day (and his own).
For the engine, I'm going for a turbine like core - the tropicana turbine!
That's where this model is right now. (both these wagons have been projects over the past 2-3 weeks). I've also got some stabilizer wings and engines attached to the sides of the hover wagon (one is kind of visible in that last image). I 've got to add rivets to the hover wagon, and likely more armour plates. I'm also not entirely happy with that turret, but don't currently have as much inspiration for it, so we'll see what I do.
Thanks for looking! As always, comments and feedback are welcome and appreciated!

Got a chance to play around with this again yesterday.
The major changes are making the buzzsaw/stompa klaw/ ccw arm, complete with a massive skorcha! I've added some armour plating as well.
Thanks for viewing!

Been a couple of weeks since I've had any time to work on my projects. I'm adding studs to the second Tater Titan, primed the battle wagon, and tonight, I found time to work on the Big Mek Stompa. I'm working on a drill arm for the titan CCW, and a super gatla + skorcha + kill kannon combo gun.
Thanks for looking!

Okay, so I might be a little addicted to these projects...."found" time this afternoon to work on the Big Mek Stompa some more (read: avoided work).
Mounted the drill arm and the super gatla...it looks rather awkward, I fear. Llike the Meks didn't think through the placement of the arms (i.e. *I* didn't think ahead in placement, and had to alter things as I went when I just randomly couldn't decide between the two arms and decided to go with both). Thoughts? I suppose it's more or less too late for me to back peddle now, since everything's wired and glued, but with some effort, I could remove an arm, I suppose.

Thanks! Really, I think my stuff looks rather ham-fisted (I don't always plan out parts of my builds...as evidenced by the double arms on the big mek stompa), so I fear my stuff ends up a little ramshackle. I'm glad you like it!

More Projects!
I finished my scratch built Battlewagon last week and this week have painted KIlla Kans (posted the completed models in the showcase forum).
For more conversion work, well...last week being May the Fourth and Star Wars Day, I decided to turn my attention to a project I've wanted to do for some time now, after seeing one online...
What am I doing with this Deff Kopta???

What are you using for rivets? Are those the beads from water filters?

Thank you! Actually, it has been done before: http://www.coolminiornot.com/318029 which is where I got the idea in the first place Just like my first potato head stompa, I'm a merciless looter who will take ideas for my own projects (though without any instructions, I suppose this is entirely my own design and execution).

So I've made progress on two projects: my Hover Wagon, and my Second Potato head Stompa!
The Hover Wagon is nearing completion, with just some minor details left in painting:
And the Stompa has finally reached the point where I"m comfortable saying "enough! Onward to priming!"
Yeah, it lights up!
