I believe I found it. The set was listed as "veteran" instead of 2.0 and that threw me off a bit at first.

A friend of mine recently traded me his unused KS Deadzone lot for some RPG stuff and now I find there is a 2.0. As someone with the KS (Strikezone I believe) stuff what should I be looking for?

I liked the minis and wanted the terrain for multiple uses so I still win, but I did want to play the game as well.

i would just go for the book - the dice are nice but there is a table in the book which has the 6 faces laid out so you can use regular D6. With regards Markers, you need activation and a few others but not loads and you could probably use the original ones easy enough if you got all the KS bits.

I used my original markers before I got my pledge and they worked fine.

speaking of which I though I'd chuck this here as well as having posted the bits separately in the news and rumours thread.

Deadzone KS unboxing effort

Soo much stuff

Not going to be able to go through all of it so here's some of the new stuff

New Board Game plastic characters

Here are Enforcer "master chief", biker Blaine, abomination and the Piper

As they come

Components Assembled!

Miles better than the previous restic minis and better than most of the mantic metals I've seen too.
Their not as good as resins or metals from other companies but their still nice and a good step forward for mantic
Really happy with them will need to see how they take paint before I give my final verdict on them though.

The enforcer is going to be painted like Master chief that's a given.

Not painted any of my Blaines yet but his speeder bike is def going to be red

Still trying to come up with a scheme for my space rats.

Forge father steel warriors

Continuing my trawl through my Kickstarter shipment

Here are the forge father steel warriors

The sprues

Size comparison with Guardsman Bob and Fusilier Jones

My thoughts

I fell a little in love with these little guys during the Kickstarter that's why I've got 30 of them (6 sprues)

So I was really happy seeing the detail on the parts up close, it is a lot better than the enforcer and zombie sprues.

But when I came to put them together I was a bit let down by the poor fit between the 2 torso halves(doesn't line up and there are gaps in the arm and neck joints) and then the torso to the legs.( gaps around e sides no lower back if you put the torsos on straight but there is. Lot less when you angle the torsos)

Thankfully you can't really see the gaps when the whole model is put together.

Overall happy with the kit despite its faults and looking forward to building the rest of the little buggers.

The Sprue

What I built

What's left for the bits box

Size comparison with Guardsman Bob and Fusilier Jones, and a photo bombing bjorn.

My thoughts

The torsos dont match flush with the legs, but their wearing bulky jackets so no a big issue (tried a few torsos on each set of legs) the fat malignius(sp) body is pretty bad though.
Some mold lines across the middle of the heads (not kit breakingly bad for the most part though) and the neck ball joints don't look great unless the heads are facing straight forward

But there are Loads of options and it's got lots of nice detail

Overall a nice kit but I can't help but start pondering what skaven bits I can mix in.

So, would you say these kits would benefit from the thick, goopy Testor's model cement gel as opposed to the thin Poly Precision solvent with the needle applicator?

Whats the best way to deal with armoured units at 100 points? Me and my group has played some games with Veermyn, Marauders, Enforcers and Plague, and the Enforcers with their 1 armour always seems to get out on top.

Merc sniper elf lady. Shes insane for 25points. You should also move to the standard 150point games as it helps the other expensive armies some

Odd. Can't take that long to batch email all the Kickstarter backers. You might want to contact Mantic support.

Heck the guy I got the Deadzone stuff off of sent me his pdf copy that he received so I can't imagine any direct backers haven't got theirs yet. Ctaylor is right, you should contact Mantic.

Question since this is the Deadzone thread, did they stop producing the Corporate Marine line of figures? Was looking to build an elysian IG force and I am having issues finding them. The difference between $150+ for 25 guys from FW or $60 from Mantic if I can find them for 30 dudes.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs

Yep. They're producing new sculpts after the new Warpath KS. They're still a way off though.

There are still some online retailers who have some left over, but they're getting fewer and further between: https://www.tabletopempires.com.au/miniatures-sci-fi-56/mantic-95/warpath-96/Warpath-Corporation-Battle-Set

Glad to hear it. I think they were some of the best sculpts produced by Mantic not just because of their alternative uses.

Out of curiosity, how does the game play, is it fairly fast paced, very detailed, and above all do the rules make sense?

And for anyone wanting a "try before you buy", Mantic just posted their Boot Camp Introductory Rulebook. It contains everything from the core rulebook except Missions (though it still has the Standard Patrol sample mission) and Campaigns, and only has the force lists for Forge Fathers and Enforcers, and adds the short story Landmark.

Also for today, Mantic acknowledged the confusion regarding the pipe pack from the Infestation Kickstarter (namely, you only receive one T-junction and one 4-way-junction, when you need two of each to use them). It came about when they retooled the pipe sprue with the intention of retail sales including two sprues. It'd be cost-prohibitive for them to supply an extra sprue to backers, so they're offering a pre-retail discount price until June 30. On the one hand, it's an oversight that's gonna bite them in the butt, especially after glitches in previous Kickstarters; on the other hand, when my KS order came in and I saw just how much (or little) area one set of pipes cover, I was planning on picking some more at a later date - better at the price than full price.

Since it is verboten for posting News about the missing Deadzone pledges (and I was suspended for posting about missing pledges), in the, uhh, Mantic News thread, I figure I'd post the relevant information here for anyone who is looking for News about Mantic's Deadzone and the News about the missing pledges

http://vb.manticforum.com/forum/deadzone/general-discussion-ae/284511-terrible-mantic-customer-and-support-experience-lost-customer?p=286086#post286086

We have identified a chunk of a DZ shipping batch that has failed to be delivered. We are investigating what happened but have been identifying as many people as we can who have been affected so we could build up a list. Yesterday and today we have been repacking and resending all those missing pledges. The CS team are going to email people in the list to let them know. I'm not in the office today but they got through about 70% of them so far and will do more today and tomorrow.

Large packages will arrive by courier. Smaller ones will go Royal Mail and will not quite be as fast. Either way though, anyone on the list we identified should be contacted by CS to say what's happening (and in most cases now that it's already been resent). The list was put together from here, people contacting me or Ronnie directly, the freshdesk tickets and the kickstarter comments.

I suspect there's some full mail bags somewhere sitting at the back of a sorting office...

That's just sad about the pipe problem with the Infestation pledges. Someone should have noticed that during the pre-production approval steps.

Mantic, I want to love you, but you make it hard sometimes.

Can the splats be used on any member of the team or just the commander, it doesn't make it very clear.

Who the splat's on - the Leader, another model in your Strike Team, or even an enemy model - depends on the wording of the Army Special Rule of the Leader. You are, however, limited to one Splat/Army Special per Activation, however, the +1 Model command symbol can allow you to use 2 Army Specials in a Turn.

Let's take the enforcer captains rule for an example
"Stalwart: Enforcers are famed for their resilience and stubbornness. You may spend a Special result on your Command Dice to immediately reroll any number of your dice on a Survive test."
Can I only use this for him in his activation or any member of my strike force.

In that case, you are not limited to a particular model. The only limitation (besides the universal only one Army Special per activation) is that it be used to re-roll dice on a Survive test. So any member of your Strike Team can receive the re-roll.

To give you a different example, look at the Infection Army Special for the Plague Stage 3A "General" (p49 of the main rulebook). That Army Special is limited to "[when] an enemy model is killed..." Likewise, the Pathfinder Sergeant's Target Acquisition Army Special is used "...to mark an enemy model...", while the Forge Father's Chief Brokkr is limited to "...after a friendly model..."

The only Army Special I can find that is limited to the Strike Team's Leader is for the Veer-Myn Brood Mother, which specifically names her.

So if it doesn't state a specific target then you can use it on any member of your own strike team.

We all knew about the pipe thing at time of pledging. Well, rather, if anyone didn't it's their own fault.

I have now had 2 games of 2nd edition and I love it, no magic the gathering games in between turns. I bought the command dice directly after my demo game and haven't looked back since. I am also amazed that i managed to build a fairly nasty Plague list at 100 points.

Got two games in yesterday. plague vs enforcers, one at 100 pots and one at 150 points, both patrol. ( if I get a chance I'll get another game and a bat rep)

Wasn't Mantic going to send DZ2 pdfs to the original DZ1 backers? Been a few months and I haven't heard anything official. My friend is talking about possibly playing again, but we played DZ1 so little and I spent so much on it that I'm really loathe to buy another rulebook (and new dice).

With no dedicated Mantic SF forum, I suppose this is the best place to ask: Does anyone know exactly what colors the studio (Golem?) used when painting the Forge Father Steel Warriors/ Forge Guard?

Now showing Wasteland Weirdos for TNT and zombies for Dungeon Saga!

Painting total as of 22 July 2025: 99 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

That's been asked elsewhere and not answered TMK. If you're on facebook I'd ask David Symonds on the Deadzone or Mantic Fanaits page. He might be able to find out and he's on there often enough.
