So they say it won't be limited...

But they sent their retailers a mail saying otherwise.

I can't imagine that it is NOT limited.

If you can buy 2 for 165 including a scenery piece, the individual models will not sell at all anymore.

This will be a revenue boost, not a profit boost for GW.

Yet, we already can see this every day with some of the Start Collecting! boxes, where you pay a few currencies more for a big thing (Mortarch, Lizardmen thing, ...) and get the other stuff for free.

Given the production costs aren't really all that significant, a revenue boost would more than likely result in a profit boost too.

Apart from them still selling no doubt this could simply be GW's idea of cheapening army costs without lowering price of individual boxes(as was hinted in one of the reports by new CEO). Yeah it does leave oddities but since GW's policy seems to be no price decreases...Leaves just bundles.

Multiple models from the army. Free formation included. Heavily discounted. So this is basically a Start Collecting Imperial Knights box, then?

REALLY hope they expand this to stompas, WKs, Heirophants etc.

I don't see stompas being done for this, but Orkanauts and Wraithknights 'flat image' already exist. I already did some home-brew datasheets for them myself; I can see if I can find them.

Okay, that's frigging awesome.

How much information does WD 115 have on the game? I went to pick it up from my shop, and it was totally sold out. I'm teetering on the fence for the game. About to fall into the "Oh God, buy big stompy robot game that looks like it's a cross between Warhammer and Battletech!!!"

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not much, since the battle rep was written more like a story than an actual explanation of the rules.

No wonder canada has been in a freaking snowstorm for the past two months, hell froze over (and it's apparently under Ontario)!

Right under Sudbury, most probably.

I'm totally excited for this, but I hope it doesn't sell out too quick! I mean, I don't need a Knight let alone two, but I will probably get this at some point.

Basically, enough to let us know the rules are extremely similar (if not identical) to Godbreaker Clash from when the Stormsurge was released but no more.
There's a hit chart for each model, weapons knock point off of locations, you can nominate specific target areas and can miss if a glancing blow scatters into empty space.

If you're getting 115 just for rules, get it for the B@C scenario with the teleporters, which is awesome.

It is strange they have put so many Orruk items onto one week's preorder list. They havent done this for a long time. My guess is they will offer rules for 'Nauts to use in IKR, as already mentioned.

This way they can let people buy the AoS models over several weeks but also keep the 40k crowd busy with playing IKR. Eldar the week after? Tau?

Stompas and Lords of Skulls, although they would be interesting and welcome opponents for IKR, seem to be of a different weight class. Not saying it wouldnt make sense but at least in 40k they cost double the points.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also IKR was called a Core Game on the leaked GW order list last week - which could be a hint it will get supplemental content, at least via WD Weekly and/or online.

Well, looking at the Orks codex, Orkanauts are only walkers so they'd be extremely vulnerable to Knights, and you only get 1.5 per Knight. I think it'll maybe be a way for 2 Orkanoughts to fit a single knight, as a single knught would easily overpower them, considering their strongest gun is Str 8 and their CC is 10, while the Knight has Thermal cannons and Str D attacks.

If anything, it will be up for a while. Just like BaC, Deathwatch and Officio Ass. are still available to purchase unlike the Imperial Space Marine which was clearly labelled as "LIMITED" on the description.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Absolutely! And to be fair, if you looked at the website for The Regimental Standard?

Clicking on "Find Out More" links you to the "Renegade" boxed game.

True, but it is the most likely source of where GW borrowed the idea from, wouldn't be the first time they've been "Inspired" by SST

If FW sold there Magaera and Styx Knights as upgrade packs instead of full kits I'd be getting at least one copy of this. As it is I already have enough Knights in various states of assembly.

Yes it's called common English you should try it. This is NOT limited quantities. This is a limited release.
Which means GW will continue print runs if they feel each run will sell out Just like they do with every board game.
I don't know how you can misunderstand this as it's exactly what I stated before.
Execution force is on direct only as they are no longer producing any more manufacturing runs. It is not selling enough anymore contrary to your prior claim it being a permanant product.

Or could it be that they are cycling out what is on the shelves due to the fact GW stores have a very limited shelf space. Hence why you generally can't get Black Library's entire range at GW stores or why certain kits are direct only in the first place? Could it be they're utilising common business practices? Could they be doing just that? SHOCKING.

Oh, and gungo old chap.

I hope this helps!

It's called common English. If a product is not marked as Limited (for example, Space Hulk, Dreadfleet, The Void Shield Generator terrain piece, the Anniversary Space Marine) then it is indeed NOT limited. Stop trying to infer that it is. This is basic reading comprehension. This is your understanding of the term 'limited'. Or would you like to argue that the Orruk models coming out next week are also limited for the same reasons that you are claiming this is limited?

I mean, if you want to go that way technically everything GW produce is limited.

Guess you better go buy ten of everything to stick on ebay later.

Good points. Regarding 40k maybe the 'Nauts will get the same treatment as the Wraithknight in a future Codex, who was a MC in 6th edition and didnt have access to D weapons until the Craftworld book. As the Renegade game has its own rules, GW could change the Nauts' profiles already. But you are correct, Knights are much better. And they would have to either enhance them ruleswise or find other balancing mechanics like 1vs2 missions.

GW has been very vague and contradictory on product shelf life as of late. It benefits them to be that way, so you run out and buy it NOW! Knights is a core product, whatever that means. Until it isn't any more. At some point decided by GW, which may be three months or 3 years from now.

To be fair, the only people saying it's "limited" are independent retailers.

Nothing against them--but it could be that it's intended to be a splash release to them and then shift to a "core" item at their own shops.
