And the author got scolded pretty hard for that if I remember. Greater GW/BL tried to walk that back later.

I hope they see that it can be a plus to embrace it as it fits some of the other BL book fluff and fits logically. Now that they made a blood Ravens figure they have given the fans something I just want 20+ more shoulder pads asap

hjonestly GW just outta shurg, accept it, and continue laying some hints. hell towards the end of the HH series when it's time to address the second founding, do a book about the blood ravens orgins. it'd proably be a best seller.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

A friend of mine did a custom space marine chapter a few years back and had some custom bird shoulder pads cast for him. Fortunately he has a few left over and I will be getting some from him today. I will post a pic later!

There was a version that was corrected by the editor and was on its way to the publisher when the Blood Ravens stole it.

They're a pretty cool chapter. You could tell by the results that THQ really did love the setting and the hobby, so it's obvious the hobby loves them back.

They had an awesome theme in DoW2 too:

I just hope that the BR deathwatch model is a sign of things to come. (To play them I steal ultramarine rules so I can have a kick ass caster)

IIRC there is also a couple of books that were released to give info on the Blood Ravens chapter.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Dawn_of_War_(Novel_Series)

Apparently there are 4 of them. I think I read 3 of them but not the last.

I think they centre on Chaos vs Blood Ravens with both orks and Eldar making an appearance (Eldar team with BR to foil the plans of Chaos.) I think there is also some inquisition and Necron in there too. The first book roughly follows the PC game timeline but gives a lot more info. Then it sort of tails off into other things.

IIRC they were ok books with a bit of betrayal and a couple of twists. I enjoyed them when I read them back in the day.

Good luck

If its the series by CS Goto, avoid at all costs. It has be debunked by BL as entirely fanfiction and is some of the worst writing ever. Featuring Rhino, Razorbacks and Land Raiders tag teaming into the story on the fly (one minute they are in a Rhino, the next a Land Raider), backflipping Terminators and Multilaser space marines.

If it includes Chris Roberson's novel of DoW2, sure. Its a bit bland but it follows the story well, and nothing like Goto's fethed up fantasy world.

I was thinking about using an ultramarine librarious to get access to Tiggy for this reason.

I never understood why GW didn't support them better. It was a golden opportunity to try and draw in some new blood from the people who played the game.

At a minimum they should have put out a bunch of limited run special characters at the release of each game. An upgrade kit would have been even better.

If a legit Blood Ravens supplement dropped I'd be all over it like hair on the neck of TFG. But I'd also be dissappointed due to already converting a Gabe Angelos model using Arjac and Lysander rules (so Lysander would be forced out of my army).

That said, a legit Gabe, Thaddeus, Avitus, Tarkus, all go straight into my army immediately.

Ah hell yeah if they made a Blood Ravens chapter models/rules I would have to get them. My only Imperium faction I would ever make other than the DW.

So I am sure someone here can help me out. I haven't read all the books nor played all the dawn of war games fully. If we clipped Blood Ravens out of the current state of 40k.. who would be their "main" leaders characters that you could see being ICs in your force?

Do they still have chaplains? I would assume so... do you see any specific restrictions on what they might field in combat. for example.. they wouldn't have land raiders.. or... maybe they have only dedicated transports or fast vehicles....

Thanks guys!

They are pretty codex compliant but for one aspect, which is a super high concentration of psykers, so they have more Librarians. They also rever psykers because the revere no Primarch as they don't know, a former Cheif Librarian become chapter master, known as Great Father Azariah Vidya, who led them to great victories at their inception.

As such, Chapter Master is usually also Chief Librarian, and marines like Captains and Sergeants can also be Psykers, become Lexicanum Captains and Codicer Sergeants.
