There will be some joints where the glue will inevitably have to do some of the hard work - socketed joints on arms in the vertical are the usual culprits; as smooth metal pins offer less resistance to pulled or twisted forces so setting the whole socket is important.

A small tube of two part epoxy resin/glue is best for this - I've had some Araldite for nearly 20 years and its still going strong as you use very little. Its a bit messy what with having to mix it and it smells to high heaven but will hold most things instantly (important for heavy resin parts) and for a strong bond in a way the even gel superglues just don't.

Good luck BC!

Yeah, the shoulder sockets are not a joy to contemplate. I'm hopefully magnetising some parts like arms, but I'm unsure.

I've found on occasion that it's easier to drill a pin hole through from the outside, then fill it over with Milliput than trying to drill from inside the cavity. It can also be done with the other piece in situ, so it all lines up properly.

This thread just popped up on Dakka's Facebook feed, congrats! Only just started and already a popular enough thread to warrant a spotlight!

No pressure right?

I think that's because it managed to get featured twice. (P&M and Plogs) due to being moved. :S

I've got a small update but need to sync my phone rather than subject you to sideways pictures.

My hate for FW kits not withstanding, I wish you luck Buttery, this truly sounds like a project, that when finished, will be one for the books.

Also, I read your other thread about the Aquila...if your cat gets anywhere near this titan you have the authorization from the High Lords to initiate Aqua-Bottle Exterminatus.

Buttery has known this for a long time. Way back when the Aquila was "sanctified," by the cat.

Speaking of Gaunt, I may see if I can sneak a Tanith sniper into the base amongst the trees.

I dare say you could have the Tanith sniper 'sneaking' right out in the open on that base and 90% of people looking at the finished product won't even notice the sniper because of the ruddy-great Reaver Titan standing there.

I suspect that may well be the case. Doesn't mean I won't go all out on hiding critters in there.

So far I have:
Kroothawk for the hand
A falcon
Two old wolves from Leman Russ (Rogue Trader era)
Bloat Toad
An Iron Hawk

And I'm on the hunt for critters.

Subscribed! Also, my condolences - I build a trio of Ordinatus engines recently and they were a joy to build, but they're tanks, which means that they're much easier to build. We should share our resin cast-offs and make an entire city of trapezoids.

Didn't citadel make a metal fox too, or was it HF? I could totally see you doing that and attempting to make small teeny tiny butterflies.

The Brettonian Peasant Archer boxset includes many animals including a snail, a rat and a frog and there might be an owl too.

If you really want animals there's a huge range of them at Wargames Foundry Miniatures. No birds though...?

They've got to be Citadel animals.
I want to one day take it to whw for a painty contest, and I don't want to get ruled out due to having third party kittens.

Definitely. I'm probably going to make some squirrels.

Got the other leg cleaned last night, time to actually do some dry building.
