You'll get your turtles when I get some sharks!

Which is to say, when Rob realizes it's the right thing to do...

I'm tempted to pick up one of those. 25 for the thrower and crew isn't bank breaking, and all the guys I have on order are swordlizards I believe... hmmm.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Ha!

Rob's on record on this one already - I'll be getting my Turtles (eventually) whereas you'll never be getting your sharks!

Sorry!

Cryptic good news then. Found this on the website. Looks like Rob has been sneakily updating things

With his brother Baalor forgetting his debt to the sea, it is Conand that dominates beneath the waves from his fortress in Doggard. A Fíorfomor of the abyssal deeps, Conand rarely ventures to the surface and to the land, yet needs captives and food for his kin: and so he sends his anglers, his crab-men and his whale-men and his gill-men, to plunder the towns along the coasts and to pull ships beneath the waves. Many believe Conand a greater threat than Baalor, for at least the Eye in the Ice is tied to one place, threatening as it is - but Conand's realm is extensive and unknowable, at least to those upon the land, for all sea-farers and coast-dwellers know that his warriors cannot be seen or predicted until it is too late. All should fear Conand, for he is the true devil that lurks in the seas.

I figured with the slow and steady trickle of more fishy fomoriac forces to the fray more picscine- based humanoids would be an inevitability.

Whale- men ahoy! I'd be down for a few. They could play nice with my Dark Mariners, Hadross, and Gibbering Hordes...

It's the first update of 2019 for Darklands: Mighty Monsters Part Deux, and Yannick Fusier has got himself another Ograx Reiver done...

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Yannick Fusier;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's crack on...

Just the one miniature to show today, although we'll show the rest of the unit of Ograx Reivers for completeness and because we love them.

The lovely Yannick Fusier has been working further on the Konraad's Mob, Ograx Reiver Unit and it is worth stating that We Believe They Are Quite Simply The Best Ogre Miniatures Ever in the history of the world.

Ever.

The champion of the unit, Konraad is complete.

Look at the size of that chopper!

The banner bearer, Maanfrad, is not done yet, but here's his concept so you know what he'll look like.

Don't forget his warrior alter-ego, either -

- Fraad! He'll be done once we've cast Maanfrad up.

Kaarl was done a while back and, to be honest, he's got the biggest horn we've ever seen.

Here's the concept of his warrior version:

He'll be called Aarlo! He'll be done once we've cast Kaarl up.

The newest member of the unit, Aalric, is now done!

Look at the size of that fuel tank for a love machine!

Again, Ottaa was done a while back but he's still awesome and worth another view.

Yannick assures me he's started Maanfrad, so again I am hopeful they will be done fairly soon. The sticking point will be the alternates of the banner bearer / herald, and of course Shieldwall Aadolf, but I can get the five others (and Aadolf) moulded and cast for those who've ordered just those.

I'm hopeful of a April shipment, but I was hopeful of a February shipment, so we'll see...

What's Next?

Our Bob Płociennik will be sculpting the Sentinels, Kerberokolossos Unit (like the new name?) as well as the Leiptrolls, but Yannick Fusier - once he's completed the alternates of Aadolf and the Ograx Reiver unit - will do Murcunn and the Oghu Wardens, Oghureach Unit. Uuroch will probably go to Bob as Yannick is... not quick. The results are definitely worth it though...

Really awesome. Aalric really looks like he should come with a companion miniature of some poor guy cowering and about to get squish-thunked,

We have another update for Darklands: Starter Hosts II and with the news that the Werwulfas will be shipping shortly (so you'd better order them if you haven't already), here's another bit of Leofwen to show...

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Jamie Phipps;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here's some...

The Anglecynn have had some real love in this project, so be prepared to love this miniature in return...

Jamie Phipps has been cracking on with Leofwen and she's really taking shape now!

Methinks Wave 26 will be her wave...

What's Next?

Jamie will be carrying on with Leofwen, and after her we'll get him to do Annik as he did such a good job on Seza. Bob will be doing Cynemon, Birna and the Wælwulfas at some point soon. I'm very hopeful of bringing this project to a close in the summer (in terms of miniatures sculpted, anyway).

Wahey ! There's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes II this week, thanks to Bob Płociennik of course, who has actually come down with a dose of the man-flu so there's not that much. What there is, however, is awesome.

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Bob Płociennik;
•a link to the forums where you can see this project's fulfilment;
•a reminder that if you play Darklands, head to our forums to find more players!
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's have a look at some...

Two miniatures to show today, for the Byzantii, one a resculpt!

Thanks to the Sagittarius Quintus Crito miniature funded by this project, we thought we may as well get Bob to do that digitally and thus give us the chance of resculpting Quintus Crito himself. Here's the result!

...and so here's the aforementioned archer version, Sagittarius Quintus Crito!

There will also be a bareheaded version with parma (round) shield shortly.

He should be an April shipment!

Again, he should be an April shipment, and a bare head option. Note that he should have a parma shield on his back, that's just not shown yet. Bob's poorly so he's not had time to sort it.

One day we'll do those Legionaries again... ahem.

What's Next?

Same as last time really: next up for Bob is Medusel the Gorgór and Vulcanus the Demimagus. Then it's the Rogue-Drunes for him. Yannick Fusier may or may not do the Walvax Netters... Stéphane Camosseto is working on the Shieldwall Reivers... and then this project is fully sculpted!

I meant I like to use miniatures for a game system they are designed for and the fluff has to be on point. In this, case the game system fluff names are kak, just a personal preface. Unfortunately I don't speak welsh or Gaelic so this is a bit lost on me probably.

However with warlord of erehown being a thing my local club is liking a lot I can get some minis from Mierce *rubs hands vigorously* and call them whatever I want and it doesn't mess with my OCD..

I did wonder that myself, but the WoE lists seem to be mostly infantry and cavalry which doesn’t seem to suit the array of Ogre-sized models in the Mierce range.

I noticed Mierce have another sale in the form of a BOGOF on select metal units. Which is great but also makes me a little wary as this is now the third sale this year I think - monster sale, pre order these Lizardmen half price and now this one. And... I mean sales are great. I don't have any Mierce metals but the resins I own are fantastic and I'm sad the game isn't up to much at the moment.

However things seem a little weird to someone not invested heavily. Lots of sales, kickstarters for stuff like pint glasses? That makes me a little twitchy. Like Maelstrom Games closing twitchy.

I'm not an expert nor am I accusing or implying anything. I'm just wondering if it's safe to place an order for these items without my purchase vanishing into the ether and if the successive Mierce kickstarter model has run out of financial steam? Any long term fan know what's going on?

They have been running a sale as soon as one sale finishes, they have been doing it for quite sometime now, imo it doesnt look good, a healthy company shouldnt be doint that sort of thing

"Sales" are the 2019 "Kickstarters" for Mierce.

They haven't had a 'real' Kickstarter in some time now, so they've got to do something to drum up interest/excitement/sales.

I know the regularity did start to get "out of hand" with the MASSIVE backlog of minis that need doing. I get that Mierce hasnt run KS in a while and hasnt had a "big" cash injection lately but running these sales one after the other isnt great business wise, like someone said earlier in this thread why buy full price retail when the mini "you" want will be in various sales over the year and often cheaper than the KS price, looking at you orc warlord on wyvern, KS price was £50 inc 2 riders and Sale price was £40 inc 2 riders(not sure if i should have got the 2nd like the KS backers).

I love most of Mierces minis and dont want them going anywhere and one of my highlights of Salute is seeing the minis "in the flesh". From a buyers perspective these sales are great and when i can afford it il support Rob through those and the occasional full price purchase when funds allow. Rob is a businessman so he should know what hes doing!

Oh absolutely, I would have been MUCH better off saving my money, and buying exactly the same miniatures after release on any of their sales events...costs less, and arrive pretty much the same time.
STILL waiting to even see the sculpt for Uuroch,,,,2 1/2 years later...

That is insane - makes the mammoth so much better!!

Is it a kit people could add to existing mammoths, or are the pieces integrated? Those chains could really benefit from the latter, of course... but an add-on kit of just the howdah without chains seems like it might be popular

Integrated, no upgrade. The mammoth body needs the straps etc sculpted onto it.

It cooould be done as an add-on kit, but I agree the accuracy needed to fit the parts to the body would be tricky to accomplish!

However, if it was designed as an add-on from the get go, well....you know what I mean...

One more question occured to me:

Was the original mammoth hand or digitally sculpted?

If the former, it almost looks like it was 3D scanned above in order to get the geometry. The problem is, that can lead to soft detail - comparing the original armor rivets to the new ones, or the original eye symbol on his shoulder to the new ones, etc.

If this is the case, it still might turn out totally awesome, but the more I've looked at it the more I've thought this looks likely (and if the parts are truly integrated, how else would you do it, really?).

Anyway, it's super interesting how they're doing this, regardless. Looking forward to seeing it cast!

They did a 3D scan to import it. As you noted, it does have rough detail and is probably why they'll need someone to sculpt it into the Mammoth by hand.
