How do their new human sized figures measure up? Previously the scale was all over the place, and on the small side. I have the original holumenn, teulu, duguth, etc and they are like 28mm historical range small.

I want to say that the holumenn and duguth have been redone for that reason, but would like confirmation from someone paying more attention.

The 3D sculpted Norsemen and Ysians I've painted seemed much more in line with current standard sizes than the older resins.

Or it could just be my personal tastes made me grab all the larger, chunkier figures.

I can try snapping some photos later.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

They started scaling them up pre-3D Sculpted era too. I grabbed a Erainn axe unit which was the first from the faction and paired it up to an Albainn Crossbowman (cat hair to scale) which was right before they started resculpting old stuff in 3d. You can see the Albainn is bigger (noted that both of these are metal versions). and the box behind them is about 2" tall. The most recent human I have from them is the Hyenna handlers from last year and they're the same size of the Albainn. Couldn't find any bluetac so I don't have one in the photo as they're all unassembled.

There are smaller figures then that Erainn as well. I've got some really old Formoric and Brythoniaid (especially the females) that make the Erainn look much bigger then it is but they're burred away somewhere as I don't think I'll ever paint such small resin figures. So I'm pretty sure the current size is the 2nd scale increase they've done.

Yeah, that was my choice, sorry lol. I tend to do that for creatures as a visual shorthand to show that they're not quite as evolved as humans even though they share a similar silhouette.

Also, my buddy is going insane as he wants those bears and is trying to find out which kidney he no longer needs.

That aside, I'm really glad that Mierce is scaling up a lot of their miniatures...as my eyes seem to keep getting older.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I just succumbed to the resin madness again and bought a whole lot of beasties from Mierce during their recent half off sale.
Even with half off my bank balance screamed in pain as I wilfully abused it leeching it to its limit for over a week before relief.
Couldnt even go out and buy milk.
It's worth it though, my bills were paid, now been food shopping and some gorgeous models are on my table.
Been assembling a trio of giant scorpions, they look real good.

I can always housesit for someone and then sell the house for more giant scorpions.

I can always eat out of the freezer, and use powdered milk, so no excuse not to get giant scorpions. And we all know that doubting whether I get around to finishing them is not a valid consideration, milk or no milk. Besides they were actually reasonably priced for Mierce, so half price made them bargains. Main problem I had was they they had double stingers. But they were easily convertable without harming quality, done one already and it looks better now.
The anatomy is also not correct in other ways, but its a giant monster so it can differ from the natural creature. I kept the teeth.

These come on 60mm bases to give an indication of scale I am rebasing onto clear plastic bases of the same size.

It was the Chimera and Manticore which were true luxury buys. But that Chimera, wow, it's a very nice model, and bigger than most of my dragons.

This requires a 100mm minimum and preferably a 120mm base. The mini is not involved with its base so I can give it a plain clear plastic base as per most of my monsters. However for such a gorgeous model I wonder if 'going cheap' on basing actually fits here. Genuinely torn on this.

That Chimera was probably one of the first sculpts I recognized as Mierce's, and it continues to blow me away. Big ups on the scorp crew too!

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I don't normally buy resin, or expensive single minis, and I am careful what I buy due to a fairly limited budget. Though while I do make large purchases but all are well researched beforehand and costed out. Milk or no milk; and bills come first.
But this is the fourth time I have bought Mierce stuff, in all cases due to a combo of half price sale (wouldn't touch it otherwise) and because they have something new or better that I can use.

My first purchase was the Nurgle Daemon Prince. As it was a signature character mini for a Nurgle Daemon army I could justify the cost. I had a mental block on paying for resin, but had a monocult Nurgle daemon army.
So I had a dilemma, have an army of models what were nearly all the same or go resin. So I made the plunge and started buying expensive resin. First I got some plague Toads from minimonsters.eu and went to Mierce to buy an "expensive" daemon prince. Though this is one of the first resin minis I bought, outside of some 'Finecast' I only recently assembled it, as I was getting around to doing the Nurgle army. Very tall, very brutal and fits a 75x75mm base. I also have the new GW Great Unclean One so I have thrown the Chaos Daemons bases sizes guide out of the window.

Then later I came back for an oversized Orc Wyvern. Slightly more of a luxury because I had a GW orc wyvern and this new one doesnt fit the proper base. But it was again a signiture miniature for a whole army so I bought it.

My third purchase was some ratties. I got them for RPG fodder rather than Warhammer, but I trusted Mierce by now, and it was a combo deal at an intro price. GW would have charged about the same for plastic, so I bit.

All the above was a single item on the sale. The giant rats are based on clear plastic as with 99% of my RPG collection. This was a problem for the rat swarms. I left them as they were but did not use the baes they came with. I am deciding between a thin plasticard base to fit, or some felt underlay. I will need to base them so they last though.
I have a mixed bag feeling on the rat swarms, some are better than others. Too big for WHFB rat swarms unless you decide to take 50x50mm bases, but they do look better. I might get more for my new Skaven army, but rat swarms arent much good frankly.

Then I came back for more RPG stuff and Warhammer bits just this last fortnight, blew all my money (post bills) to take advantage of the sale plus free shipping. Thisd was rtechnically two purchases, one of just over £100 for the free shipping, and another of just under another ton to add to it.

The Chimera and Scorpions mentioned above. Plus:

Wolves are staple intro monsters. It is kind of perverse that I am buying luxury quality basic monsters but using cheap plastic giants and trolls. But I am building a stable of a wide range of generic fantasy OPFOR for my games and wolves are a must have, and while wolf miniatures are very common there are surprisingly few decent sculpts and those that do exist don't mix together well to make a pack.
I wondered whether to get five wolves or ten, five wolves is a perfectly reasonable wolf pack, and I dont see the reason to up that just to provide a challenge. They are either a minor challenge to a low level party or as 'garnish' of monster accompanying something nastier.

I do have some buyers remorse over this one, it is big, bigger than it should be and I should have just relied on the Nolzur's manticore which is cheap and a very good sculpt. As the lion is properly proportioned it should be closer to lion size. I feel the same about the chimera frankly but that model was just so gorgeous I have wanted it for a long while, and will have an alt base for it as the Mountain Chimera from 8th which is nastier than most dragons.

I added these as Salamanders for my lizardman army, a box I had yet to tick. I never liked GW salamanders and while there are some viable models on bay, I liked these better and the sale price was good.

Closer to the old school Verminlord in size, so appropriate for both 8th and 6th. I prefer it to the new GW sculpt as that is too busy, and the old one, which is too small.
I recently started my Skaven army project, having put it off for years. It will likely be my last WHFB army and will be collected slowly over time due to cost of aquiring ratties nowadays. The above Mierce rats with exception of the priest will remain based as RPG miniatures, most of the army will be GW stock from eBay.
I like Skaven and they are fun, but baulked at collecting them. But I have dwarfs and I have O&G, so I really ought to get rats. Got some good deals already and topped them with this.

Finally I added a dog. PC pet option. Cost £3 so I shrugged and got him. Most of my PC miniatures are Fireforge and Frostgrave with some Warhammer and Gripping Beast plastics. If a character lasts through their intro I let my players access to a jumble of sprues of the above and let them model their own character. I ask for serious poses only and usually get them. All this only really works for humans and half elves and some elves, though I picked up some Wargames Atlantic hobbit sprues and have left over Warhammer bitz.
Thing is the PC miniatures are cheap bitzbashes whereas the 'throw in' wardog they can buy for 10 gold in the local town is a luxury model.

That pretty much covers it. Though I am likely to be back for a few pieces.

This caught my eye. Bit like Odin.

Also:

Because players character dont suffer enough. I might just get one though.

Will also pick up this at some point, for pretty much the same reason.

I might buy a Jabberwock, probably not, might not buy a Hydra, probably will, but will get ents, bears and boars cheaper elsewhere. So almost done.

Some nice minis there Orlanth!

Most of my Mierce stuff is sitting in the Shed of Shame, still. I've bought a fair few of their human-ish dark ages-ish warriors, almost always in the metals. And most of their wights, which are such gorgeous sculpts. Talos and one or two of the more Jason & the Argonauts type foes. Midden-beasts. Couple of their resin miscast packs... And I think that's about it? But I've not finished painting any, yet. :(

A collection of bits where the resin casting has gone wrong, mould slip and bubbles, plus breaks,

generally they're not keeping and passing on total trash, if you're a experienced modeler (or not fussed about mould slip) you'll do very well from them

There may well be a bias towards a few models as they get made up as they cast, and if they're casting, for example goz horrors, then you'll likely see several examples in a pack but there's usually enough of a mix to make it interesting

I think this was one of the Albaiin packs I picked up (the only photo I've got on the laptop)… actually the highest risk kindred as the giant which I've got a couple of sets of legs from isn't much use for anything other than making the giant, but still worth it for the other bits. The really huge stuff in most of the other kindred is monster torsos which are far easier to work into conversions

and remember that you can buy bits from mierce so you may be able to buy the bits to complete something next time you order

Yeah it's pretty random. I had some really good stuff including bog beast type torsos from one, which I think with some conversion will make for some great demonic or "evil Earth spirit" forces. Another included a lot of dragon wings... most of them one side (left, I think) which was MUCH less useful! Just meant I ended up adding the relevant right wings to the next order.

I can be ok with a giant I need to do work on; but two sets of giant legs and no body, that is just asking me to chuck it in the bin rather than them.

Missing arms, ok, just arms, no. I cant even make chaos spawn with this crap.

I don't think I will bother.

I was expecting near complete models, or models with a flaw

Yes, most of what you get will be incomplete

although on rare occasions I've had enough bits in a single bag to make a complete mini (usually a human sized figure which is all on a single casting block so if one bit goes wrong the whole thing gets junked)

Those bags can be amazing...I got a couple of Infernii bags years ago and ended up with 4 mostly intact Krull torsos and a bunch of arms and legs (I think it was 8 Left legs?). Anyhow, after placing an order for about 70 quid in parts,I have enough correct parts to assemble a pair of winged and a pair of wingless demons.

I just need time and inspiration to get to it.

I've bought 3-4 for them and I got at least one complete model in everyone (including monsters) but I realize it can be random and I've been lucky. I use the humans and pretty much anything in the atlantian bags to make statues both standing and crumbling as this type of resin is great for that.
