The Silent King has backups of the control codes, but will only use them as an absolute last resort.

Trazyn the Infinite could easily heal Guilliman within that stasis field, and would do so if begged for a suitably enormous reward.

My Little piece of Head Cannon is about the lost Primarchs.

They have been described as the Lost, and the Forgotten. I don't like the idea that they simply fell to Chaos like the other Primarchs, because if that were so, why were they so fully wiped from history? Even Horus still has his name written down somewhere. I'm thinking maybe they went against the Emperor in a more personal way, less corrupted by the epitome of Evil.

The Lost, describes an philosophically lost Primarch, one so far beyond redemption that he is lost forever. This Primarch, instead of landing on Random Human World #1001, landed on an Alien world. A peaceful one, but an Alien one none the less. He grew, much like the other Primarchs, having a story and a tyrant to overthrow. Eventually, Emperor shows up, and looks upon his Son with disgust. How dare he live with these Xenos. He welcomes his lost Son back, but under the condition that he helps them wipe out his adopted family and join the Imperium. Naturally, Son refuses, and a war happens. Maybe the Son's Legion joined the side of their Primarch, maybe not. It only ends with the world aflame, a bitter and dead Primarch, and potentially an entire Legion. Sickened by the death he has had to wrought, the Emperor strikes this Son's name from history, while the other Primarchs swear a vow over the body of their lost brother to never speak of this day again.

The Forgotten, is one who disgraces his name and his blood. Not like his failed Brother, who wrongly fought for his world and his adopted family. This Brother did not fight at all. He lands on a world, maybe a Death World, maybe a Hive World. But a world none the less. When the Emperor arrives on this world, ready to greet his missing Son, he is not met by a Conqueror or majestic ruler, he is instead greeted by a King, who is very much Human. Searching the city, he finds his Son simply being Human. Working as a farmer, a builder, something. Or maybe not even alive at all, maybe he passed a few years earlier, not at the feet of some vicious ruler but in a ditch by the side of the road. The Emperor finds this Son, and tells him that it is time for him to put down his tools and to rule the galaxy with him. But the Son refuses. He wants no Grand life, he does not want to burn worlds and subjugate the people. He cares not for the sword or the gun. He wants to live. Or perhaps he is a Coward, he does wants to do nothing more then hide and flee. Forced to take his place at the head of the Legion, The Forgotten Son is ordered to conquer a world nearby, to burn the fields and to lay waste to any who disobey his father. Torn between acts of violence, and facing down his father and the rest of Mankind, he does what comes naturally. He flees. Taking his legion, he fled into the Warp, heading in an unknown direction and vanishing completely. Disgraced at their brothers cowardice and disbelief in the Empire of Mankind, the remaining Primarchs once again vow never to speak of this brother, out of shame and embarrassment at having failed to get through to him.

So yeah, explains why the Lost Primarchs were so thoroughly wiped from history, while the Chaos 9 still remain on lists.

Adeptus Astartes - Imperial Fists
Blood Angels - Archangels of The Storm
Cult Mechanicus - Agripinaa
Imperial Knights - House Hawkshroud

Little bit of a thread resurrection, but I feel it's worth it for this one

The majority of BL stories/ridiculous fluff are recounted to you by a random drunkard/lunatic you met in the pub.

There may well be a grain of truth in what he's saying, but the more unrealistic things are the ravings of a wasted madman:

Random drunk bloke, starting a conversation without any invitation: 'Didjuknow, thish one time myy mate met a bloke from deffwotch who shaid that hish kill team onsh shtopped Eldude Ulfran or sumfink from draining all eldude shoulss into sum planet to reshurrect their god or sumfink...'

You: 'Yes random stranger, that sounds completely believable. Can you leave me alone now because you smell like urine'.

Makes me feel a lot better

So all those guys poking out of hatches, they're honorary marines, and probably don't have legs.

No one is going to waste a fully able-bodied marine manning a tank.

This is partially true, in the ultramarines series there are wounded marines whose damage (I believe one of them took extensive damage to his lungs and legs) was insufficient for bionics/dreadnought internment but enough to hamper combat effectiveness. They still wear power armor and have marine gear but are relegated to garrison duty or administrative staff (remember marines are superhumanly smart as well). When the (former?) marine's city is attacked, he exhibits some difficulty fighting "like he used to" and ends up getting pasted.

Exactly!

"Yes you mad old coot, and you're 10,000 years old alongside Eldrad, despite the fact that humans live to ~150 and Eldar to 1000-2000"

Saying that, I though the whole point about the age of strife was that it was a pretty crap time where humanity's empire pretty much disintegrated because they couldn't use warp travel reliably.

Prior to that, I'm assuming they had something like Pharos-lite beacons, or Astropath choirs like Rogue Traders use at the fringes of the astronomican.

Perfect

My personal headcanon for Draigo is that he's definitely a real Astartes that was dragged into the warp.

However, he's spent so long in the warp he's basically a raving lunatic. Whenever he gets spat back into the materium, he rants and raves to anyone who will listen about the fantastical deeds he's accomplished, all of which are complete figments of his deranged imagination

Yeah that's a good way of looking at it too feels very Sisyphean.

No matter what he does, no matter how many daemons he slays, no matter how many times he carves his name onto daemon prince's hearts, it's all futile.

I'm pretty sure that that's how Mat(t) Ward intended it to be. He's not great at conveying his ideas though.

Interesting, and I could definitely see that being the case but people took it at face value and the hate's grown from that.

Huh, so headcanon is actual canon (as far as canon is a thing in 40k)

*Sigh*
Draigo never carved his name onto Mortarion.

He carved his predecessor's name because that specific name, in written form, acts as a warding rune against Mortarion manifesting again.

They would have had to have been quelled pretty damn quickly and quietly, especially given the apparent ignorance of Chaos amongst most Astartes in most other Legions (and even ignorance amongst the other Primarchs apparently). The vibe I got from the False Gods novel was the Horus didn't even know the Chaos Gods existed and I don't think it's a stretch to think the same is true for most (if not all) of the other Primarchs. This is why I always thought that either or both of the two lost Legions turning to Chaos was always a bit of an iffy idea.

This started as a joke while speaking witha friend but my own personal headcannon for nids it's they are a side effect of a malfunctioning Old one vessel.

Somewhere in the War in Heaven a single Old one was on the verge of annihilation from the necrons so he made a desperate attempt to get away (risky warp jump, breach in the webway use side effects of weaponry whatever) So his vessel is displaced several Galaxies away and due the damage/wounds sustained it get's himself in some kind of cryostasis/support mode on a similar situation as the Emperor in the golden throne

The vessel reacts by trying to fix/repair him but the wounds sustained are so great and the whole system it's stuck in a recover viable biomass/annihilate foreign aggresions hence why the nids are in that non-stop consuming frenzy without further purpouse. It also explains why the silent king went beyond the galaxy (he still had a track/location on the Old one vessel) and when it found i's status went NOPE and returned to stop it.

I love this!

Makes me wonder if these honorary battle brothers can end up in command of the armored units when the space marines dismount and fight. I would think they would need some sort of rank identifier, but that just makes me wonder if any of the Chapters have decided that it makes sense to have armored units, aerial units, non-space marine infantry, and specialty troops and fight as a combined arms unit instead of heavily armored shock troopers. Even if they didn't go that far, would any of the Chapters have made deals with IG commanders so that X Regiment and Y Aerospace Wing are used habitually with that Chapter?

In my head cannon, there will be 15 humans that fight against Chaos in the final battle. One is the Emperor, one is Sharrowkin, one is Rylanor, Ferrus and Fulgrim, Jerune Kanshell and several others are there and so is Dante

Sharrowkin is me, thus simultaneously the god Apollo and emperor Augustus reincarnated, and will defend the reborn Emperor in the final battle against Chaos and will stand beside Him when the gods finally kill the Master of Mankind. I will then kill Nurgle, while Ferrus and Fulgrim killSlaanesh. Rylanor will kill Horus' clones, and Dante will be the last one standing when we all die.
