I won't refuse to buy a model because the rules are bad.

I WILL refuse to buy a model with amazing rules if the model is too atrocious to stand looking at. (CoughcoughStormtaloncoughcough.)

At the moment anything CSM. Went for horus heresy anyway so it's not a bad thing. Just can not figure why anything CSM would be worth while.

Really? I think it looks pretty cool. Kinda like the Orca from C&C.

Hellions and Wyches are obvious. I have some, they look great, but I wont be buying anymore as they'll never see use.

Pyrovores, I really like their model but those rules. Though the Tyranocite may have actually made them somewhat more playable, there are still better options.

Trygon, sort of. I still bought the models but built them as Mawlocs because 50pts cheaper and a whole lot more effective.

Haruspex. Struggles to get into combat, struggles to do any damage in combat, build it as an Exocrine.

Part of me wants to get Ghazgkull (cool model) but he just seems like a triple costed Warboss. His 40 dollar price tag doesn't seem worth it at all.

Also why isn't there a regular warboss in mega armor model?
Or a warboss on bike?

I guess the answer to those questions is "sorry you play orks"

edit: I don't regret buying the morkanaut. I love the model and it was fun to paint and build. Looks menacing amongst my orks. "just get a stompa for 5 more dollars" well duh I'm ALSO going to get a stompa, but I like having many different size robots like russian stacking dolls

Possessed. Dear (chaos) lord the possessed. The rules are good and I like the formations in Crimson slaughter, but the models look like Warner bros cartoon villains.

For me, it's usually the opposite. I buy models for looks, not rules. Example: The Devastator Centurions are one of the most powerful units in the game right now, but I will never buy one. It's one of the dumbest looking models in the SM line.

Pretty much anything CSM. If I had to narrow it down to 1 unit, it'd be either 1k sons or Mutilators. Rules are steaming piles of crap, models are gak too.

I misread the title and thought it said sell.

In the case of buying. Oh well that's easy for Tau Vespids and the fighters which may now be even worse than the Vespids if DftS becomes mainstream.

As for Dark Eldar Wyches.

Edit
At some point I will grab one of everything but they are the lowest priorities i my codices.

Generally if I like the models I'll buy it anyway. BUT, I may only buy 1 of them if the rules are trash where as I want to buy more.

Raveners for example.

Well, I have 3 main armies:

Orks: I am aiming to get a unit of everything in the Codex. Right now, I'm missing a few. Official Kannons and Lobbas are great, but very expensive for their points so I may never own them. I don't really dig flyers all that much, so I don't have any of them. Nothing that I wouldn't get because it's bad though. I have a mob of 10 Flash Gitz, after all. Ok, maybe the Gorka/Morkanaut. I certainly wouldn't buy one of each.

Crimson Fists: Plenty of units I won't buy because I hate the look of them; Centurions, flyers. I would love a Thunderfire Cannon but I've heard it's a nightmare to assemble, so I've been holding off. Maybe the Hunter/ Stalker for a unit I won't buy because I don't know how good it is. Probably hypocritical with how many Land Raiders I own, but meh.

Space Wolves: I'm very iffy on the new Wulfen models, but again that's on the mini not the rule. I did actually recently take apart my Swiftclaw Bikers because of how bad they're reported to be.

Deff Dreads are my favorite looking unit in the ork codex, but they're walkers, ork ones at that, so they have all the problems of normal walkers with all the generic ork problems added on top. They're cheap, sure, but they won't get anywhere quick.

God I just want to build one though for the hell of it.

Mutilators... Tho- it's half because they suck and half because they are old and ugly models.
And as the guy above me said- Defiler... I LOVE this model, actually have a few of them.. But they suck so bad and never see the table.
Same with forgefiends, ultra expensive points wise for a BS3 shooting platform that doesn't really shoot that much... Rather just make another maulerfiend out of the kit.

Other people merely adopted 7th Edition. I was born into 7th Edition, molded by it. I didn't see the error of my way until I was already enslaved by it! haha

For me, it's not so much what I wouldn't buy per se so much as what I wouldn't buy more of, and that's Vindicators. They're too squishy with a range that's a bit too short (even 27" or 30" as opposed to 24" would be nice haha), and generally require lots of other scary firepower that I don't have the skill to apply tactically. Plus they're $83 AUS each brand new, so there's that as well haha.

If I ever got around to getting a second army, I'd want to run chaos space marines with khorne berserkers and thousand sons. Ahriman as the HQ.

Personally, I love the fluff and the look for them.

Competitively, I think we all know why this wouldn't be a good idea.

Easy fix: play FW Dread Mob! They may stink out of the codex but give them obsec and not a HS slot and they're not half bad!

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Shining spears. For a fast melee unit they have a good bonus to strength on the charge but otherwise they are guardians fighting with AP2 weapons... And having to buy jetbikes AND upgrade packs to make a horrible melee unit when I could just make those jetbikes into scatbikes. To make matters worse they are in a slot that is already filled with far better options.

Personally, the Ghostkeel. Everything about Tau is Range Range Range, why take a platform that has less range than my fire warriors? Remember, before you have to worry about hitting things, or wounding them, you have to be in range. It is why I love Missile Pods. Decent ROF, long range and high Str. AP is middling, but when I can whittle away what you have before your can bring your weapons to bear. . .
