Why blood Angels' sanguinary guard breast plate isn't then?

Because the Blood Angels' Sanguinary Guard is a tiny, tiny portion of the whole Space Marines range, who are all male, and they are the only one getting this breast plate. The Sisters of Battle are basically the only female human miniatures in the whole range.

Here is the solution. Get companies to release tons of completely unsexualized female models, up to the point that the “sexually attractive” ones are rare oddities. And voila, you are done.

Great solution. Here are some minis, so that beauty is not so concentrated!

Can you find me some nerdy, unfit, underweight males in Wh40k? Cause I`m about to get offended! Those catachans, cadians, tempestus and SM are way more masculine, than an average male! That`s sexist! Screw you GW, where all the fictional bodies are perfect so.

I have a better solution, though. People, who are trying to be offended and are jumping over their head just to find anything racist/sexist/homophobic (even though it`s not there) in the hobby , don`t spoil the fun for the others.

Grishnark studio are sculpters.
If we imagine a scale from "toy" to "art", their work lies further, than GW plastics, to "art". And, considering them to be artists, noone can tell them how and what to sculpt, That`s their view of Space Nuns with Guns, and let it be so. If somebody wants flat breast plates for female warriors in a fictional universe, it`s their choice, and nobody will be there to judge. And let it be so for the ones, who want the opposite - we do live in free countries, don`t we?

I think we`re darn off topic though, so sorry about that..

how about we just:

let sculptors sculpt what they want
let companies sell what they want
let buyers buy what they want

and if anyone has an issue with the miniatures available they pick up some putty and a sculpting tool and make them themselves (Like Grishnark did), or grab a file and start converting what is available

Agreed. I would even add “Let forum users write what they want”.

How about people not inevitably dragging yet another Sisters-related thread down with boobie discussions? That'd be pretty cool.

As a player who has thought Sisters were cool since 2nd edition, these are pinging my nostalgia bigtime.

While I totally agree with you I think you know by now if there's anything gamers know it's boobs . Anytime a thread pops up with breasts involved we instantly get "why does that model have watermelons attached to it", "those proportions are just terrible", "how else are you supposed to know its a woman", "that's too cheesecake for my taste", "I prefer more cheesecake" and then we start getting all the people fighting over sexual used roles of women. We're dealing with miniatures yet it turns into equality ever time.

The idea of sisters of battle is great, these models are a great throwback to the old models. I'd love to see an update to the range, but I fear the inevitable "Ugh they didn't listen to me and they could have been sooooooooo much better"

much like with recasters the issue is courts in many countries are in no great hurry to worry about it.

I wish people would stop referring to using the same visual cues as a GW product as if it's similar to actually recasting GW models, they're not even remotely equivalent, and GW has exactly zero claim against these guys or anyone else making "Space Canadian Armymen", "Space British Soldiers from Zulu", "Space Nuns in Powered Armour", "Space Legionaries", "Holy Roman Empire Soldier with Fantasy Twist", or anything else along those lines. These are the miniature equivalent of making "GUDDI" handbags that happen to look very similar to designs put out by a certain designer label; it's not illegal, it's not unlawful, and it's not infringing any copyrights no matter what the imitated party would like people to believe.

You don't need to make an exact copy of a model to be considered infringing on copyright.

These are absolutely similar enough to the original sisters models that they arguably do infringe copyright and GW would definitely have a decent claim against these models would it ever go to court. Whether such an endeavor would be a good use of GW's resources (or if it would be moral considering GW's lack of attention to the sisters IP in particular and peoples feelings towards the IP-law system in general) is another question entirely.

It's true that this is a different situation than someone making exact copies of existing GW models though. I agree with that.

Well, this is Russia. Copyright works differently in Russia (i.e. the amount of protection your IP has is directly related to the amount of money you throw at the judge (and even that is no guarantee). So in any case I do not think the question of copyright is really relevant here.
Also, on a fun note. The guys making these miniatures claim they do not infringe on copyright because they are not selling any miniatures. No, they are selling craft bags, the miniatures are a free gift for anyone who buys a craft bag How typical...

The copyright claim will come down to the individual jurisdiction. Some countries have very narrow interpretations of sculptures and models and some have very broad ones when it comes to copyright.

In some jurisdictions it does not need to be an exact copy, but in some it does. It is wholely acceptable for a model to have strong tonal and design similarities. In this instance there is little in the expression of this female space warrior that is uniquely GW's creation. It's a female space warrior with armored corset and boots, typical medieval tabard, iconography, and haircut. The helmet and gun come closest to GW's designs but elements while they may contribute to the infringement of a work do not immediately characterize unique sculptures as a copy of GW's works.

I don't understand why people complain about boobplate on SOBs. Not having boobplate would be a gross break with the fluff and not acceptable.

There is only one reason SOBs exist at all: the Ecclesiarchy is not allowed to have men-at-arms. So in typical RAW WAAC fashion they went for women-in-arms instead. And that everyone and there grandmother clearly sees that they don't have men-at-arms, they issued over-emphasised womanly armour.

It has nothing to do with sexuality but with gender. Put a woman in standard power armor and you couldn't tell the difference between a man.

And I don't expect SOB armour to be form fitting. Most of the cups are probably empty for most sisters or aren't even hollow to begin with.

PS: lovely models

That's (in-universe) fact.

That's just your interpretation. It is never explicitly written anywhere. Possibly the armor was already the same before the Decree Passive, when Vandire created the Brides of the Emperor.

I had a talk with the guy yesterday. The models aren't for sale just yet as he is working on the production of them. They guy on ebay was a friend who he gave a set, the guy decided to sell them for whatever reason.
What is most impressive to me is that the models are all hand sculpted, this also explains why the bare heads look .... well, like they do as it's hard to sculpt female heads by hand.

Here is a work in progress image he sent me. If you are wondering about the weird legs they were made that way so he could bend them for posing the crouching sister.

His current plan looks like this:
1. Individual melta weapons on sprues.
2. Dominion like models - Dynamic running poses
3. Retributor like models with heavy weapons in static/defensive poses
4. Tank kit that makes Immolator, Rhino, repressor, exorcist.
5. Sisters in non combat poses (praying, etc)
6. Cannoness like character
7. Celestine like models
8. Priests
9. Repenting ladies (half naked models)
10. Command Squad , models in ornate armor
11. Pistols and swords for Command Squad
12. Conclave crusaders/death cults

I'm really looking forwards to what he creates but as he is hand sculpting everything I fear it will be a long while before everything is done... Still faster than GW regardless...

Sisters is love.. if you don't like boob plate then why are you even here? Just use any guardman model as your sisters...
