Ditto.

Hey Para, is it alright if I get a "proof I've finished" photo tonight and then sort out the proper ones tomorrow?

Yep, as usual the vote won't be going up until some time tomorrow afternoon, so plenty of time to get them up.

Nice work. Looks like he's had a rough day at work.

Regarding your proof. Have you let other people slide on their proof pic?

If you have, than all is good.

If you haven't, than pay the stupid tax and withdraw your entry. It would just look unsightly if you didn't.

Yeah, I do/have let it slide when it's people forgetting rather than trying to submit something painted two months ago or similar. If anyone does have a problem I'll withdraw it and go and panic-paint a Space Marine Captain or something, but I'd rather enter Iron Man if no one takes issue. I can assure you it was painted within the month, I just didn't take a proof as I wasn't expecting it to turn out particularly well!

@Nevelon: That Ultramarines captain looks pretty nice. One thing I like about your painting is how crisp and clean it is. Does it take a lot of touch-up work, or do you just manage to be so neat on the initial coats of paint?

First pass is sloppy basecoats. And I’m not kidding about the slop.
Second round is drybrushing, washes for detail bits, finding the spots I missed on the first pass, etc.
Then the blue gets a cleanup pass/second coat. This normally takes care of most of the touch-up work, as it gets everyone back in the lines.
Then the Ultras get their blue wash. Well, technically a glaze, as I go over all the armor. This hides a lot of sins.
I will sometimes do a little bit of highlighting afterwords. Or clean up the blue wash that splashed a bit.

Because I don’t do a whole lot after the last wash, there isn’t a lot of brushwork/slop/mess visible on the bulk of the mini. So I wouldn’t say I do a lot of touch up work, but I am not a neat painter.

Glad you enjoy it.

That looks great, ckig!

Paradigm, for what it's worth from a noob, I have no issue with you forgetting your proof photo. Considering all the work you put into this thread every month, I think we can let you off!

Sadly due to unforeseen circumstances, house fires(not mine thankfully) and illness I'm afraid I've made very little work on my entry this month so cash me up with a big fat DNF.

Can't wait to see how the voting goes on the finished entries, some fantastic options to vote on.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to set up the light box, so it is a poor picture with a lot of the colour burned out by the flash. I'm not at all happy with it, but here is the finished model.

@gunhazard: Glad you could recover. I really like the purple tones.

Don't have time to figure out how to take a better picture this month... I tried to implement some of the tips from MidgetGems' informative post, but my point and shoot doesn't have that level of manual control, and I didn't have time to figure out all the settings on my mirrorless camera. Oh well...

Thanks, ckig! Also, thanks to ZergSmasher, Midget Gems, and Paradigm for your kind words. It's good to get that kind of encouragement (especially when you've spent half the afternoon trying and failing to do non-metallic metal on a Sigmarine.)

Gunzhard - I'm delighted you managed to fix the Trickster. It looks fantastic, too! Hell of a save. You could teach Joe Hart a thing or two...

I guess from the US flag next to your name, you're not going to get that reference.

A bit of a race to the finish and then I couldn't get a photo I liked to show all the detail.

But I at least got the Sergeant done.

Well, I'm disappointed with myself; I gave it my best after a late night home from work, but it's just not happening. Really close to finishing, but not worth messing up the fine detail just to make the deadline, which is a shame because this will be the first one I haven't finished since starting to participate :(

Anyway, a couple of shots to show how far I got, don't know if you want to include them in the vote anyway?

Lovely stuff from everyone. Really looking forward to voting this month.

Sadly home-life meant that paint touched nothing relevant, so I didn't even get to tickle old Yarrick and dust him off.

@keezus: many, many, many hours...
i've been working on him most of the month...

@Januine: well, it was a horrible photography, and photo editing, experience, but here he is, Borka Kegslayer, Vengeance of the Rimeshaws...
hero to some, villain to others...
it really just depends upon which side of the bear you are on

i had a lot of fun painting this guy, and i hope he ends up raising a good amount of money for Cancer research at the Clash for a Cure auction in September...

my favorite bit is Borka's gold tooth...
i just couldn't resist painting one

good luck everybody...

As usual, there are some absolutely stellar entries this month. Special mention to Midget Gems for making me realize that I need to step up my ork game this month.

Here's my humble entry, a Mighty hero to the orks of Gulgog Tufftoof's Waaagh, and a nefarious villain to anyone unfortunate enough to own a tank in killin' range, here's the boss nob (and last model I need for a complete squad) of my tankbustas! This was my first real attempt at scratch building anything, and if you're interested in the process (shameless self-promotion... wait for it...) I've started a P&M blog in the forums (hint, it's the one that starts w/ Waaagh!).

He's glorious Jah. Especially love the gore on the Bears maw and paws. Very nicely done. The subtle blue/green tint to the steel armour works really nicely too - complements the cold tone of the whole thing. Should raise some very nice cash for the charity. Great stuff

Soooo many good entries this month voting is going to be tough, don't think I'll be able to vote for less than a dozen people on this challenge.

Thanks for the mention Gulgog TufToof, got to represent the Orks ,you must be getting quite an interesting collection of heavy weapon Orks now, I'll make sure I check out your blog.

Good luck everyone

No worries Jan! Let me know when they're up, so long as it's some time in the next 4-5 hours or so (basically, some time this afternoon UK time) then it's all good. That goes for anyone else who can make use of the extra time too, feel free to quickly put something up!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Some great entries to wake up to this morning!

@Gunhazard: Simply awesome! Would you mind sharing your method for the blue armour with those purple tones? Looks intriguing.

@GulGog: Good stuff! Loadsa Dakka very well incorporated into the kitbash, and tons of character!

@Jah: An armoured polar bear ridden by a crazed troll? Fething awesome on so many levels!
